Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been dx with mets.  I just "spoke" with you about Joni and I'm just so very upset for you.  I'll be praying for you to have strength and that you will feel God's peace about every step and decision you need to make.  You know we'll all be checking in on you.

Dear Ladies, I'm sorry to have been out of touch and thank you for the "wave".  School's been a very busy place and I do pop into the boards to see how dear ones are doing.  I'll be praying for everyone as we enter our check-up phases.  Mine is in early January - with some new digital technology.  Boobs on the big, LCD screen? Surprised

Anyway, much, much love to you all and I'll be a better correspondent in the next few days.

    Christine

Okay, here's a Kinder story.  We're studying the jobs and services in our neighbourhood and community.  We're going to interview the people who work in the school and so we were making a chart of names.  One of the kids said, oh, I know someone to put on the chart, it's Mrs. Stabler.  I said, okay, what does Mrs. Stabler do at our school (she's the Grade 5 teacher).  There was a pause and then someone said, she "stables" things. Then someone in my other class said that my Educational Assistant was "just here to play with us". Cool

Gotta love the 5 year old mind.

Thank you all so much for caring about me and praying for me. I did feel you with me. No one else understands like you guys do.... I just love you so much!

Diana, I went to the links, too, and I am so glad you were able to make your dream come true by opening your shop. I know you will touch many people and help them when they are at their lowest. Very inspirational!

Keenie, five year old minds are the greatest! :-) I'm glad you get to surround yourself with them to keep yourself young. I'm so glad your job is taking roll every day. ;-)

Seriously, gals, you mean so much to me. We need to post here more often!

Some great news!  My first grandchild, Oliver, was born November 17 and weighed in at 8lbs. 9 oz.  We were in the waiting room for about 7 hours with the other set of grandparents.  We all thought he'd be a little quicker about it since he's been threatening to appear since 27 weeks.  Everyone came through it just fine, though.Smile

I'll post a picture when I can figure out how to disable the pop-up blocker for a little while.

I'm at my son's now, helping out, since he had to go back to work today.  I got to play with the baby and hold him a lot while his mom rested up.

Congratulations Maxie....don't you just love that new baby smell and their snuggles.  It is truly amazing to look at that little being that came from your little being.  Enjoy!!!!!

I also have a picture  with this saying " Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing our kids"....says it perfectly don't you think?

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

    Oooh - a new grandbaby! I just love to smell a newborn's head.Kiss

Congratulations Grandma Max! What a joy to begin the holiday season with such a blessed event.

Diana - I am so impressed with you for following your dream of service to other women with cancer. You certainly got a lot of great press!  Did you take special training to offer lymphedema sleeves? How about bra/prosthesis fittings? I guess that's more instinctive - if it feels comfy and looks like a woman wants it to - that's a success! Thanks for the offer to find anything for us. Actually I'm looking to get a t-shirt (like one my sister had 15 years ago) that says "Dain-Bramaged"  Tongue out Wink

Holly - whoo-hooo on the new RED Mini. What fun! Thank you for offering to come and visit me. I'll be at the Sunset facility in No Hollywood, practically right next to the Scientology Center. LA is so huge, you could be an hour away or more - but if you are nearby I'd love to have an opportunity to meet you! I'll be there Dec. 2nd.3rd.4th

Christine, I always enjoy your kindergarten tales. What a fun environment to visit every day - the 5 yr old perspective!

Many thanks to you all for good wishes, encouragement and prayers. We went through it together - I guess one of us had to be first to go Stage IV. Hope I'm the last, too!

Congrats on two years, Keenie. I was dx at the beginning of November 2 years ago, too. So, you're right behind me. God is good to have given us the time He has already and for the gift od each additional day.

I went to work yesterday and found out my position had be restructured out of my city. I didn't see it coming at all, so I am still reeling from the news. I'm probably going to take a lesser job and less pay and stay there, though. I'll know more by the end of next week. My company 'laid off' (or whatever it's called) over 100 people. Blech!

    Hard times.... hard times!

    Love you all,

    Miss S

Oh, Miss S - what an awful event - 'restructured'! I hope you are able to stay there and that the time you are on lesser duties is minimal. They already know you can do so much for them, and I'll just bet your responsibilities won't diminish much. Just the paycheck. Money mouth You'll be able to maintain your benefits, right?

Thanks for the congratulations on the new grandson, everyone.  He is such a sweetie, and I'm completely in love.

Keenie -- Congrats on hitting the two-year mark NED!

MissS -- What a shock about your job!  They always cut jobs right before the holidays, although I guess the companies are thinking more in terms of the end of the year.  Still...   I'm glad to hear you'll at least have a place there, and like Lisa said, they know what you can do, so maybe you'll be able recover somewhat in the pay department as things settle down.  Hard times, indeed.

Lisa -- How are you feeling?   You sound energetic in your posts.

Diana -- Your shop is so impressive and such a good idea.  I'm in awe that you were able to pull it together so quickly.  Congratulations!

Yes, I was thinking about you too, Lisa.   Weren't you having tests or something this week? Let us know how you're feeling.

The economy is pretty grim and we Canadians are going to be feeling it very soon too.  Especially in Ontario. . . but with oil at $40 a barrel, even us Albertans are going to have to tighten the belt.

     Hope everyone is feeling well.

Hey girls - I'm feeling pretty okay. I'm glad my posts at least sound energetic Wink it takes me forever to type them and my words still won't come easily.

Yes, Christine, I was involved in tests and treatments like crazy this week. The fatigue is catching up to me - and all that contrast isotope. I had (within a 48 hour period this week) my 2 MRIs of the head, a CT scan, Novalis Shaped Beam stereotactic radiation treatment - then came back from LA on Thursday only to have a PET/CT scan on Friday. I am glowing, I tell ya!

I am slightly dingy from the treatment effects or the meds I am having to take - or a bit of each. I am shakier than I'd like - but I made it to church this morning and to the Farmers Mkt. and a Trader Joe's run - but I had to cancel out on the evening Christmas  Concert and Soup Supper with my friends. Frown I just ran totally out of steam. I've got another day before I am scheduled to work on Tues/Wed (a packed ten-hour day) so I'm trying to moderate my meds where I can and eat high-protein to get my stamina up.

    It's been an adventure!

Now I want to get my Christmas decorations up!

Christine that's great that you are celebrating 2 yr anniversary and feeling well.  Congrats!

Miss S it's great that you have pasted the 2 year mark...Congrats to you also!   How's the heart doing?  Sorry to hear about the job situation...this economy is scary.

Lisa...it is so good to hear from you.  You've have been in my prayers constantly.  Sounds like you have been scanned from stem to stern and I bet you are glowing.  After my last PET scan they told me to stay away from small children for 24 hours, so I understand your statement about glowing.  10 hour work days....do you feel strong enough for that...take care of yourself.  Know that I'm here for you...praying that the radiation is zapping those nasty little cells.

     Hugs to all,

    Nancy

    Hi everyone,

Yes, it is wonderful that I still have a job and I was able to keep my insurance. I am trying to look on the bright side and have a properly grateful spirit. It could be much worse!

Lisa, I am so happy you are feeling good and that no new mets were found in your scans (from another thread)!!! *cartwheels* What wonderful news for the holidays! Maybe you can get your decorations up now and have a jolly ole Christmas!

    Love you all!

My sweet sisters - I thank you for your special prayers. You are such a blessing to me and it means so much that you still remember me to the Big Guy. I still haven't noticed the improvement I so desperately hope for, but I tell myself that there's a good reason they don't scan again for nearly eight weeks, Give the latency period time to do its magic!

Holly, do not worry about one missed opportunity - there will be more to come! In fact, I'll probably have greater flexibility to meet up with you on my return trip, on I think 1/29/09 - than I had during the treatment itself. I can't believe you are so close by! Take a look at your calendar and pencil me in, please.

Unfortunately my work success post-treatment was short-lived. I lost my job the second day back due to tremors in my hands, Until these tremors go away, it appears to be too much of a safety issue, though I would NEVER compromise the care of my patients. It's the appearance of lack of control that did me in.

Fortunately my SSDI did come through on an expedited approval (brain tumors'll do that for ya!). Unfortunately, it's all screwed up because a clerk somewhere ASSUMED I would be eligible for CA State disability and adjusted my SSDI waaaay downward to reflect this. I had only been back at work on a temp. part-time basis and had not built up anywhere near the credits to get State Disability. Of course, this affects all back monies I am owed and will likely take more time to fix than the whole approval process in the first place. It takes two weeks to get an appointment to talk with someone on the phone!

So I am taking a break from all that for a few days - Christmas is still a magical time for me. And I hope for you, too. Count your blessings!

    My Dear Sisters,

Dropping in to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy New Year!  I don't know what I would have done without you...for advice, support and just plain old getting it.  Though I had many friends and family supporting me through this journey, no one understands like you do.

Health, happiness and prosperity in 2009!

    Love,

    Nancy
