Joni's celebration of life

Hi to all BC Sisters,

I went to Joni's celebration of life today.  We had such a beautiful and warm day in Calgary today.  There was a spectacular view with the mountains in the backgrown and the chinook arch in the sky.  It was just a perfect day.

The celebration was so much her.  There was many tears, but many laughs aswell.  If somebody could put a smile on your face, Joni was the one who could do it.  She also had a slide show of her life which included pictures of the Vegas trip on it.  You could see that the BC sisters had really touched her and were part of her life.  This could also be seen by the donation request to breastcancer.org in lieu of flowers on her obituary.

I met Dan (DH) and her sisters which were very nice.  They knew about us and mentioned the blog or the Tata girls with a smile.  Her sister mentioned that she had such a will to live and loved life to the max.  She was very positive, a true fighter and she never showed what the disease was really doing to her, which made it easyer for the family.

Joni is now a Beautiful Angel and may she rest in peace.  I will miss her so much and will vever forget her.  So long my dear friend...until we meet again.

Comfort hugs, Danie

Thanks so much Danie for posting this.  I am one of the Ta Tas group ( Jan. 2007 chemo sisters) that was in Vegas with Joni.  She really was the life of the party, and as you say, had such a zest for life.  I am so glad she was able to come to Vegas - we all had the privilege of meeting her.

Joni - may you rest in peace, I know you are watching over us all, as you said you would.

    Many hugs,

    Caya (Joni's fellow Canadian)

Danie, Thanks so much for posting this. I would have loved to have been there. Joni was so full of life and meant so much to all of us. I feel so lucky to have been able to spend some time with her this summer.

Danie, thank you for sharing your experience with us.  We were all there in spirit yesterday, I'm sure - I thought of her all day long, and I am sure there were plenty of smiles and laughs amid the tears, if Joni had anything to say about it.  I feel so privileged to have known her - she really knew what living life was all about, and we all learned from her.  Rest in peace, Joni - we miss you so!

Danie, thank you from me, too. I will always remember Joni in Las Vegas. She never complained or had anything bad to say about anyone. I'm glad I got to share a little time with her.

Even though I joined the January 2007 Chemo group a bit later than most of them, I still consider myself part of the TaTas. We all will miss Joni.

Hugs to you and anyone else who misses Joni.

    Joni,

The Candian Geese are flying south now. I see them daily flying over the Missouri River Valley where I am. I think of you.

I'm so very glad you were a gift in my life, even so briefly.

    Cindy
