How long did it take for your cycles to return?

    I only hope that I can look back and laugh at the funny story surrounding the return of my period...here's hoping Smile

    I was 41 when I was diagnosed with bc.  I had been on birth control pills for years, partly because my body never had a regular cycle on its own, and with the pill it was like clockwork.  Since the cancer was hormone + I stopped the pill immediately, and was surprised that for several months, I got AF regularly, every 30-32 days.  I started chemo in late March, got AF once in early April, and then nothing.  I wasn't sure if it was chemopause or my own unpredictable body.  Then in late September, just two days after starting Tamoxifen -- there she was!  I was actually happy to have cramps! I felt like my body was telling me that I'm not old yet. 

    I turned 42 in October and got my period again last week.  Unfortunately, having another child is not in the cards for me, since I'll 47 when I stop taking Tamoxifen.  I have a wonderful 7-year-old son and I might adopt another child someday.  In any case, the fact that I'm having a regular cycle these days just makes me feel better, like my body is trying really hard to return to normal.

    I was diagnosed at 34 in Nov 07, and don't have children. We were travelling when I was diagnosed and were hoping to start a family on our return. I had my last "proper" cycle in April 08 - my last cycle of chemo. Then finished radiation in June. In August I had a bit of a period but not proper. Nothing until  a few weeks ago, I had a bad cramp which woke me up in the middle of the night. I had a bit more of a period recently - Nov. So I think they're coming back. I'm on tamoxifen and onco switched me to a progesterone only pill (was previously on a mix of oestrogen & progesterone). Because my cancer was ER+. I see him again in two weeks so fingers crossed its good news. So basically I have had 2 "sort of" periods within 7 months of completing chemo or two months after radiation. I've heard that women do have children post BC treatment, so there is hope. I no longer have hot flashes. I find that using Replens (vaginal moisturiser) and Sylk (lubricant) helps with vaginal dryness and pH balance.
