Remind me of the two week rule

magsandmattsmom,
Yes, not EVERY pain is bc related! I have had to remind myself that very same thing!
I have been getting a pain in my neck since August, but it seems to get better, so I guess it is ok.
You are probably just overdoing it with the running and walking, especially with the treadmill on an incline. You'd be surprised how many aches and pains you get from too much exercise!
Hope your pains go away soon!!

How about I come shake, rattle and roll you into "it is not breast cancer!" LOL I know everything is scary. Even now with mets every little ache and pain I'm obsessing, is it moving, is this the beginning of the end. It is enough to make you absolutely insane!!!!
Honestly your pain sounds like sciatica. I may not have spelled it right but look it up on WebMd, I do know you use that one pretty well LOL I have alot of back problems that are not cancer and the sciatica is painful! Look into it and I bet it will ease you rmind its not cancer.

Hey you are right, LuAnn... It is probably Sciatica. I have that sometimes. I never had it til this past March, and I was terrified that I had mets. It turned out to be a herniated disc and I get sciatica when it acts up. It really HURTS, too!!
Sending HUGS to you, Jill!!

I thought the 2 week rule was about dropping food on the floor and eating it
.
-
No Amy when you have pets that is the 5 second rule LOL
-
LuAnn, that must be for cats. With dogs, food doesn't last 5 seconds on the floor!
-
Hold off on the exercise for a few days, it sounds like you strained something. You don't have mets, promise. But you do deserve some relief, so if it is still hurting after a point, call a doc.
-
thanks everyone! you said exactly what I needed to hear!

Hang in there, Jill. FOr things like this, my onc prefers a FOUR week rule! See what happens with some ibuprofen, stretching, or physical therapy. It really sounds mechanical instead of metastatic.
I'm dealing with a similar issue in my hip. Wakes me up some nights, hurts after certain erxercises. Therapy is helping. I blame Aromasin and aging joints. It's been 2 months or more, and I haven't felt a need to tell my onc.
But, the thought HAS crossed my mind on more than one occasion!

I just noticed that you were triple negative and close to five years out. This is pretty significant. I've heard that triple negative bc tends to recur in the first two or three years. You should just start with the assumption that you are cancer-free and any blips that occur are due to something else.
-
Jill - It's so hard, I had full-blown mets symptoms at my 1 year mark (hips, ribs and spine) and the bone scan showed nothing. Currenlty, I'm ignoring hip and right shin pain. My own 2 week rule is that it has to be constant (24/7) and painful enough to make me take advil round the clock, or I dismiss it.
And yes, big congrats on almost 5 years. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I hit the 3 year mark. Of course, I found about about the BRCA+ immediately after the 3 year mark, but hey, I think I kicked the one I already HAD, so that's one less worry right?
-
CMB35 - yes! it needs to be constant and painful enough to take advil A LOT! and it's not that at all!!! I need to remember that
I just don't want anymore tests! I want to live life - not live test to test!
-
Almost 5 years, honey, don't you have a young child that you still carry around. My back Killed until I stopped carrying the boys around. =0)
Take it easy, I am sure it is nothing.

Yes Janis! I forget about that because it's such a natural part of my day. he's getting heavier each day!
-
don't forget the diaper bag, purse, groceries, toys and everything that you need to get from one place to the next......
-
You all rock! My oncologist should thank you all because without you he'd be hearing from me much much much more
-
Hi,
My lower back often hurts when I work out on my treadmill. I also get pains on my cancer side where my bra rubs my skin which I'm told is normal for gals who had radiation. I know how you feel and I just keep reminding myself that this too shall pass. Try to relax and enjoy the day.
Happy Halloween!
Nancy
