Headache or brain mets

how do you know which is which?  I have a headache, not a bad one at all but I have had one since yesterday and so that little annoying voice has already had me call the oncologist but I haven't heard back yet.  I have been told that I am just overly concerned now because the onc said at my last visit that I will have a brain MRI in February, just a standard, not because he is concerned about anything.  My last PET scan on 10/30 was perfectly NED.

So,is this my canceritis kicking in or a real great concern?

DianaT, I feel that it is probably the nagging doubts bothering you.  Once you get this diagnosis, every pain is cancer.  I do believe if it was something to be concerned about, you will know, it will be throbbing for a long period.  It will probably be gone tomorrow.  You also just had a PET.  So don't let it get the best of you unless the pain doesn't go away.  Take care, Maryiz

    Diana,

I was dx'd with brain mets on Sept. 30.  I had a very different headache from any I had before.  It was in the back, lower area of my head.  Also, it was in my forehead.  But it was not like a regular one.  Plus, I was off-balance. I thought it was my blood pressure and just ignored it even though I would wake up at night with it.  During the day, I took Advil and it helped.  I went for a regular appt. with Onc and mentioned it.  He said it was probably tension but sent me for an MRI.  It was one large tumor.  I had a brain scan in January and it was clear.  If you are concerned, I would ask for an MRI.  They usually say wait for two weeks and if problem is still there, get it checked.
