p53 and KI-67......

I had an ultrasound done and they said that five lymph nodes are enlarged on the left side, in the arm pit. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I do some light exercise every now and then with both arms, as well as a message. The doctor told me that they will monitor it. I feel like my breast is burning sometimes, and a little under the arm pit sometimes too. Is that normal after radiation/surgery?

Another doctor did a test on the tumor that they took out way back in May (the test is called an "Immunohistochemistry Analysis". The p53 antibody is at 20% and the Ki-67 is at 80%. It says that this is an "unfavorable prognosis group". Does that mean that no matter what I do, it doesn't matter? Or does that really mean anything? I am extreamly depressed, even so after this test came back. Please help

I never had the p53 test, but my ki67 was 70%, and I'm doing ok so far.

I can tell you that all my receptor tests came back unfavorable, but I don't think that takes into account your future treatment.

So no, it doesn't mean no matter what you do, it won't help. It shows a snapshot in time, like a prognosis that changes with treatment.

I hope this helps. I understand seeing all those "unfavorable" listings, and thinking why bother.  For you, being ER/PR positive means you can take the anti hormonals, and being her2 positive means you can take herceptin.

Just wanted to add that I still have burning and pain at times in my breast and under arm. I attribute it to nerve damage and scar tissue.

Ki-67 is a measure of aggresiveness, so all yours is telling you is that you have an aggressive form of cancer which you already know since you're grade 3.

Do not ever assume that it is hopeless, I have spent a lot of time researching out the various aspects of my treatment and it always amazes me how often I run across women who were only given a few months to live yet they are still out there doing good years later.

It can take months to heal from radiation so I wouldn't be too terribly worried about some lingering pain.  I would also suggest checking over in the radiation forum, I remember seeing a thread about breast pain after radiation.
