A new lump 3 weeks after last Taxol cycle

Hi everyone, I have often read the post but never done so myself...tonight I really need to talk. I am triple negative, Stage II, tumor 1.5cm with axillary node involvement DX in mid April of this year.
Last mammogram October 31, 07 and discovered lump in February 08. Completed my last cycle of Taxol on October 31 - three weeks ago. Everything was going great - my oncologist could no longer feel tumor. I met with my surgeon last week to schedule surgery but had a nagging question on my mind. While I was having the sono guided biopsy, radiologist commented about an additional spot...somehow this was not biopsied or reported to the oncologist or surgeon. I decided that I needed an MRI done on both breast. Anyways, today I received word that the MRI is showing a new spot measuring 6 cm. They are not sure what it is but calling it a recurrence. Choosing to go ahead with mastectomy sometime before the holidays instead of another biopsy before then.
I can't believe this! Can this be possible? The other tumor identified now only by the marker placed during biopsy. Now this new 'tumor' is 3 times the size of the original tumor and grew while I was on chemo!
I am very scared! I am angry! I was doing so well and trying so hard to be strong and to stay positive.
What does this mean for me? Has anyone else have this experience?

You poor thing!! This seems so strange. Can you get a second opinion? Doesn't it seem strange that one tumor disappeared and another one grew while you were on chemo? I would be so angry that that "additional spot" was pointed out before!!!
Also, was Taxol the only chemo you had?
Good luck, wish I could help more than just letting you know I would be angry and scared also!!

My friend's tumor shrunk to nothing with the chemo. After she was finished with chemo and rads she felf a lump in the same breast. They did a biopsy and it was cancer. They could not decide if they would call it a recurrence or something left over from before (though it was not in the same exact place..just in the same breast.

Thanks for your support ladies.
I had 4 cycles of AC and 4 of Taxol. The lump could not be felt after the 2nd cycle of Adriamycin and Cytoxin...the doctors were elated. However, after the 3rd cycle on Taxol I noticed that my arm hurt quite a bit and my affected breast was heavy and felt very strange. It is strange that the original site has all but disappeared - the lymph nodes have also shrunken...I don't understand.
Now that I am a bit calmer, I am going to follow up...maybe get a second opinion or have another sono guided biopsy:)
Thanks again.
