Its back! - PMS that is.

Well I just realised that in the four years since I finished chemo I have had a pretty good repreive from PMS symptoms. Not anymore. It's back with vengeance!!! 

You know how it goes...so tired I could sleep all day.  So depressed...I could walk in front of a truck.  What is it with female hormones?   How can they have such a massive effect on your body. 

Also since I was ER+PR- I am wondering if this means my hormones are pumping along again.  Is that a good thing?  I am on tamoxifen.

 Maybe it's the start of early menopause.  I have just turned 40.  Who knows but thank goodness by tomorrow this will be over.

 I know in the scheme of things this is a VERY trivial whinge.  However I really did need to whinge and get it off my chest.

    Have you not had a period since treatment? Could this be the return of aunt flo?

    It's not a bad thing if you get a period on Tamox... the tamox acts as a lock and key, and basically stops the estrogen from fueling cancer cells.

    Have you ever had an FSH test?

    Hi Beth. No Aunt Flo started visiting again not too long after chemo finished.  She took a few months to get regular.  The main thing is that I didn't have these really severe premenstrual hormonal symptoms.  They came back a couple of months ago and this month was particularly horrid.  I really haven't missed those symptoms. A FSH test probably isn't a bad idea. I am not really ready for menopause as I still have fanciful ideas about that third child we were planning when cancer struck.

    Anyway I am feeling a lot better today - thank goodness.

    Hello Ladies, good post LOL.  I am with you this week, This is my second after chemo ended(tax,adriamycin,and cytosin), but I am on Xeloda pills), going thru rads now.  I AM A MESS this week. I have horride anxiety, and am sleepy too.  Honestly having my ovaries removed isn't looking so bad right now. MAN OH MAN.  Mine started 2 months after chemo, I did go thru pre-menopause. Hot flashes are lovely :(  I am grateful that I can still have babies, but was diagnosed stage III hormone negative for both, a week after my first baby was born (shes now 4.5 months old). Its been a ride. But I am terrified to have another baby again after ALL this, so again maybe it would be a good idea to have them removed, A positive would be not feelin like this anymore :) Thanks for listening :)  Lisa

    My last chemo was Sept.29th (every 3 weeks).

    Hi Lisa. 

    That was a tough time to be diagnosed!  I hope you are doing ok. 

    I understand the "terrified to have another baby" thing.  Time helps with that.  Also (somebody come in and correct me if I am wrong), if you are triple negative once you get a number of years past diagnosis without a recurrence your risk decreases dramatically.  Perhaps wait a few years and then discuss the baby thing with the oncologist.  Try not to make any quick decisions on the ovaries.

    PMS sucks (not as much as cancer but it still sucks).  I hope you feel better soon.

    and I will wait about the ovaries, I am grateful for your input. :) Thats great to hear something positive about being triple negative.  Thankyou again. :)

    I am doing good though, don't get me wrong.The peace God has given me had been a blessing.  Of course there wouldn't be any growth if it were all peaceful right :)  I have learned soooo much about myself thru this,,,and am grateful it has changed me so much, I still can't believe that this too has been a blessing in disguise.  But life will never be the same now. I weep about it, biut just because I am learning who God intended me to be,,, and its not an easy walk :)   God bless :)

    I am drinking my chamomile tea to help with my PMS symptoms LOL. It really helps.

    Good time to mention my friend who is preggers with no ovaries. Implanted embryo, first time trouble in the beginning weeks, but second time a charm, and she's having a boy! Gotta love medicine!!!

    I am glad someone posted this questions.  After A/C - taxol/herc - ab/herc I just started having a cycle again.  They are running test to see if it has anything to do with being er+ I am praying this does not become a problem

    Hi ladies.  I'm a 37 year old my last chemo was April 22nd 2008.  When I was diagnosed, I went to a fertility doctor to find out what my options were because don't have any children and wanted one.  Long story short....there really weren't any options out there for me.  That chemo more than likely would cause irreversable menopause.  So when I had my last period in March, and was going through all the hot flashes and mood swings I had accepted the fact that God decided to keep me childless.  So guess what I got for New Years???  My PERIOD!!  It seems very heavy compared to my past cycles and it has been almost 7 days with no sign of slowing.  Is this normal??  And if I'm getting a period would I be releasing eggs??  I don't know much about my cancer except it was estrogen and genetically negative.  Any opinions would be appreciated.

    I was told it could be up to a year for a cycle to come back after chemo.

    As for me, I am not giving up my ovaries , but thinking about baby number two is yrs away still. :)

    I am triple neg, but my obgyn is trying to get me to take my ovaries out, :(  I am a little upset about that and have yet to go back :)   But I am putting it in Gods hands, I think if God forbide anything came back , it can com back anywhere. I will keep my baby maker,,thankyou very much,

    Sorry to be so cad,,,but after the hell I've been thru,,theres no other way for me :)

    God bless you in your future decision making,, and I pray you recieve the answers you are looking for.   I will say this,,,if God wants you to have a baby,,,then darlin,,,,you'll have one.  Pray pray pray.
