Growing Radiation heat for nearly 2 years later.

Hi Brenda,
I had 25 radiation treatments and I did burn rather badly with open sores under the breast and in my crease of my underarm. I continued to burn for a couple of weeks after treatment finished. I also for whatever reason ended up with a burn on the shoulder blade area of my back.
That was in 2003. Other than the initial burns, the area did not get any hotter. However, the patch that burned on my back it always itchy and the skin is still sun tanned looking and very dry. I have to put lotion on it constantly. Go figure??????? -
Hi Pauline
I dont understand why you were burnt way back there. I guess the radiation was there? I am shocked you did not get hot. That is all the girls talked of when i got my radiation. The heat coming off the breast. I guess it was OK but the Radiation doctor then.
I am still looking for someone who has the same problem as myself and so far no luck. it is really interesting everyone seems respond or to suffer differently. I never knew that before.
Thanks for answering my ad -
Pauline
The reason for the burn on the back is that the radiation goes through and out the other side. I have that now. I'm very red and peeling in the underarm area, very tender, and I also do not feel hot, jut raw. Finished 25 reds a week ago.

I had 36 treatments to the right side. I burned all the way through. I found that those soft white v-necked tee shirts that they make for men worked very well against my irritated and oozing skin. Once the treatments stopped and I healed from the burns everything was fine for about a year. Now I am constantly itching and I have a rash. This has gone on for 3 months. My plastic surgeon says that it is the radiation working its way out of my body from the inner tissues. He advised me to use 1% cortisone cream (just any over the counter brand) This seems to work but I am confused because no one ever talks about this. This whole rash-itching thing is new news to me and I feel like the only person experiencing it. Anyone else out there have this problem? I am just concerned because I was totally well for nearly a year.

Good grief! Is radiation meant to be that strong?, that it goes through to the other side?

Ginnieredd I hope you found some medical assistance for your rash. I am thinking it isn't as a result of radiation?
