Thanks y'all for the enjoyable luncheon. It's always so good to be with you - no matter how small or large the group.

I will be sure to take the suggestions you shared along with me to my oncology visit. Writing things down instead of relying on my limited communication skills was inspired!

Hi there.  I live in Wichita, KS.  I will be in Oceanside/San diego from Nov 1 to Nov 6.  I am originally from there, went to high school in Oceanside and my sister still lives out there.  I was wondering if any of you were getting together at that time?

Would be really great to meet some people from the boards!

     Take care,

    Teresa

    Hi Teresa,

I live in Vista. I don't have my day planner right here but I will check it later. I might be able to swing a week-day lunch next week.

Anybody else want to come to my neck of the woods to me another sister?

I can't escape during the week. Wish I could. For more than one reason.

Would the 2nd work? Maybe we could get more of our Sunday attendees. Of course that is mighty late notice. I ought to be able to make it on a day other than Wednesday.

Is there a pace you had in mind - preferably a smidge south of Vista? Wink

I should be able to do Sunday if anyone wants to join then. It doesn't have to be in Vista or Oceanside. How about a head count on who could make it this Sunday. That way we can see what area that works best.

Teresa-We can always ride together is that works.

I guess it's maybe short notice - the regulars don't seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Tongue out

I so far can make it on a weekday. My onc. ordered an "urgent" MRI (w/ and w/out contrast) and of course the Urgent Scheduler has not called me back. It's 4:15 on Friday.

Can't see what it can hurt to go ahead and set something up - I'll be there if at all possible.

LisaSDCA-You were at the onc today weren't you. Urgent MRI of what, dare I ask? What else did he say?

Teresa-I am pming you my cell phone number. Give me a call on Saturday and we'll see what we can set up.

An urgent MRI of the brain - sorry, I should have included that small detail. Undecided

We both know that triple negs have a proclivity for brain tissue. He said it's either mets or the worst case of chemo-brain he's ever seen. So, he felt we could at least treat the mets. I begged to differ and thought that a terminal diagnosis would be not something "we could treat", but maybe we could hope for a normal MRI and a referral to neurology. He agreed and said "Let's hope."

    Lisa

ps - I just got a call from the scheduler - Nov. 11th at 9:30 pm. They work late! Somehow I think that an MRI could be had this very evening if I were to go into Emergency.

Lisa-I figured that was it but just wanted to confirm. I am so sorry sweety. I did not know that about Triple Neg.

Sylvia-Praying all goes well for you on Monday.

Sylvia - this sucker just won't go away, will it!?! You already had the MRI? I will be thinking of you on the 3rd, sending good thoughts.

Brenda - I still believe that there is another explanation.besides brain mets. Speaking with my brother and sister tonight, seems they both have had bouts of aphasia. So maybe it is genetic. Surprised But it's not keeping either of them from architecture or senior law partner, so it's obviously NOT as disabling as mine. I did take SoCalLisa's suggestion to write it all down - I simply handed the paper to my onc.

My sister's first metastasis was to her brain, she was node neg. too. OTOH - she had an excellent response to therapy. It was her liver eventually that killed her..

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers Brenda and Lisa. I'm a mess--did get to the Dr a few weeks ago and told her i didn't think my pulse should be 120 and she agreed!!!! Anyway--got some ativan and I am mostly taking it B-4 bed to help me sleep but sometimes during the day I feel really stressed and take one.

Hope everything turns out OK for you Lisa---you are right ---it doesn't seem to end....and that is what i feel up against now.

Has anyone had any experience with the s/o from arimidex to tamoxifen? I was told to stop the arimidex because of a bad bone density test--but i had just bought 3 months of the stuff (Money mouth) I  finshed it and did not take anything for two weeks....and it has been particularly stressful since this recent episode----HOWEVER-----I started the tamoxifen on 10/16 and my mood is just in the crapper....and for those who know me...even when it was bad---I could always muster something----well now I'm just feeling really depressed and don't want to do or care about anything. I didn't give a thought to the tamoxifen until this am when I took it and wondered if I'm reacting differently to this? I 'm reasonably sure that the needle core bio- on Monday will show scar tissue or something NOT bad as the MRI was good---but i just cannot shake this depression....any thoughts?

    Hi Sylvia -

I'm sorry your mood is so crappy - but YES, the tamoxifen can cause depression. It's probably because you are coupling it with high anxiety that it is affecting you so badly. Double-whammy if I've ever heard of one!

"Depression or mood changes: A small number of women who take tamoxifen experience sharp mood swings or become severely depressed. Since depression can come on slowly, over a period of several months, some women do not realize that they are depressed. It also may be difficult to determine whether tamoxifen is the source of the patient's depression or if other stress factors (such as coping with breast cancer and/or going through natural menopause) have contributed to the depression. Depending on the individual situation, depression may be treated with counseling or other medications. Some physicians will recommend taking 30 to 60-day "breaks" from tamoxifen to help relieve depression."

Maybe after your bx of whatever it is (and I am so glad that your MRI showed nothing to be concerned about) it will be relieved somewhat. Is it issues in your profession that is also contributing to your anxiety? I'd say go ahead and take the Ativan for as long and as much as you need it. And maybe supplement it with an antidepressant. Isn't it Effexor that is safest for tamox use? Doesn't inhibit the CPY-or-something.

    Meanwhile, be good to yourself. If you need to have a day in your pj's just do it. Or if you think a movie with your daughter will give you a lift - extra popcorn! I don't mean to disparage your symptoms, but anything that might help get you out of this can't hurt! {{{Sylvia}}}

Sylvia-I take Femara and have been having severe bouts with depression. I don't know about the drugs but I think all this is part of the party. Sorry you are feeling bad. We all love you, sassy or not.

Hi guys---thanks for the good wishes. Brenda --i know you have talked about the depression and I guess i really get it now---Lisa ---there is some stress with my job---more pressure that I put on myself than anyone else--plus just trying to do a good job for my drs and their pts...and i really have to work another 5 yrs to get some good things built up---and now with the stock market---ugh!!!

For the most part--I'm confident that the bio will be nothing and show nothing---but until you hear those words ---you just don't know. And---this sample will be going to Quest and i guess it will be until Thurs or Fri until I know...I think my family thinks I've gone crazy cause of all of this but it is more the tamoxifen than the needle core bio!

     thanks,Sylvia

I did tamoxifen for a year and then the arimidex...most of the bad s/e

I had from the arimidex not the tamoxifen..

well, best wishes to you ..and you know we are holding your hand..

     Hugs too,

Well---long story short---I had an aspiration of a tiny cyst done---fluid very near the skin---they ultrasounded the area again where the 3 mm "something" was supposed to be---I had two techs and the DR and the all looked at me like "We are sorry---that new girl saw something that wasn't there"...so they could hardly get anything into the sample jar but sent it off and i guess I'll know B-4 the weekend --but the Dr said---I WOULD not be concerned at all...and the Tech said---he would NOT say that if he didn't mean it....so I said ---but what about "the nipple discharge that started all this?"---and they said ---let you reg Dr figure that out ---there is nothing to worry about here cause your MRI looked great...SO______much ado about nothing??!! Thanks for listening!
