anyone starting Chemo mid november?

I just had my port implanted yesterday. I guess I'm several weeks behind most of you. I think I'm starting my chemo next week (the 20th) but my oncologist wasn't clear on that. He also didn't tell me what order I'm getting the meds, or how frequently. I sure wish I knew more, but all in good time, right?
I'm actually anxious to get started so that the countdown to finishing can begin.

Linda,
Sorry to hear about your reaction, I started chemo on Monday. Remember to rest up a lot now because I did not get a reaction till last night. Just try not to do to much and remember that we are all here for you. I am still trying to comprehend all the things that are happening to my body, so I am right there with you. Where are you from? Kristi

I'm having my first Oncologist visit tomorrow and I su[ppose then I will know more about what how much and how long.

Hi November Ladies,
I'm a one year survivor. You will be too. Keep in mind you are the bravest and the strongest and you will get through this. I did. Live, laugh, love and walking does help. For those of you needing radiation after chemo look up skin rescue spray. It is great! For the muscle aches and pains try a a full body massage as often as possible. I had one come out to my home and it made a big difference for me. If it is not affordable, your husband or boyfriend can help in that area. My prayers are with all of you. It's also ok to be afraid. You wouldn't be normal if you weren't afraid. Remember to eat well. Ensure put into the blender with natural yogart and fresh fruit is a good source of all your essential vitamins. Instant breakfast is a good source of protien which may be needed after you are into your regiment. Don't worry about your hair. It comes back very quickly right after your last treatment. Keep your focus on you and kicking cancer's ass. luv you all! Keep posting. It's the best place to be when you can't sleep. Also try painting or coloring. Use the paint by number kits. Get into a hobby that you can do during those resltess hours. It will pass. This is all doable.

Lindy...welcome! I hope that your next few days go well...I'm preparing myself for my first treatment on 11/19. I will think and pray that the next few days are looking up for you!
-
Hello Lindy and Welcome. I too am doing 4tx of TC. I had my first tx on 10/31. All went well the first 7 days after. I had some bone pain but the Vicodin my onc prescribed helped alot. On day ten my WBC dropped and my onc said I had an infection. For the last 3 days have been hell. My onc said looks like you need a shot. I new what he was talking about the Neulasta shot. I thought why didn't you just give that to my after the first first round. I'm finally able to get out of bed. Everyone is different I pray you stay well. I go in for my 2nd tx on the 21st and then the next day I will get the Neulasta. That supposed to help keep your WBC up. I hope so.
Remember I said everyone is different and I pray you stay well

Hi all,
I am from Ohio,a suburb outside of Cleveland. Thank you for your support, it is really nice to have a group of people who understand what I am going through. When I first found out about the cancer on
09/08/08 I just didin't want to talk about it. It seems to be getting easier as I go along. My lymph nodes were clear and I had a lumpectomy on 08/26/08. Then 2 weeks later I was back in again to clear margins, then 2 weeks later I was back in again to clear margins and this time they were clear. My tumor was 2.3cm, grade 2, stage 2 and I have triple negative breast cancer. I am looking at 6 weeks of radiation after the chemo. I am finding right now that I am not very hungry alittle tired but I keep hearing that after each treatment it tends to get alittle worse. SO now I have a great support group here. I will be praying for each of you. And looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Ladies,
I hope that everyone got through the weekend
Sorry to hear that you are having a tough time elf-song. My biggest complaint (lol) was bone pain and I have no appetite. I didn't realize that the pain would be so severe. But this is a journey for all of us and learning all the time. my 2nd tx is scheulded for 12/3/08. I hope that the reaction won't be the same as the first. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope today is better than yesterday!

Hey everyone. Finally got everything fixed so I can post. I will be starting chemo on 11/21. TCH. 6 rounds every 3 weeks, then just the Herceptin every 3 weeks thru November 2009. I am getting nervous about the unknown and losing my hair. More the unknown of how I will feel and how my bosy is going to react. I am a group fitness instructor, personal trainer and triathlete and want to be able to continue to at least teach through treatment. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!
Would love to have all of us support each other through the journey!

Hi Ladies, had my first chemo on Wednesday. I'm on TAC every 21 days. It went well, I even met some new friends. Everyone is so positive at my center. Had Neulasta shot the day after chemo, and felt good on Thursday. My teeth hurt on Friday, then Saturday, Sunday and today I am very achy. I feel like I have the flu. Been eating alot of bananas (fresh and frozen) and frozen yogurt. My mouth is very sore, so anything cold really feels good. I'm told feeling so achy is normal, although it's frustrating feeling like crap. I am working my full time job and will try my best to be here everyday. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do! 5 more treatments and on to the next phase. My Onc. has me on iron, b1,b6,b12,folic acid, and zoloft daily. I took cortisone, zofran, emend, claritan, and pepcid the day of and the 2 days following treatment. Hope all is well with everyone, HANG IN THERE! Sarah

Hi Ladies, well my hair finally started fallling out last Thursday. Exactly 2 wks since my first tx. I went to the Salon and had the rest of my head shaved. It feels great. I had to do it there was hair everywhere. Going in for 2nd tx. on Friday.
My bones finally quit aching. But after Friday, here we go again!
I will be getting a Neulasta shot on Saturday to help with WBC's. I heard that causes bone pain to.
-
Hi Patricia! I bet you have a beautiful head! Can't wait for the bones to STOP aching! You give me hope! Bald is beautiful ya know! Thanks for the update! Sarah
-

Chemo girls: The nurse I'm working with told me not to wait until I already felt bad to take a med. If you have an inkling of sickness...take that anti nausea pill! Sarah
-
Hi Ladies !!!!!! Read all of your updates - Hang in There !!!!!!!!!
Here is my mom's update. She is having TAC every 3 weeks. She had her 1st treatment yesterday. She took steroid pills for 2 days started the day before. The evening of chemo she started Zofran (will take 6 doses) - then at night - she took Ativan (which helped her sleep better). She is doing ok so far. The treatment itself she was worried about but it wasn't too bad because the nurses were so good and they were able to find her vein in one go. Usually they have hard time finding her veins so she was happy about that. She doesn't have a port or picc line. Today is just second day - hope she doesn't have it too bad. I have heard that day 3 to day 7 are worst. Is that right???????
-
Ok here I go! I have my first treatment in the morning, and my fiance is coming with me. I have been so anxious all day, we are going to dinner to get out of the house tonight! Hopefully I can get some sleep. I'll update you with how it goes...I have to suck it up and do it....I'll be in that office until April!
-
HEY SARAH, I see your in New Braunfels. I'm here in Austin. Were do you go for chemo? You're right it was beautiful here in central Texas!!! Patricia
-
Hi Ladies, today I had my first bloodwork since chemo. I have neutropenia. My white count is low. (510) At first the nurse panicked and said here, put this mask on.you shouldn't be around people who might be sick. Scared the crap out of me, then I passed my onc in the hall and he said, yes be careful but a mask is not necessary. I feel great, I have walked for 15 minutes the last 2 days and did 30 minutes last night. I think I overdid it because I'm sore today. Walking is really helping with the bone discomfort. It sort of feels like I'm getting everything out of my body...Anywho.....Hope everyone is having a good day today and Mela, take one day at a time! Patricia, I'm getting chemo at Cancer Care Center of South Texas in New Braunfels. Take Care Ladies! Sarah
-
Hi Sarah, I too had neutrpenia. I developed an infection and fever for 3 days. My onc gave me antibiotics. I'm better now accept I am afraid to go to the grocery store. Friday is my 2nd tx. Maybe I can see my grandson this weekend. He's 3.
Thats good there's a Cancer Center there in New Braunfels. Walking is the best thing you can do right now. I've always jogged, but since I have these expanders I'm afraid to, so I walk everyday. it is good for the bones and it helps if I start feeling down in the dumps.
Mela, I hope everything went well for you today. Patricia

hey everyone! Well one Chemo down...lots to go, but today went pretty well. My nurse was wonderful, she is a cancer survivor as well. My fiance came with me, and the nurse taught us about everything. She told me to drink lots of water, to use this special mouth wash a few times a day, and to take my meds if I feel sick. They gave me lots of anti-nausea meds first then the Adrimicyn-which is red, they pushed that in. Then the cytoxan, which took about 40 mins. Dan and I did some crosswords while that was going. I have to go in tomorrow for a Neulasta shot, and I'm praying that I feel well on Friday so my oncologist lets me go home to see my family. Thanks for all the well wishes, and good luck to those going into Chemo soon.

Hi,
I was dx 10/16/08 with IDC stage II, triple neagative, 1/7 nodes +. I am having my first of 4 AC tx's in 2 hours. which will be followed by 12 weekly tx's of Taxol and then bilateral mastectomy. Honestly, I'm just grateful to finally be starting tx. I (like all of you, I'm sure) have spent so much time getting diagnostic tests done these last few weeks, that I'm looking forward to getting on with the fight and taking control of something!
I feel pretty good at the moment, because I really believe You only get what you can handle!! With support, we can handle anything.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories.
Good luck, Be well.
Kelli
