Well the biopsy was not so bad.  About a minute of pain.  I guess it's worth it.  He said the lining should be .4 to .6 mm and mine was .10 on the ultrasound so even though I did not have bleeding it warranted a biopsy.  He was hardly able to scrape anything off and he said it looked very normal.  I have a little bit of cramping and spotting but nothing that I really even notice.  It wasn't very pleasant.  He said it would take 10 seconds and it was more like 60, but if you need one, it is not something to be afraid of.  Looking forward to the weekend...

Mary, that's great news that he said it looked normal.  I had an edometrial ablation 2 weeks before I was diagnosed with BC (all for nothing really).  I had to have a biopsy before the surgery and I remember it just about like you.  Hurt for more than he said, wasn't the most pleasant experience, but certainly not the worst either.  I'm looking forward to the weekend too! :)

    love and hugs,

    Lynn

Great news Mary. I'm sure the final results will be normal.

I saw my onc. today for my 3 month check up.  I made a big batch of choc. chip cookies to take to the chemo nurses - they were so happy to see me looking so "well".  They are such a great bunch of gals, and of course they are working with ill patients all the time, they are thrilled to see a discharged patient come back to visit them looking good.

So my onc. thinks I should see a urologist for a cystoscopy - just to be 100% sure that there is nothing physcially wrong down there.  He really doubts there is, but he wants me to be checked.  So I'll have to go back to my GP to be referred to someone.  If there is nothing wrong, he agreed with my GP that should these UTis continue, I should be on a prophylactric antibiotic (Macrobid) in a low dose for awhile.  So we'll see.  It's been 2 weeks ( wow - a whole 2 weeks!!) since I finished my last round of antibiotics. Otherwise he says I am doing fine, asked me if I am considering reconstruction - I told him if I do anything, it would be an implant.  When he was giving me the once over he said that I don't have alot of skin on the mast. side, which I know because of the breast reduction followed by the mast. He said that a PS would have to make the final call but he said to be very careful if I do it, there can be skin problems later if the skin does not respond well to the expander.  Okay, so I'm not exactly running to do this.

DH threw out his back this morning - he has been laying on the couch all day.  He crawled into the kitchen to eat dinner.  I called my pharmacist to see if I could give him anything stronger thatn xtra strength Tylenol, and I have Tylenol 3 with codeine on hand, which she said would not interfere with his other meds.  He wants to take one before he goes to bed - that should be fun, I don't know how he'll make it up the stairs without being in agony. - OY!! It's always something...

Caya, hope your 3 mos. went well.  I wonder if he/she will be able to shed any light on the UTI stuff.

Oh, Mary, I hate to say it, but even just reading that B9 description of an endo. biopsy makes me sooooooooooo want to put it off.  I want to ask my onco. next week abotu whose responsibility it is to make sure I get ultrasounded and hopefully, not, biopsied...

Took Paul to his end of year soccer pizza party tonight.  The coach is a sweetheart.  He gave a good one minute speech about each sixth grade boy and they were all just beaming.  He made them all feel so important, so part of the team.  It was nice.  I felt like I'd been part of this community forever...  there really are a lot of nice people around.  Thanksgiving Speech...Part II.  :)

Mary, glad the biopsy is over, it sounds  very unpleasant. And Caya, glad they are following up with the uti situation; what does the csytoscopy involve; anything with scopy sounds scannish. Is it similar to a colonoscopy?  Ouch. And Sharon, I am sorry they are seeing something on the rib, and really hope it isn't mets. But if so, at least it's one bone, no organs, and they can control it. I am not meaning to minimize it, and perhaps it won't be anything in the end. I am just so sorry that so many of us are still worried and getting all these tests two years out. I wonder if it ever really ends?

Tina, the banquet sounds fun, and the coach just right for the kids. You do seem happy in the new neighborhood. I hope you can stay there and really put down roots. I know you miss your Ohio friends ... it's hard to make good new friends.

Ok, off to work. Stay safe and strong all.

I am so sorry about your rib...it may still turn out to be nothing, and I am crossing my fingers, but if not, we are here for you.

Caya I am glad that you are moving on the UTI situation..that is such a nusiance to say the least.

heading out this morning to give a second round of midterm exams.  Looking forward to three hours of watching students fill in scantrons NOT!

Oh, Sharon, that really sucks.  Hate that word, but fitting here.  You seem to be handling it very calmly and not overreacting.  Hopefully, it's nothing.  How do they figure out if it is mets?  A PET scan?

Heading out to Go Bananas to pick up Jaclyn's x-mas gifts.  She made a wish list there yesterday and I'm going to grab the stuff and hide it.  She was cute...there were 12 lines on the list and she kept saying to save one for something for Paul.  :)

Sharon - sorry to hear about "possible" mets - let's hang on to that word possible.  Of course we are all still praying that it is NOT mets.  However, I know women in my chemo room that have been having bone mets controlled for many years.  Like Melia, I am not trying to minimilize it at all.  Enjoy your visit to the ROM I hear that exhibit is nice - you should try to get over to The Bay at Queen and Yonge to see the Xmas windows too.

Tina - what is Go Bananas?  a clothing store?  please enlighten me, I've never heard of it.

Oh, Sharon, damn!  I hate that you have to worry about this although you seem to be handling it fine.  I agree with everyone, let's  not even go there until we have to.  They only said possible, after all, which means it is very possibly NOT mets!  Let us know what your gp says, and what they are going to do to decide.  Sending positive thoughts your way.

Caya, Go Bananas is a two store chain, high end toy store here in Northern Virginia.  Prices may be a few dollars higher than Toys R Us, but quite frankly, it's a lot easier...it's much smaller and quicker to get in and out.  I got nearly all her gifts today, in one day, brought them home and took them upstairs to a utility closet.  I even bought a hasp/lock to install on that door as she found her b'day gifts in there in Sept.  Sure enough, she's not home five minutes and she opens the door.  She saw some stuff, but not all, thank God.  She is on the fence about Santa, but still kind of believes.  She's way too young to not believe.  Hell, Paul believed until age 10.  She's wise beyond her years, though.

Anyone following the Casey Anthony case?  It finally seems like the walls are closing in on her, thank God.  I have a strong feeling that Texas Equisearch will find that body this weekend.  I hope so, as those parents need closure.  What a mess.  That girl is a major sociopath.  The female Scott Peterson.

23 hours without a post! Whoa!  What's everyone up to?  I had a nice Saturday.  I went to the eye dr. this am and got new contacts....happy about that.  After that, my neighbor Patty and I went "model homing"...went to see several new model homes to check out the decorating.  Got lots of nice ideas...it was fun and free.  Tonight we ended up having an impromptu fire pit get together over at their house.  The girls got their sleeping bags, we had some wine and chatted....lots  of fun.  It's only 7:50 pm and it feels like midnight, it's so dark.  I'm making some pasta, sausage and garlic bread now, going to watch AMW and call it a night.  Paul is spending the night at the Embassy Suites w/our next door neighbor, Zion's mom....she had carpets cleaned and the whole house was soaked, so she had hotel points and took, Paul, Milan, Zion and her one year old, E.J., to spend the night at the hotel, swim, have pizza...I'm sure he's having a ball...  God, I am feeling so much more at home here the last month...

Sharon, we must have posted at the same time.  So, a "lesion".... that term could apply to many things, right?  B9 things?  I'm glad the dr. was calm/cool about it.

Don't worry about x-mas being different w/out kids around.  ALL Christmases are good!

Just had our birthday celebrations...my youngest son's, my older son's future father-in-law and me!  Had a great time.  Everyone got alone well.  We listened to some wedding music and drank some wine.  I know I won't sleep well with all of the excitement but it was fun having everyone here.  One celebration down for November, two to go - the shower next weekend and then Thanksgiving.  Sharon, I hear the worry in your note...we are here for you.  Tina, glad you are making new friends.  You are really doing well adapting to your new home.  Hope everyone else is well...Hugs

Happy Birthday, Mary!  Glad it was fun.  Another gorgeous day here today.  Great fall weather.  I have lots on my to do list but not sure where I'll start.  Probably get some laundry done first so the DH isn't complaining.  Then, off to a few stores to pick up a few things.

Sharon, so we wait until Wednesday - guess we have no choice, but remember we are all waiting with you and hoping/praying for good news.  I'm sure it doesn't have to be bone mets - still could be something else, so try not to worry.  And take your meds!  Big hugs to you.

Tina, you sound so happy - glad you're feeling at home in the new place, but I think you have a gift for that.  I love going to see the model homes, too.

Mary, happy birthday - glad you had a fun time with the triple celebration.  When are you going to update your avatar for us, with your new hairdo?

Rebecca, have I told you lately that I am still living on your hummus recipe?  Love that stuff.

My friend called me last night to tell me that her father had been shot and killed on a boat in Venezuela.  They were retired, temorarily anyway, and just sailing their boat around.  I don't think it was even a robbery - it was some locals, who asked for water, then pulled a gun and shot him.  The world is really a dangerous place.  Of course, it could happen  anywhere, but Venezuela is scarier than most places.  They just shut down the Venezuelan consulate here and deported the personnel - makes me wonder if it is related in some way.

Well, we have a wedding reception to go to this afternoon, so I'd better get up and dressed.  Everyone have a good Sunday.

Mel, I'm not sure about my hair yet.  The color is not as blonde as I would have liked but it wasn't worth going back to have it redone.  It looks very natural just not glamorous.   I'm still trying to grow it out to one length but the bang is falling in my eyes so I have to pin it back with a barrette.  Coloring it made it even drier...guess I need to go buy some good conditioner. Maybe this week someone will take my picture and I'll post it.

Sharon - I'm with everyone else in hoping this is something harmless. Please let us know what you find out.

We had a busy, busy weekend. Friday I had my 3 month onc visit. I really hate going to that office. Fortunately it was an uneventful visit this time.

Saturday the girls and I cleaned the fish tanks and then celebrated by going to the pet store and getting a few new fish. Saturday afternoon we went to the sheepdog trials - an annual fall tradition for us. The girls enjoy watching the border collies is action (its a 2 day competition), there were also lots of kids activities including some neat logic mazes. We took the dogs along too - so it was a big day for everyone.

Last year I bought a pair of trail running shoes with the intent of starting to do trail running. I've finally just gotten around to going out and running on trails - it's not something I want to do alone - but I've now convinced my brother to run with me. We went last week and 3 miles on hilly trails nearly did me in - my legs were sore for days. We went again this morning and it wasn't quite as bad - mostly I think because we picked an easier section of trail. Anyway, the fall leaves were gorgeous, and the trail follows the edge of a lake - so it was just beautiful.

This afternoon we took the kids to the Renaissance Festival - another family fall tradition. We rode a camel and elephant and a bunch of rides, spent too much time in the maze, and saw some great shows. We were all exhausted by the time we left. Yet somehow I still managed to get in an hour of rock climbing tonight. Then - I rushed home to clean the house so that the cleaning lady can come tomorrow. I'm beat. I've got some work to do tonight then I am going to enjoy some well deserved time vegging in front of my new favorite show - True Blood.

back to page 2 ha ha ....

Well we went to the ROM our museum yesterday , what a building  it has a "cube " added onto its exterior . The exterior of a old limestone place which they maybe should have left alone , but it does attract alot of people . Marie Antoinette's dress was on display along with massive dinosaurs , Jan , Tina , Rebecca your kids would have loved them ! Then we went for a walk along the upscale shopping district , Caya I was tempted to go in the prada store but the kids were bound for the flagship HMV music store a jaunt south of where we were .... me and dh like the music store too as we are quite the classical rock buffs . After walking a bit down yonge st we took the subway back up .... and then proceeded to view the store fronts of Holt renfrew , a little side street took us to sassafras a upscale restaurant where all stars go for dinner when they come here for the Toronto film festival . We parked the car at hazelton lanes another indoor upscale mall . What a day to people watch , and the fashions ! oh my , nice Mercedes sports cars too . There was also a line up of tour buses at the four seasons with lots of groupies hanging out to get a glimpse for whom ever was on the buses ...... we did not wait we had to get our butts out of the city to beat any traffic jams we may have getting out ...... I love the city its Canada's "Manhattan "

Got my mind off of things ...... now if only I could win the lottery and buy some of those clothes and prada bags !

Sharon, glad you had such a nice day.  I agree...nothing like visiting a vibrant city to forget all your troubles.  I imagine that if I lived one, I would be totally distracted...  from you and Caya's stories about Toronto, I'm putting it on my "to do" list.

Nothing too new here today.  Got some bills paid online, straightened out a mini insurance fiasco over rx coverage....I'm transitioning to the new insurance and they ran $400 worth through the old...the old then billed me.  Fun, fun.

Went to Target to try to find a few things on Paul's x-mas list but no luck.  I'll need to hit Toys R Us tomorrow.  I drove over to Jaclyn's school tonight to p/u the "Market Day" order, which is a grocery fundraiser for schools.  The place was in blackness.  Duh!  It's tomorrow night.  I showed up last week at her school for an event that's next week.  I was off TWO days in my guess as to what day of the week it was the other day when talking with the DH.  Since I planned to do my Thanksgiving road trip, I'm very preoccupied and scatterbrained.  I did manage to get nearly all my x-mas gifts that I need to drag up there w/me wrapped today.  I need to find something for my SIL's b-day.....I'll probably hit Steinmart for that...  other than that, I have my onco. appt. on Thurs.  I THOUGHT IT WAS NEXT WEEK!  Thank God for those automated messages they leave you.  Also, I forgot to ensure that my cardiologist is covered by the new insurance and I need to do that as I have a Monday appt. and echo.  I CERTAINLY don't want to have to pay out of pocket for that...

    Hello dear Ta Tas,

I  have been up to my eyeballs in boring computer work - doing my customer confirmations for Spring 2009 - very time consuming, you have to pay attention to every little detail etc. It's not rocket science, but someone has to do it (moi)- you can only sit at the desk and do the keystroking for so long before the back, neck and shoulders are ready to cry out for Aleve - OY!!

Jan - good for you doing trail running.  I can't run, my knees could not handle it anymore.  I got back on the treadmill yesterday and today, after a nice summer and fall of walking outside. Glad your onc. visit was uneventful.

Sharon - sounds like you had a great time downtown. I often forget that downtown TO really IS the Manhattan of Canada. I've been to Sassafras, in the olden days it was called something else . Sharon I used to work right there in office tower on Bloor St. (Fifth Ave. of Toronto)  In my younger days, right out of college, I was the PR assistant for Cartier (the Jewellers).  You are really a cool cucumber Sharon - the waiting is awful, yet you are handling it very well.

Tina - I blame everything on chemobrain, that's my excuse for it all.  I LOVE Steinmart - Whenever we were in Boca at MIL's condo, I'd go to the Plaza on Glades to that store.  No Steinmart in Canada, just crappy discount stores like Winners - TJ Maxx.

My hair is getting long, I guess I'm going to have to cave and get a trim before we go to Aruba in Dec.. - I'm going to leave it more or less the way it is now -soft curls again, just above my shoulders.  boy it really did grow after I finished Herceptin.

oh yes to work in downtown TO it was always a place that seemed soo for out of my reach when I was a kid . Raised in Winnipeg on the prairie and then moving to Calgary being here was a dream . There is so much culture here and being a wanna be artist its a dream come true . Now the art gallery here is have a new grand opening & is my next place on my list , maybe a little later as right now getting in there would be crazy .

Tina do not worry about forgetting ! With kids and appointments I have showed up on occasion thinking it was Wed when it was Tues :)

Tonight I am going to our local animal shelter for an interview with my youngest dd she has to get her 40 hrs of volunteer service in before she graduates high school . We would be walking shelter dogs and cleaning laundry and dog dishes . I was doing it before I got sick and its really good for your phycy as these dogs and cats and rabbits and little animals need all they lovin they can get . We do it on the weekends and sometimes do shows and help in a booth . With our big newfy Molly dogs are a big part of our family !

    Hi Ladies,

Can't believe I have been away from this board so long. I get spoiled with the email group; I check my emails 18 times a day whereas I have to go to laptop and log on to chat here. How lazy is that?

Sharon, let me first say Oh, Crap! But then keep hanging to that word "possible." Lesion is the word they use for that thing in my spine, too, that has been shown b-9 twice now, so I am going to believe yours will turn out the same way. I so admire your going to volunteer at the shelter.

Mary, I was just as happy to let Michigan win. Ouch on the endo biopsy. And Caya, the cystoscopy does not sound fun either. I'm thinking I probably should get a colonoscopy sometime. I see my onc next week and will ask him.

I'm finally starting to feel less tired from that Michigan trip, and now must go brush my teeth and drive to the dentist for the crown work I'd been putting off until I had clear scans. That sounds terrible but it's just how my mind was working. I'm thinking of you all, as always, and especially you Sharon for tomorrow, that is when you go back, right?

Good news the dress fits and looks great.  Okay, Caya, what color shoes to wear with a wine color dress with sequins that are sparkling.  I thought the sequiened top was going to be more silver but it's the same color as the dress, it just looks different in every light.  Its a May 30th wedding.  I was thinking silver shoes but not sure if the silver shawl type thing will look good with it.  It's fun to have something small in importance to worry about.  Sharon we are with you.

    Hi Mary,

Glad the dress fits and looks great.  Wine will be gorgeous on you.  Depending on the way the sequins look, you could go with a burnished gold/bronze or some kind of pewtery grey or silver strippy sandal, in either a metallic nappa or satin.  I wouldn't go too light, I think it would be too much of a contrast against the dress.  You can go with a darker shoe colour if the sandal is strippy or at least open toed, that makes it have a "lighter" feel, yet still be nice with dress.  Shawl colour?  I might try to get something in that wine colour - did you have the option of ordering a shawl that exactly matches the dress?

Yes it is nice to have something small to worry about.

And yes Sharon - sending positive vibes your way for tomorrow.

    Sharon,

I am so sorry you have to go through this waiting. I am also sending lots of positive vibes. A lesion does sound better than other things. Your day in Toronto was just what you needed. I am glad you had fun.

    Caya,

Aruba? That's great. Warm sun and relaxation. Maybe we should all meet you there. hmmmm. Our day will come  again.

    Mary,

I am so glad the dress fits and looks great. You are going to have so much fun!

    Have a great night everyone,
