Where the fashionistas?!?!?
Having not bought anything for myself in quite some time, I splurged on some boots (ALDO Beth) - just love the winter white this season. Whatcha think?
-
OOOOO, Raye!!! Those are adorable, stylish & look warm, comfortable & durable! I.E., perfect! Are they suede?
-
Wow, thanks Beth! I'm definitely looking for new jeans. All of mine are super low-rise and P. hates them. Says he doesn't want everyone getting a peak at my crack
! Frankly, I wasn't aware that it was so "outstanding"!
I'll check out Alloy......

Marin - I am sure it is quite amazing!!! Can't blame the man for not wanting share even a glimpse.
Ok, on the boots. yes, they are suede and sooo cute, BUT I have nothing in white to wear them with. Meaning I would have to build an outfit around a pair of boots - which I cannot afford. So I am going to get the black ones, as I have many black clothes. Here are the black. I actually copied the wrong photo up there - mine are slightly different.

The above referenced link is a pain in the arse to copy and paste - so here is a photo of the black boots. What do you guys think? I need help here please, because these are not cheap.
-
Fashionista back on duty!
Raye, those boots look like they could take you trekking through the Artic! Are they fleece-lined? Are you going to be wearing them with pants or dresses/skirts? Or, maybe, something spandex??? Very cute! I see you driving reindeer...........
Marin, puh-leeze, cover your crack! Don't you know you can catch cold that way? LOL
-
RaYE i LOVE them!!!! I REALLY hope you bought the Aldo defense spray for $10, and if you didn't you should go back and get it. I absolutely swear by that product. You spray all your leather and suede, once every 2-3 weeks depending on how often you wear them.... It will prtect them from water and stains. When I first went to work at Aldo, someone took a tan suede shoe, and sprayed the defense spray on it, then waited 30 seconds and poured coca-cola on it, and it rolled right off. I use it on all of my purses, shoes, and jackets....
-
LOL Tina!
YES, they are fleece lined and so soft and comfy! I was thinking of wearing them with shorter casual skirts with or without tights and over jeans. Or maybe even with a cute sweater dress! I couldn't keep trying them on this morning. I took the white ones back to ALDO today and ordered the black online as they didn't have my size in the store (free shipping - swweet).
Yes, Beth, I bought the defense spray - the Scotchguard for leather/suede clothes.
-
Oh, Raye, don't ya just hate having to be practical? Yes, of course the black boots would look great with all the things you described & you wouldn't need new clothes, but boy those white ones are really cute, aren't they?? Oh, well, Christmas is coming & maybe someone out there could do with a few hints about getting them for you for Christmas!
-
Oh! Oh! I've got the BEST shoes!!!
They're called Aravon and they're made by New Balance and they are way cute and very comfy. They're not High heels but they are heels and very pretty. I can't wear most heels because of morton's neuromas in both feet (from wearing heels in 8th grade!) that are unbelievably painful in the wrong shoes, so these work great for me. I've NEVER had compliments on my shoes but every time I wear these someone comments.
and while looking for those I found these!
Best yet, you can get them, wear them for up to 30 days (yes, really wear them) and if they're not the right size or you don't find them comfy you can return them!
-
I can relate to the Morton's ! I wore heels for years as a consultant, and finally had to go to flats after hiking all over hospitals killing my feet and almost in tears by the end of the day.
-
Jorf, those are really cute! It's great that there are so many more choices in shoes these days.
-
I forgot to say that they are made by New Balance. Got mine on right now!
It's the best part of my outfit today. I realized as I was getting dressed at the gym that I forgot my bra and the little insert I use to even out my breast appearance. Luckily I had a spare sports bra in the bag and had thrown a scarf and a sweater in at the last minute this morning so that my bright pink racer back sports bra doesn't show under my wide/deep v-neck light blue top.
A little stressed today?????? Onc appointment after a mass found on my mammo last week....
-
Jorf, love the ankle boots. The T-straps are cute but you have to have longer legs than mine to wear something cutting across my instep. My mother didn't grow me tall enough. Actually, I would be a tall person if I didn't have such short legs.
We will be thinking of you today for your onc appt. Holding our collective breaths.
-
I am lusting over this dress. How about with a skinny T underneath, tights, heels? Am I nuts?
Secret Joy Dress at www.anthropologie.com
They make it impossible to copy and paste the dress URL. You'd think these companies would understand that we do that and that helps sell their product. What are they thinking? Grump.
-
I just lost my whole post as I was posting and went to look at Tina's dress.
Kathi - I liked the white boots better, but practicality won out and I got the black ones. I thought that the white boots were rather sexy?
Jorf - I am so sorry to hear about that mass. How worrisome! When is your onc appt? Today, I hope. Please please let us know what you find out!!!
I love the Mary Jane's! I wear NB shoes for running and they are far the best running shoes in my opinion.
Tina - going to look at the dress now.
-
Feel like I just got back from an archaeological dig, but did find the dress once I was smart enough just to search for it by name.
I like it, Tina, but I would wear it with tall boots rather than tights and heels. ? I will have to go back into the rabbit's hole and look at it again to see what color boots.
-
I think I might like the Whooo are you dress better. Easier to match shoes/boots, etc. ? Did you see that one Tina? It's under knits I think?
Whooo...Are...You? Dress
-
Whooo is lovely. Would wash all the color out of me, though. Really cannot wear white/off white.
Did you see the short boots under the secret joy dress on the same page? When I said heels, I meant my ankle boot heels with tights, not regular shoes. Well, anyway, it's too expensive right now. Maybe if they had 1/2 price sale after the holidays and by then I would not need a new dress. Grump.
I like the anthropologie style but they are wayyyyy too high in most cases. I love their upholstered chair, the missoni one with the big, splashy print. Search for the Astrid chair with Passiflora print. Be still, my thumping heart. I sat in it a couple of months ago and it was so cushy. I loved it.
Just bought this lamp for my living room. Mead mercury glass lamp. Bedside one, the smaller and rounder one. ........Time out for home fashion.

Oh god, ladies, I absolutely cannot indulge in any more retail therapy for a while. My car died right before Thanksgiving & it was 10 years old, after all, so not a big shock. But still, I just bought a new car. Lordie, lordie, I thought the guys at the dealership were going to cry, they were so grateful.
I love both the anthropologie dresses. Anthropologie is a bit pricy but those dresses are very very cute. Tina, I love that Secret Joy dress, those are my colors, too, & did you click on the "Model" view? Loved what she wears with it - tights & lace-up ankle boots. Raye, love that Whooo Are You dress, too. I can just get away with that kind of color because of the black trim. I think it would look awesome with black tights. As for those boots, well, you know, I probably would have done the same thing by opting for the black because that's what I have the clothes for. But, oooo, those white ones, huh?? I can just see a whole cute little outfit with them, like a mod, updated Dr. Zhivago thing.
Tina, love the lamp!
Strictly speaking, I suppose you can say that I am "wearing" my new car, which is a 2009 Saturn Aura XE. It's seafoam blue, which matches my eyes, with a pearl gray interior. So it does look good on me & it goes well with boots or high heels.

Didn't realize that there was a model view; I now have a totally different opinion on the Joy dress. I love it with the boots she has on in the pic, but yes -- very very expensivo.
Kathi - You got it on the white boots! A little Russion mod. Your car sounds just lovely and I bet it looks simply gorgeous on you! Really brings out your eyes. No white boots, but I do drive a white RAV 4, so that will have to do for now. .
Tina - the lamp is awesome.Love their stuff.
Have a great weekend girls.
Raye
-
Love the lamp. Tina!
Out of funds for dresses, but I do enjoy looking at those anthroplogie cute ones. It's just as well - over a month on decadron has caused moon-face, beer belly (I despise beer!) and even the oh-so-flattering fat hump. Another month of this $HIT too!
Whine, whine.
Keep the pretty things coming! While I live in my UGG boots and pullovers and dream of slenderness.

Thought I'd better dress the avatar for winter!! If I can't afford to shop, I can still afford to draw...
-
ROFLMAO, KAK! She does look a little chilly, though. Maybe a fur-lined brassiere?
-
Yeah, you're right. How about this? Too much work to draw fur, but this is a little better. I can't wear turtlenecks 'cause of hot flashes, but she can!
-
I decided on a turtleneck!! Can't wear them in real life cause of hot flashes, but my avatar can wear anything she wants.
-
Kathi - I LOVE IT, but miss the glowing smaller boobie. How do you draw those?
-
Thanks, Raye. I draw the basics in Adobe Illustrator, then import the pieces into Photoshop & add the shadows & highlights around the edges & then save it from there as a jpg that will upload quickly on the web. Sorry to get techie!! Adobe rocks. I make some animations in Photoshop, too, but when I get around to learning how to use Flash, I will be able to make really good ones.
I'll have to work on fur.....
-
Raye...couldn't help noticing your quandary about coats.
I needed one this year. My old navy swing coat just didn't go with anything!!!
So I spent a whole morning in a local department store, looking, getting nowhere. Everything looked so frumpy and baby-dollish. Really don't like the styles this year. Was about to walk out the door when I found this one... A cozy short coat with wonderful big dolman sleeves. Roomy, comfortable, fits over everything. And lightweight enough that you don't get too hot.
This picture doesn't do it justice (the model is wearing the largest size)--it's very nice in a small. It looks best with elbow length black or animal print gloves, and I have a black fur boa I wear with mine. Looks great over long and knee length skirts... It's by Victor Alfaro...
-
Great looking coat. Dolman sleeves are always in style.
