Abdominal CT scan

I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope I made a good judgement call.

Does anyone know if an abdominal CT scan covers any of the rib area or does the scan start below the ribs?  I've been having pain on the left side that is located just below my non cancerous breast (starts in the rib area) but extends about 1-2" below the rib area.  My GI doctor ordered a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis but now I'm wondering if I also need a chest CT scan.

Now I've had the H.Pylori bacteria and have had treatment but my symptoms only improved slightly so my doctor wants to cover all bases on her end.   I don't want to drive my doctor crazy or question her judgement if it isn't necessary. Any input would be appreciated.

I looked at my husband's recent abdominal ct scan and it included most of his ribs, but looks to have started just below the breast area.

You may want to ask your doctor to extend the area to chest also.

Abdominal CT's go from the bottom of the lungs to the top of the pelvic bone.

Tell the technologist that you have rib pain and they should cover that area too since it's so close to the standard area

    Good Luck

Thank you Brenda for going out of your way to look at your husband's ct scan, that was very nice of you to do all that and I appreciate it Smile.

Henny that was an excellent suggestion, thank you Wink.
