To Boca or Not to Boca...that is the question
This has probably been discussed in this forum, but I can't find it. I'm actively trying to lose weight and have become hooked on Boca burgers. I'm ER/PR+ and now I'm worried about eating this stuff every day. I've googled, but can't find a specific answer to this question. Any guidelines for safe usage as far as how many servings per week is safe...or doesn't it matter?
I was eating ground flax every morning and then I read some studies that completely contradicted studies indicating flax could prevent recurrence and instead may, in fact, lead to recurrence. So I stopped the flax.
My head is spinning. I don't want to do anything that counteracts the Arimidex, but need to find a healthy way to eat to help me lose the Arimidex weight. I've pretty much given up red meat and was thrilled to be able to replace it with Boca burgers. Am I playing with fire if I eat it every day?

I saw a nutritionist, and she's not opposed to eating soy, but she recommends natural form only (edamamme, some tofu). The only thing she said not to take is soy supplements, loke for hot flashes.
I know it's really hard to lose weight on hormonals - my weight loss slowed dramatically after I started. But I still believe in rotating proteins, and trying not to eat any one more than 2 or 3 times a week.
And it's not always meat - low fat cheese and black beans make a great tortilla, hummus with cut up veggies, and I do try to eat fish a couple of times a week. I won't get into lentils, but I do like them, and meat-free minestrone, got to stop. Getting hungry.

Thanks for the response, Sue. I've decided to eat them no more than 3 times a week. Disappointing because I enjoy them, they fill me up, and satisfy any burger cravings I may get. I feel as though I'm not being deprived or sacrificing, as I do with some "diet" food, when there's a Boca burger on my plate.

I have no info on Boca burgers but I need to share this with you......
I got a call on 8/19 from my cardiologist's office telling me that dr wanted me to watch my diet because my trigylcerides were on the high side. I was surprised at that reading since I don't eat a lot of saturated fats. However, in reseaching the cause I found the number one culprit to be sugar. I found a website on low glycemic index and there was a list of foods - eat this/don't eat this. It was pretty easy to follow since there were no numbers to count, etc.
I have lost all my chemo and Arimidex weight (16lbs) starting on 8/19. One of my friends is thrilled out of her mind because she is seeing numbers on her scale that she hasn't seen for 20 years. She figured that at her age she just couldn't lose anymore weight. Another friend lost 10lbs that no other diet, including her stints at Weight Watchers, could get rid of. I munch on fruit & veggies all day and am never hungry. The nurses at all my dr's offices are so impressed when I go in for f/u visits and all want the "secret"......lol
The website is free and if you'd like it, pm me and I'll paste the link in.
