Joy. Know that I've had you in my prayers all along, but now with this update of your circumstances I will be praying very specific prayers for you and your family -- in the midst of this heroic journey that you are now undergoing.
I pray that you have a moment today, to think of a blessing that has come to you in the midst of this whirlwind. As our dear sister, Slonedeb would remind: "Ride out your storms."
Strength and courage. Strength and courage. Strength and courage.

Update from Joy's dd, Kelly on the dec 07 chemo thread!
Hello Everyone,
This is Kelley. again writing for my Mom, Joy. She wants you to know that she had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hopes you all did, too. We ordered a huge dinner from Cracker Barrell and brought it to the Hospital. We were all together and really enjoyed the time and good food. She is continuing to receive radiation each day and chemo every 3 days in her head (I don't know all the technical terms). I have come back home to Savannah for a few days and plan to be back on Thursday evening. She is in good spirits and intends to fight off the beast with everything she has! She has lost the vision in her left eye and is hoping to keep what is left in the right eye...I will type for her.
I will continue to send updates to you. I read her all of yours, thanks.
Love and best wishes to each of you,
Kelley

Oh HAPPY day!! What a fantastic post. Thank you Kelley, for acting as the secretary -- and keeping us updated on developments and the lovely report of your family's Thanksgiving.
I'm so grateful for the newsy update. Please continue to take good care of yourself in the midst of all that is going on.
Joy. My prayers for you will be steadfast thruout the current situation. Know that I will lift you up and ask for guidance and excellance from your team.... the very best that they are capable of offering on your behalf.
Please continue to be your gutsy, spunky self in the storm that you journey through. I'm so sorry that you have this chapter to undergo.
I am so thrilled to hear the "fight" in your attitude and intention, thru Kelley's typing above. I hope that you have miracles that defy explaination. Sending you hope and determination.

Hi Everyone,
This is Kelley again, for Joy. My Mom is still in the Hospital. I have been reading her your posts. When she is awake for any time at all, she always asks to hear them. She is continuing to receive radiation every day until next Tuesday and getting chemo every 3 days. She is so tired....exhausted. I have been with her since Tuesday - going home to Savannah tomorrow. Mom is really fighting hard and trying her very best.
I will send updates to you. Thanks so much for your prayers, kind thoughts and words.
Thanks again and our prayers go out to each of you.

Kelley. Thanks for keeping us posted. It sounds like your mother is keeping up her strength in the midst of the struggle. I'm sure you have a myriad of feelings, seeing her in this condition.
We will continue to hold her up, as well as your whole family.
I wonder whatever became of the court & legal issues? Hopefully that has all sorted itself out by now and is no longer a concern.
Goodness. Your family has had so much to deal with this year. I'm so sorry for the challenges that have converged. Know that we are sending you strength and courage to face this time.
Joy. My heartfelt encouragement to you..... I'm asking the heavens to send you mercy and compassion, wrapping you in a warm blanket of hope.

Hello, dear friends of my Mothers,
I am very sad to tell you that my Mother, Joy, passed away over the weekend. She was never alone while in the Hospital. We were with her every day and night. Her husband was with her when she slipped away, peacefully in her sleep. She spent her last afternoon planning the details of a doughnut shop she and my 12 year old Daughter had planned to open. They laughed and talked over every flavor they would have.
She said many times that she would not have made it through this past year without your support and friendship. She stayed strong the entire time - had radiation on Weds. and chemo. on Thurs. She gave it all she had.
Thanks to all of you. I will be posting her picture this weekend. I want you to see her, smiling.
Keep us in your prayers as you are all in ours,
Kelley

Gosh Kelley....(and I'm sorry I just realized I've been spelling your name as my niece does, for that I am sorry) .
As I posted before, I never expected to read that Joy was gone. My prayers are now for you and your dd and her husband that you can reach back into those memories of her before this disease took her from you, and find solace in those. Sad and heartbroken for your loss

Dear sweet daughter, grand-daughter and dearest Mr. Joy, husband..... and all of Joy's family.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I can hear Joy laughing thru her posts to us publically and in several private messages she sent me over the summer...... her posts were always so upbeat, so very kind and always encouraging. I met our dearest Joy, thru her posts over at "Norm's" prayer thread. She was full of support for Norm -- thru his horrific loss.
She was always filled with enthusiasm and adventures.
She told us of old camping trips and riding the golf cart and how much fun you'd have when everyone got together. Big cooking adventures. Fishing. She always sparkled to me, thru her descriptions -- they were radiant and I always imagined her as radiant as well. So filled with life.
I can't begin to wonder what emotions you're going thru Kelley. Thank you so much for posting to us and sharing those last happy doughnut-planning memories with us. I can feel her sparkling in your description. I will be very eager to see the pictures that you're able to share.
In the meantime, please accept my simple prayers of support. Your mom was one to share her trust in all that life hands to us. I believe she is now supervising in an angel committee somewhere golden, genuinely glowing, probably already up to her elbows in arrangements for new-angel doughnut-welcome committee and the like.
Please treasure the wonderful memories that you've created together. I'm so glad to hear that you were able to spend so much time together. She was a real fighter. She can now fight for us from the heavens.
Please come back and let us know how you are doing, Kelley. That would be the ultimate compliment to your mom. You will always have support here.
She was an angel before her time.

Thank you all so much. I forgot to tell you...my Mother was an organ donor and her corneas were used. Also, Elizabeth came home from the Hospital on the very day my Mom passed. Faith, you are right...my Mom was always full of enthusiasm and so funny! The afternoon before she died she told her doctor.."I am well, I want to go home!". Thanks for the thought of a doughnut shop in Heaven...I will treasure that one. I am smiling thinking of that!
She never gave up...
Love to all of you and thank you so much for the friendship you gave her, and me. Isn't it amazing, and wonderful how lives can be touched?
Prayers for all,
Kelley

{{Kelley}} So thankful your grandmother is home now. How is she doing?
Our friendship with your mom is extended to you in her absence. She was here to short of time, but has left an mark on our hearts in many ways. Know that we are keeping you all, including your grandmother in our thoughts and prayers, Kelley.

Dearest Kelley and Family
I am so sorry for your loss, I never once even thought that we could lose Joy. I felt an instant bond with Joy when we talked online and was truly looking forward to actually getting together to meet in person when she was better. I feel heartbroken right now and cant even begin to imagine how you are all feeling. I wish I could just wrap my arms around you and give you a loving hug. I cant thank you enough for relaying all the messages to your mom and also for keeping us informed. Please give Elizabeth a big hug from me..... Joy spoke so lovingly about all of you that I feel as though I know you all. Im sure she's looking down on us right now as she sits amongst the angels in the clouds. Im sending you all love, light and prayers to help you through this most difficult time. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures you post so I can put a smiling face to a very very dear friend. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Much Love and Prayers, Suz

Kelley...... I start the day with warm wishes for your family. It's so good to ready Suz's post above as she was able to articulate my feelings, so much better than me:
"I never once even thought that we could lose Joy."
Exactly. Somehow, it never dawned on me this was a possible outcome. Her optomism, her upbeat attitutde, her infinite caring for our mutual buddie Norm, somehow shielded me from the fact that she was actually ill. I'm sure that's the way she wanted us to think of her -- a dynamo in action.
I forgot to mention Elizabeth. What a unique bond they had. She spoke with such affection for the care that Elizabeth was able to shower upon her -- knowing just what soup to make, which magazine to offer. I have tears in my eyes now as I envision them holding one another up, over these past couple of months -- the roads that they were each traveling. Alone and yet completely together.
I am such a better person for having been acquainted with your mother, Kelley.
Perhaps that's what it's all about.
Much love to you and yours.
