I have struggled with heavy periods for about 10 years.  4 years ago I had an endometrial Ablation.  I called it successful as I could now leave the bathroom & House.  Drs called it unsuccessful as I still had heavy 7-10 day periods.  But they were a normal livable heavy.

Anyway,  Sept after surgery my period (I call them Dots)   Was heavy & long- About 14 days...On day 7 when it should have been ending it restarted with a vengence.  Big Clots & all.  I was hoping it was just because of Surgery.

It happened again this month...I only get a 10-12 day break inbetween & Im sick of it.  Im anemic & dont want to take Iron as that isnt a good idea if you have bc.

Im so depressed today.   I know I will end up getting a hysterectomy.  So it will be a 3rd surgery I am facing coming up (need Heart  Surgery & a 2nd Exchange too)  Trying to schedule my 2 surgerys around a 2 week dot will stress me out.

To top it off I go on vacation in a few weeks.  I will have my dot the whole time & its so unpredictable Its going to mess everything up Frown

Just needed to vent

Oh, geez, Pam, you're in a difficult place. I'm sorry.

I hope you make it through your vacation without too much discomfort. It's always wise to take care of the source of anemia when you have a heart condition, so hopefully your doctors will show you the way. Don't forget your iron tabs to build up your blood, and some folate.

Thinking of you during your ongoing trial, and wishing you a great vacation.

    Thank you Tender.

Can you tell me why its not good to be Anemic with heart problems.    I didnt know that was a concern.

Last night when I went to take all my Suppliments...I grabbed the Tumeric Bottle & thought...Hmm a Blood thinner...I stopped taking it 2 weeks before my Surgery in Sept & resumed it about 1 week later when I started my Dot.  (although I took it all summer with no problems)

So last night I didnt take it...I will skip it for a month & see what happens.

Do you think something like that can effect ones period?  I cant seem to find any info on if it might.

I think you will feel much, much better after a hysterectomy.  I have two good friends who went through it and were thrilled with the results and said it was actually fairly easy surgery.

    Hi Dejaboo,

Anemia can compromise a cardiac issue by the reduced number of red cells. The heart tends to pump faster when anemia, trying to maximize the flow of blood to the heart and vital organs, all dependent of course on oxygen.

So, in general, anemia, active blood loss (such as from a woman's cycle) and heart conditions need to be medically addressed sooner than later. But of course your own physicians are the ones who direct your medical care, and I'm sure you're in communication with them about this all.

Fall is a lovely time for vacation. I hope the colors are beautiful wherever are. I have found the tree leaves to be particularly awesome this fall.

    Ok- Thanks Tender.

I think all of My Drs are missing the boat & are not in sync at all. Frown

Why we wouldnt even know about my Heart problems if I hadnt persisted with my Onco...Still it took 10 years of me Telling them about my symptoms & saying something wasnt right- before I was dx.

I see my Cardio  on Monday (only for the 2nd time)  And will let him know I am anemic.

Its snowing here today in MN- Very pretty- a Peaceful Snow...Next snow I will hate though- LOL

Leaves are all gone.  They were very pretty.

We are going to Sanibel Island & will relax & Collect lots of Seashells.

    Pam.

Sorry about your 'dot' problems. Do you know, I must be the only female that I know who has sailed thru my 'dots' with absolutely no problem at all...can't believe it ! so I can't imagine what you must be going thru.

How nice you have some pretty snow. I love it when its twinkling down slowly. I went to Florida some years ago, and was itching to get to Sanibel Island, my ex. wouldn't hear of it , I was mad, and all I saw when we were driving past was the signYell All I wanted to do was to collect some of those seashells.

Hope you get your docs sorted out soon.

    Isabella.

    Im so upset right now.

My Cardio put me back on Plavix on Thursday.(only 5 days ago)..Along with 81 mg aspirin ( i had just been on 325mg aspirin) ...He wanted it started 2 weeks before my heart surgery.  Well more really- But No One ever told me that!  And since I wasnt given a perscription for it - that would have been hard to do- dont you think??

My Heart Surgery is in 1 week.

My Period is extremely heavy tonight & it is day 9.  I really dont think it will be over in a week.

I am passing lots of big clots (sorry)

The Plavix warnings say to contact your Dr if your Period Increases.

I will call him in the am.  But his Nurse is not nice & he never returns calls.  And I take my pills in the morning : (

And what is he going to say- Stop Plavix.  No.  I dont know if I can even go to family houses for the holidays if things dont settle down.  I will need to stay at or in the bathroom.

I cant stay on this drug for 6 months & last time for 1 month my SE were severe...I am just waiting for that to kick in.

I told my Dr that Plavix would do this to me.  Of course they never believe that a period will get heavier from a Blood Thinner!

I am so mad- this will make Christmas even suckier.

I guess I am ranting ...I just dont know what to do & im scared.

Wish me luck that it slows down- Alot!

    Dear Pam,

I had a uterine hyst. in my 30;s after a long history of bleeding and pain.  I must say it was the best decision I've ever made!  You will feel so much better getting rid of the baby carriage and keeping the playpen.

I was a totally new person when my blood levels returned to normal and I didn't have to mess with pads and pads and pads.

I bought all new panties after surgery!  It was so great to have ones that were not stained in some way.

    Thanks Iodine,

It is on my list of things I may have to do.  That or another Uterine Ablation- had one 4 years ago.  Was mildly successful

But I need to figure out something in the mean time...As I can not have surgery for 6 months or more after my heart surgery.

And Fixing my Uniboob (surgery) is top on my list before Anything else!

My Dot seems to have stopped- Yeah!!!

So for now I am ok- will be back in 10 days already : (

    Pam
