Need a great support sports bra

I will be having exchange on Oct 20. When I get back to running I want to protect my new girls and wear the best support sports bra on the market. I need your help in finding one.
October 25 will be our 11th Race for the Cure and I have ran all of them as a survivor. Do you think I will be able to walk the 3.1 miles since my exchange will be the Monday before? I am now a survivor for the 2nd time.
Thanks for all your help

I'm trying to remember what I was able to do within a week of my exchange. It was only about 5 months ago, but I had nerve pain as a complication, so I may not be the best judge. I remember doing 20 minutes on the treadmill 6 days post-op. I was still fatigued from anesthesia, I believe. I'm quite active, but don't know that I would have been able to do a 5k then. See how your doc feels about it--you could still have dressings on...
Title 9 has great sports bras. You can find their catalog on line. I'm finding that I need less support now that I'm finally getting used to the new "girls"--but I haven't tried running braless yet.
I'm a two-timer, two. Best of luck,
Anne

I second Title Nine's recommendation. I love the Barbells to signify the type of build fit for the bra.
-
Thanks Anne and bomber410. I will check them out!!
Best wishes

Linda54 - Your question of ability to walk a week after exchange...I think it depends on how well you tolerate the surgery and whether you have drains. I had exchange on 9/19 and took NO pain meds when sent home. The next day I was shopping the mall and Costco. I was walking 3-5 miles on day 3. I had no drains, no complication, implants. If you do well after surgery - you should be able to walk.
Good luck with your surgery!!
-
sbmolee, I will have 2 drains that will come out Thur after Mon surgery. I did well after my bi-lateral mast/LD flaps surgery so I am confident that I will be able to walk the Race for the Cure.
Hope you are loving your new girls.
Thanks, Linda
-
Thanks Linda - I DO love the new girls. So much softer than the implants and not so prominent!
Hope you do well in your walk!
-
If you're used to walking I think you'll be able to. Be sure to get enough fluids.
I would look for a bra that does not pull over your head. I think that was hard post exchange and I prefered one that fastened in front. With implants you really don't need a huge amount of support. You may be able to get along with a leisure type bra with fasteners. You aren't going to run are you?

I do not like sports bras that are pullover. They are so hard to put on and take off. I like the hooks also. No I am not going to run Race for the Cure this year. I will be walking. Either the 5k or the 1 mile. Depends on how I am feeling.
Thanks

Hi, I just had my exchange this past Thursday, and I'm also looking for a good bra to wear for exercising. (I definitely feel like I'm ready to start walking again!) I'd love a sports bra that fastens in front, but haven't seen one. My PS told me I need to wear a snug-fitting bra 24/7 for 3 weeks to keep the implants from shifting while the tissue grows back in to hold them in place (I have textured silicone, Allergan Natrelle 400cc). Right now I'm wearing a Playtex 18-hour bra and feel like my mother! LOL Is the Title 9 bra front-close?

Title9 has about 20-30 sports bras rated by amount of support. Also try champion.com and look at their spots bras - all on sale right now for 19.99, they have a couple front zip styles. I just bought three that were the same as on the Title9 site.
Congrats on your exchange. My exchange of 9/19 and I also have Allergan Natrelle - 460cc's. I did not have to wear a sports bra afterwards.
Are you going to get nipples and tats? Or 3D? or skip altogether?
Best of luck!
-
sbmolee:
Thanks for the info on www.championusa.com
and that is a great price at $19.99 for all bras. I ordered 2 of the zip front sports bras. I want to be prepared if my PS wants me to wear one.
Yes, I want to finish and look as natural as I can. I do not want Barbie boobs. I think I would be happier with recon nipps and tattooed areolas. Are you happy with your Allergan?
Linda
UPDATE:
WOW I got my 2 new sports bras today the 15th. I like them. They do not fit tight like I thought they would.
-
Linda a week after my exchange my husband and I went for a 4 mile walk. After about 3 miles my arm was a little soar so I tried to just keep it by my side and not swing it. I'm sure you'll do just fine. Before my mastectomy I did get some sport bras that zipped in the front from JC Pennys and Younkers but they weren't cheap
. $19.99 sounds like a really good deal
-
Linda - Yes great price! The exact bra from Title 9 for 40.00 is on sale at champion for 19.99. I also have a couple champion zip front from JCP but not enough support for running. I have nip surgery Dec4 and tattoos after the nips heal. I LOVE my new Allergan boobs! Very natural feeling.
-
Thanks rockwell_girl and sbmolee
sbmolee, glad that you are so happy with your allergan boobs. I hope I will be
I will have those new sports bras in time for my exchange incase my PS wants me to wear one 24/7. Don't know what he will want me to do. I even got free shipping!!!!!!!!
rockwell_girl, so I should not be swinging my arms when I walk the Race for the Cure. This year I will be walking with all the survivors instead of trying to win the Suvivors Division of the run. I will have a lot more fun!!!!!
The best to both of you. This time next week I will be preparing myself for my exchange. woohoo

I also ordered from the Champion website for $19.99! What a great deal and thank you for the info! I hope they fit well and I am happy with them. I even was able to get FREE shipping through new account status...can't beat it! Thanks again for the info! Can't wait to hit the road running!
-
Annie
The free shipping is through the end of this year!!!
I received my sports bras yesterday and tried one this morning during my run. Don't fit as tight as I thought they would. Also I have some trouble with the zipper with I am putting it on. May just take some practice. I ordered the size I needed but now I think I sould have ordered a small.
Let me know how you like yours.
Linda
-
Size was difficult for me....and I hope they fit. According to standard measuring for bras....I am NOT the size I believe will fit....b/c of the implants? Make sense? I believe I am larger cup size than my measurements are telling me...but due to projection being different from a natural breast...the measurements can't be trusted...or that is my thought. We'll see how they do! And wow, I would LOVE to finish in the TOPS of our Race in the survivor category..have not yet had a whole year to get trained...maybe this year?
-
Just got my bras yesterday. Have not tried them on yet. I ordered three different styles and amount of support. Not sure how much support I will need for running (never had boobs large enought to worry before!)
Annie06 - I am not sure of size either. I was measured but sometimes the bra from VS feel a bit too small or don't cover as much as I think the should. Maybe the style?
-
I am sending the zipper front bras back. I was not that pleased with them. Wanted a tighter fit and the zipper was a problem for me. I placed an order for the Powersleek Sports bra. It has the hook in the back and molded cups so maybe it will satisfy me. I ordered one in white and one in black. This bra was sized like a regular bra.
Linda
-
Tried the bras on. Love two of them - sending the third back. It was more shapped and since I do not have nipples and areolas...it puckered. It was also a pain to pull over my head AND hook in the back. The two I kept have great support. Back to the gym in about two weeks when I get cleared by PS.
-
One of mine came today...I will let you know which style/type and how I like it. I chose the ones with the MAX support. One is backordered...I ordered two diff. styles...so we'll see. I will let you girls know! And by the way....thankful that we are healthy enough to be shopping for sports bras!
-
YES - very thankful we are healthy enough to be discussing sports bras.
-
The one I received did not fit....well....almost!!! Like you sbmolee, it puckered and I was disappointed! I am going to have to send it back and order one that is not as shaped and maybe that will be OK. I loved the style of this one particular one, it was the Powerback Wirefree Sports Bra. I have ordered the Powersleek Sports Bra and it is on backorder. Which ones were you happy with sbmolee?
-
My Powersleek Sports bra's arrived yesterday while I was having my exchange surgery. It will be a while before I can try them on the see if I like them. The description of the bra was that it has molded cups and I was surprised because they have soft cups and not the formed cups.
My exchange went well. The unveiling will be Thursday morning. I can't wait. I have been trying to take a peek and my DH said that I looked like a kid at Christmas. HA
Linda
-
Linda - Congrats on your exchange. Hope all is going well with recovery. I too wanted to peek! Did you have to have a surgibra or wraps? All I went home with was tape that I could remove the next am and shower. Hurt like heck to remove the tape.
Good luck with the unveiling!!
-
Hey Linda
Great news on your exchange! I was not bandaged, so....I was able to see the results and was very happy! Hope you are too! Now it is finding that RIGHT bra!?!
I want to ease back into running and until I get the right bra...I can't really...so now Linda, I am wondering if the Powersleek bra will not fit me either. Might have to go with something not formed. PS said the best thing is a wide band along the bottom of the bra to protect the 'capsule' that has been formed for the implant....will keep you girls posted and you do likewise!
-
smbolee and annie,
I am doing good. I am wrapped. Tried to get my friends to unwrap me yesterday to take a look but they were afraid to. Guess I will have to wait til in the morning. I looked more closely at the Powersleek bra and it has a wide band around the bottom and the inner layer of fabric is not stretcy fabric so I think it would keep your breast in place. I will take one to my PS in the morning and get his approval or not. Will let you know.
Hope I love my girls

Interesting website I found that shows a women running in each bra so you can see the bounce from the front and side view. Lots of brands demonstrated.
http://www.herroom.com/sports-bra-videos,301,30.html
I will try to find the other site that show the internal support structure of each bra.
-
Thanks sbmolee!!!! That is great video showing the bouncing. I checked a few of them and it seemed like they all allow some bounce but the Coolmax Lunaire looked the best of the ones I looked at.
