Lifetime movie

DH & I watched together. He even wondered why I didn't watch the movie preceding,"Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy". (I was at the  grocery spending $100 for very little...). He was so worried it would be hard on me, even when I'm not Her-2. It's the sisterhood, bubba!

I lost it when Dr. Slamon was crying in the shower......

I have been aware of the Fire & Ice Ball, and Lilly's part in it, but I hadn't realized the background. She should get a big thank you, too!!!

Loved the movie!!! I thank god for Dr. Slamon and now every time I sit in that chair (once every 3 weeks ... until Jan 2) I will think about him and thank him for his perseverance.  WOW

 I only saw the last little bit of that other movie... 

Although there were some essential "lifetime moments" of slight cheesiness, I loved the movie over all.  I loved learning about revlon and Lily, and how herceptin got its name. Although it was hard to picture Harry Conick Jr as Dr. S (b/c Dr. S isn't so much of a looker) he did a great job.  I loved the role his wife played throughout all the yrs of his research.  She sacrificed so much for us too.

The movie ended in the yr 1996, and just think... it took until 2004 for the FDA to approve Herceptin for early stage BC.  The trials started in 2003 for early stage BC patients. When I was diagnosed I just missed the cut off to the trial. When Herceptin was finally approved, for me it was after chemo, after my mastectomies- about two 1/2 months... I almost thought for a minute about not taking it.  And then someone told me what a miracle it was.

When I went back to the treatment room for my first dose, the onc nurse said to me,

'This is the best security blanket you will ever have for the rest of your life.'

That was four years ago, and she was right.

I loved the movie.  I cried when I realized how doomed I would have been without Herceptin.  I'm so lucky to be able to see the movie.  I live in Canada and don't get Lifetime but a friend of mine who has satellite taped it for me and I watched it yesterday.  It was so moving.

Thank you Dr. Slamon for my life.

I absolutely loved the movie!  I must have used a box kleenex.  I am not HER2+ but am so happy for all of you who can benefit from this magnificant drug. The part that moved me so was when Dr. Salmon ran for all the women who lost or are fighting this battle.

Hopefully there will be a drug soon for us Triple Negs.

I was so full as I watched this movie. It's hard to describe. I cried and cried. I was so overwhelmed by my feelings, to think that this man had such an impact on so many lives including my own!!  It connects us all in a way that is inexplicable.

I cried as well.  Just thinking how painful it must have been for him to turn people away.  Makes you angry but you get it... its the stupid rules that the government places on all this stuff that makes it so difficult to get anything done.

You wonder how many other treatments are out there they companies are just pushing away....

It was a terrific movie... amazing

I watched the movie online and was very moved.   I honor Dr. Slamon.  How many of our lives has he saved?   And I think I will start only buying Revlon products.    I too cried!
