I had a great appetizer idea this year - I assigned appetizers to my 23-yr-old daughter. She'll probably buy a cheese ball and some crackers, but I don't have to worry about it.

Good luck getting some actual recipes, and have a great Thanksgiving.

    Sue

    Hahahaha!  Good one Sue...

actually, my neighbor gave me a  recipe with puff pastry, almonds and fig.  She says it's delicious, doesn't sound too appetizing to me

I have been at a party where someone took the big fat pretzel sticks and wrap em with sliced ham with cream cheese on it. It was a big hit. Well just a idea. Good luck and have a happy thanksgiving.

I have a blue cheese spread that is quick, easy, and great stuffed in celery, or spread on crackers if you like the taste of blue cheese.

Allow approximately equal amounts of cream cheese, and a good sharp blue cheese to soften.  (I usually use 8 ounces of Philly cream cheese, and 1/2 of  a package of the King's Choice blue cheese from Sam's Club)

Mix them together with a sprinkle of garlic salt, and add just enough milk to get to a smooth consistency.

After spreading the cheese mixture into the celery stalks, refrigerate to allow the cheese to firm up, then cut into small pieces just before serving.

You can also put the soft mixture into a small bowl, add a knife, and spread on crackers.

The average Thanksgiving meal has 3000 calories. Why fan the fire? How about something healthy to fill up on so you don't eat so much of the other stuff. Green Bean Casserole? YUCK! Stuffing? Yuck! Those crummy roles that come in a bag? Yuck! And who came up with the lame idea of putting marshmellows in the sweet potoatoe? All this stuff is not good for anyone, much less someone who has had cancer. I know I am a spoil sport. So here is an idea that is easy and good for you: Chop all kinds of fresh veggies, one at a time in a blender or by hand. Suggestions, carrots, green onions, garlic, cukes, mushrooms, etc.  Also chop some olives of different kinds. Open up some pate if you must. Put out some salsa, or bruschetta, or some corn relish. Even some cranberries would be great. There is no limit to the imagination. Now lay out a plate of clean romaine leaves, spinach leaves or other lettuce, in small pieces. Let people make there own concoctions and roll them and eat! Yummy, and so good for you. Eat this first and you won't have to make all the other stuff. You can cut the calories in half! Now you can have a piece of pie and not have to be rolled away from the table.LOL

I have an appetizer/snack that my husband and I always make when we have friends over.  It is 8 oz of cream cheese, softened, mixed with a small package of imitation crabmeat, thawed if frozen, and chopped sort of fine.  You just mix this together and put in a bowl.  I then put cocktail sauce in another bowl with a small spoon and crackers around.  The guests can have it with or without the cocktail sauce.  (Personally, I LOVE cocktail sauce!)

You can do a lot of things with a fondue pot too....cheese and bread, chocolate and angel food cake squares, or even something simple like marinara sauce and breadsticks.

Turkey and White Bean Chili - SOUTH BEACH DIET RECIPE (not mine!!)

Tired of turkey sandwiches? Here's a fresh way to put those Thanksgiving leftovers to good - make that delicious- use.

Turkey and White Bean Chili (Phase 1)

    Description
This yummy chili can be made many different ways, so you're free to experiment. Try using chicken instead of turkey, or replace the white beans with navy, black, or pinto beans. Top it with a tablespoon or two of shredded low-fat cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese, sliced scallions, or chopped cilantro. For a smoky taste, you can use chipotle chili powder instead of the regular kind.

    2 (1 1/4-cup) servings

    Prep time: 10 minutes
    Start to finish: 30 minutes

    Ingredients
    1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
    1/2 medium onion, roughly chopped
    1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 pound turkey breast meat, cut into 1/2" pieces
    1/2 tablespoon chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 (15-ounce) can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
    1/2 (14 1/2-ounce) can Mexican diced tomatoes
    1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Instructions
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.

Add turkey, chili powder, and cumin; cook, stirring often, until turkey is no longer pink inside, about 5 minutes.

Add beans, tomatoes with juice, and broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until flavors blend, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.
