Norm. What is the Canadian tradition of Thanksgiving? (I'm too ignorant for words.)
I'm home again from the latest adventure and wanted you to know that I have an entire week in my own home. My BCO buddy came to stay the couple of nights in Chicago and we spent an entire day in the Chicago Art Insitute/Museum. What a treasured experience.
We sat along MI avenue (busy, bustling street) and there was an improptu snow storm, as tho someone shook a snowglobe, just for us.
Want you to know that you are always in my prayers. Thanks for posting the angels above.

Thanksgiving in Canada was in oct.,as far as traditions I'm not too sure myself. Most people get together with family, eat way to much turkey dinner ,watch a game and then spend the next 3 or 4 days feeling bloated(and not so thankful)

HELP;can anyone walk me step by step on how to post pic's?
norm
-
Norm. I don't know if there are 'other' ways to do it, but this is what I was taught.
1. Open up a photo-bucket account. www.photobucket.com (It's free)
2. Upload your pictures into their system -- follow their directions.
3. Once your pic is uploaded into photo-bucket, you click on the second choice of the four listed. Highlight the one that says: Direct link.
You then have to go back to the BCO thread where you want to post..... so you'll need to be able to navigate between the two sites. (Open another 'tab')
4. You then click on the little tree image above (next to your smiley face logo) on BCO
5. Insert your image from photo-bucket by just clicking in the top line: URL
6. Click in the second line and that brings up the sizing numbers
7. You need to "re-size" images..... some guess work involved, but if you keep the pixels below 600 in both directions, it will 'fit' here onto this size page
8. Then you just have to hit the word: INSERT on the bottom of the grid
9. Then you have to hit the submit button on the BCO thread, like you would normally for a post
Give it a try and if you get hung-up along the way, I'll try to be more specific.
Edited to add a few more specifics.

Be persistant. If I can learn it, so can you. I'm SOOOOOOO curious to see what you're going to share with us!! Can hardly wait.
-
thanks Faith,I give a try tonight;norm

Keep trying Norm......... it will eventually start to make sense. Where did you lose the process? Ask some more questions. Or have one of your grandbabies help you..... LOL. They're born knowing more about this stuff than we'll ever figure out.

P.S. Love that you have an avatar now..... see you're making progress.
Looks like the angels all surrounding a staircase, right?
-
Wow, Norm, an Avatar! WhooHoo!!! I too can't wait to see what you plan to post.
Once you've highlighted and copied the photobucket link and navigate back here (you can have two windows open at the same time), click the picture of the tree next to the smiley face and paste in the link where it says URL. Name the pic and click OK. That should do it.
Hi Faith, Deb, Footie, Joy,Suz, and our dear, Puppy!!!!
Faith, welcome home. Glad you had a great time. Love the snowglobe analogy and the picture of Superboy and the twins. How sweet.
It’s Monday, and I’m home for Thanksgiving Break. WhooHoo!!! I’ve got Narratives to read, but I’ll do that after I check in here.
We're having the holiday at my son's girlfriend's parent's house. Should be interesting since we've never met them before. I don't plan on eating so much I feel bloated for several days, that is for sure.
Interesting, Norm, that Canadian's eat Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving as well...only in October. When in October?
So, I’m still trying to get comfortable with my new normal. Part of me is just so frustrated that I don't feel the way I used to feel...physically, not emotionally (although it does have an emotional impact)...and the other part is trying to just embrace it for what it is...a transitioning...to what? Who knows...apparently to where and what I must transition to…Sigh
OK, my narratives are waiting for me…oh joy.
I’ll check in tomorrow. SIS Kimberly

Hello,
I am writing to all of you for my Mother, Joy. She wants you to know that she has had a set-back. She has been in the Hospital and has been diagnosed with brain cancer. She says to tell you that she will be having the same surgery as Alaska Deb later today. She also wants you to know that Elizabeth woke up a few days ago, after 7 weeks, and asked for a hamburger! She is expected to move to rehab in a week or so.
My Mom has enjoyed getting to know each of you so much! I read her the posts where so many of you had asked about her and she got a big smile from them. She asks that you keep her in your prayers, as each of you are in ours.
I will update you as we know more.
Thanks so much,
Kelley
p.s. Ive also started a candle group under the name "joy" if anyone would like to light one for her

Kelley and Joy: know that I will add this development to my specific prayers on your behalf.

Oh Norm. Your honesty just cuts straight thru my heart. I am so very very sorry that your reality -- or at least your sense of reality, is so bleak..... and that your prayers for a "reason to wake up" have gone without answer.
You have my continued prayers. In the face of what you've been up-against, they are so very miniscule...... I wish that I had a more powerful voice, one that could articulate what it is that you need to hear.
How I wonder if you're gonna make it thru the day, and thru the days ahead -- as we approach the anniversary together? I really hope with my whole heart, that you continue to face each hour as it presents itself. Of course, if the roles were reversed, I don't know that I'd have the strength that you've shown so far.
I'm sure that you've thought of your children and grand-children, and even if they are incapable of expressing it -- they do need you in their lives, whatever condition you are in.
I'll attempt a prayer for you, Norm:
Dear Father-in-Heaven, our dear friend Norm is really at his limit. I pray that you will somehow lift him from his sorrow, wrapping your loving care around his shattered heart. Hold him together for another day, and then one more. Bring him kindness from strangers to urge him to hang on thru this unspeakable adjustment. I know that Norm longs to be re-united with his love -- who would blame him for those thoughts? No one here.
Guide his hand and his heart at this time of desperation.

Norm. Just checking in to see if there was any further word from you.
Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Lord, I bring you very special person to your arm. Lord Norm need you to hold him close and remind him how important he is to us on-line. I know how he feels threw the hoildays alone,I walk that too Lord. But I know that Norm is a very caring person and loves alot of people. So please help him Lord to know we LOVE him alot! We love you Lord. AMEN
-
Dearest Norm,
I don't know what to say that could even remotely make things seem ok. All I can offer is a prayer to give you the strength to carry on.
Right before I found out I had cancer, for reasons I wont delve into I was ready to let go. In an odd way finding I had cancer gave me the strength to crawl out of that hole and fight to live. I pray something will come along and give you the strength and will to want to carry on {{warmest hugs and prayers}} Love Suz

Thank you Lord for our angels who watch over us. We all have lost friends here. Norms angel, leftylu, tracy1964, heartwings, pups hubby. alems hubby. ctg and others. They all touched our lives. Ctg who was constant wisdom who I know puts a good word in for us I miss so much. Who taught our zaro to be a bat girl. lol Our lives are better for knowing them.

Norm.......... we're all here for you. Urging you on. I just wonder if you're still among us? Your post was so distraught. Give us a sign.

Norm,
I cannot imagine all you have gone through. I pray that you are able to find a place of peace, calm and healing, a place which will give you strength. Know that there are prayers and hugs sent to you by all who know and love you. May you know and always remember that you are loved.

Faith, Suz, Footie, Elaine, Puppy, Joy,Kelley, and Norm...As much as we do not always get what we want out of life, it is important to remember that life is such a gift, and all of us have had to fight in our own ways...for you Norm, you're fighting the darkness of your grief. As it has already been said in previous posts, you are so loved here, and no one is going to tell you how to grieve the horrific loss you experienced almost a year ago. The anniversaries are not easy to deal with, so nothing I can say will help...but know that we are all here for you. When you're feeling like you just can't take another day...come here and talk with us...get it out so it doesn't eat you up inside.
Kelley, thank you for posting a message about your Mom...and Suz, thanks for bringing it to us.
My portectomy went well. Got in three hours later than my scheduled time, but the peron in front of me was " a mess" once my surgeon got inside. I wasn't impatient with the delay as I knew that if I needed the extra time to do the best job possible, that she would have done so for me, too. So, the last chapter in the treatment part of this journey was yesterday, and I am ready to get my next chapter started. How appropriate that it would begin on Thanksgiving.
Norm, thank you for starting this thread so that we may all meet. This group is filled with such warm and giving people, including you, my friend. Sometimes I think you forget your worth. You've got so much to offer your kids and grandkids (and in time things will get easier with them...keep the lines of communication open), to the youth in your community, to us here online, and in so many other ways. Maybe you could start a gratitude journal to remind yourself how much you do have to thankful for everyday. Brenda and the kids would want tor you to move on with your life, to remember them in the happy times, and to know they are with you watching over you as you travel this road to Dec.3rd. Once that day has passed, It is my hope for you that you will reach deep down and gather the courage needed to choose the path towards life and living. Living your life does not, nor will it ever, diminish your love for Brenda and the kids. On the contrary living your best life honors theirs.
Happy Thanksgiving All,
SIS Kimberly

Norm. I asked for a sign and I'm grasping at the fact that you deleted your post above -- that you are still here with us, still among us on this journey. Thank you for that sign. Thank you for that glimmer, that you're hanging on -- hanging in.
Your heartfelt sorrow will remain in my heart. I'm so appreciative that you were willing to share with us, from the depths of your broken self. It takes such strength to share your vulnerability.
Thanks goodness to have the post from our KimberSIS above and all of the others: Footie, Suz and Joy via her Kelley..... and dear Kbug and EWB/Elaine were so moved by your expression of grief that they, too, are surrounding you with care and prayer.
I know that Puppy is sending you her healing energy as well. Norm, she loved you so much -- our Puppy. She needs to know that you are hanging in there. She'd want to see a post of your little yellow angel smilies on parade. Think of all the others who have been touched by your story, Norm. I now know that there are others who read here, but are over-whelmed and feel inadequate to post. There are so many beyond our small circle who are holding you in their prayers.
Please continue to reach deep inside to find your gifts ....... and toil onward to find ways to contribute them.
Norm, I'm praying for you.
We just got home from seeing the epic movie, "Australia" with Nicole Kidman & Hugh Jackman. I think it will remain my favorite movie for the next decade at least. It was so well done -- so moving, such a triumph of the human spirit, over evil, over injustice, over tradition.
I am so moved by such excellance.
A hug of Thanksgiving, from your southern friend,
xx00xx00xx00xx00xx00xx
