average age of triple neg/and fund raise
Ladies: When I asked my surgeon if she has had many triple negative patients, she said that most were -"younger" ! She has been a surgeon for years..... I just turned 61.
What is the general consensus re age? Why?
I've also consulted (in collaboration with the breast surgeon) with a thoracic surgeon, in case it's safe to remove some remaining cells -near/on my pectoral muscle, near my collar bone and near a couple of ribs.....
A Pet scan ,and an MRI will help to determine this...
CT scans don't really indicate "CANCER" cells --do they? (I've had a few CT scans)
ARE there events to fund raise for research/meds --SPECIFICALLY for TRIPLE NEG. ?
WHY ???

Janinvan - when I was dx with mets last December my daughter in law started a fundraiser for tnbc. Here's the link
http://www.tnbcfoundation.org/peoplemaking.htm
Her projects are "The Lemonade Stand" (my grandchildren) and "Terri and Larisa" (Larisa is the dil). They did a three event run and raised money on a website, about $3200 I think. I think we'll see more triple negative fund raisers as people become aware that this is different.

re age/fundraising replies---thanks! ....However----they need to research for triple negative a tremendous amount MORE! I think that the diagnosis and prognosis is often very --"wait and see" ... The attitude/lack of more knowledge-- of the experts-- could lead someone to stop work/career, etc.
Besides scans--- could core biopsies(with a special needle) be used in certain situations? (some time after the treatment--not just at the time of diagnosis)

I was 43 when I was dx 11/26/2007

I was 54 when diagnosed in 3/03. Triple Negative, Grade III, Stage IIb, 1/22 nodes. I have also heard that it is more common in pre-menopausal women.
