Lifetime movie
I saw the commercial for the upcoming movie on Lifetime about the discovery of herceptin. I got chills watching the trailer and cannot wait to see it! It will air on Oct. 18th.Harry Connick Jr. is acting as Dr. Slamon. I saw Bernadette Peters, Amanda Bynes, Regina King and several actors in the commercial. It should be good!

Lexi I'm so excited... I wrote Dr Slamon an email a while back, and will never know if he got it-- but I saw the trailor for the film and it looks great.
-
I saw it too, so HOPEFUL!! thanks for the FYI on Oct. 18, I need to set my DVR
-
Hey Diana,
That's a really good idea! I will have my dd set the DVR for me! hee hee...

I hope they will show it here in Canada - I will call my cable provider on Monday to ask about this.
-
I can't wait. I'm going to TiVo it. I felt the same way Lexi felt when I saw the preview. I told my husband "That's about Herceptin!!"
-
I was wondering the same thing Caya about whether it will be shown in Canada. I hope so.
-
Hi there,
I was also wondering if the movie will be shown in Canada. Has anyone seen or heard?
-
Hi girls. I live in Chicago so I am not sure if it will be on in Canada, but I just found a book called Her-2: The Making of Herceptin, a Revolutionary Treatment for Breast Cancer that was acutally published back in 1998 but tells the story of Herceptin and Dr. Salmon, in case you can't see the movie. I am going to the bookstore to get it now. Hope that helps.
-
Hey. I'm a regular in the taxotere/carboplatin/Herceptin gang. "Camp Chemo" as we call ourselves. I am totally stoked about this movie. In fact, I found out about an address to respond to about being part of a viewing party. I'll share it as soon as I know it's legit. And ifasano...I really want that book too.
-
To all you Canadian ladies, I have checked on the internet and emailed Lifetime and the movie WILL NOT be shown in Canada. We have to wait for it to come out on DVD. I was mentioning this to friends of ours last night and they get over 200 U.S. Cannels (satellite TV?) and have offered to tape it for me so start asking all your friends if they get Lifetime! I can't wait to see this movie.
-
Hi Ladies,
Just a reminder that the Lifetime movie about Dr. Slamon and the making of Herceptin is on this Saturday - Oct 18th.

I am looking forward to learning more about the story behind the miracle drug for us HER2+ girls.

I got the viewing party bag from lifetime today-- so great.. it's a big white and gold tote bag with popcorn, candy, a shirt, a pink passport holder and tons of info for screening about the movie.
I can't wait to watch it Saturday night. Hope you'll all be watching too!
-
Beth,
I received the same bag! Filled with great stuff! I took some of the brochures to some of the offices I have dealings with. Some of the ladies knew the movie was going to be on, but after the other gals saw Harry Connick Jr., they became really interested in watching the movie!
I am so looking forward to seeing it and I know many will benefit from seeing it too!

I got the bag too! I took the viewing guides to onc's office. I believe there was a dvd of the movie with all the goodies. And a CD of a song apparently Harry Conick Jr wrote for the movie.
Michelle, I responded to the moderators message at the top of the board about Lifetime. I
I truly believe herceptin has kept my mets at a minimum and I credit herceptin for my life. I have been on it for almost five years! Yea, herceptin and Dr Slamon!!!!!!
-
My mom is NED, she was dx again with BC to liver and Bones Sept 07 as of Aug 08, from weekly herceptin and chemo she is NED. Her scans are clean, she will come off chemo soon and remain on herceptin alone.
-
How come it says the moderators deleted the post....I am not sure what you posted there but they deleted it so I can't see what it says...can you let me know what was posted there?
Thank you Michelle xx

Twizzlers are all gone.
Popcorn very salty...just an FYI
If you flip to the back of the book-- the girl Courtney- thats Relsa77- she doesn't post here too often anymore- but I'm friends with her. Happy she was featured.
Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of the movie.
-

It "was" a great movie, and it will be on Lifetime channel AGAIN tomorrow

on the Lifetime.com that is VERY interesting, please check it out: www.mindswell.org/beatcancer

I didn't take herceptin, as I was Her2-. However, I lost a VERY dear friend in 1992 who might still be here today if we'd had herceptin back then.
God bless Dr. Slamon and his family. It was a wonderful movie, and my DH and I both cried during it.
-
cried, cried cried. My big 6'6" 220 lb husband bawled like a baby, cried even harder. Thanks given out to Dr. Slamon and his staff. I sent him an email telling him so!!
-
It was moving. Very sad how he had to let a lot of those women go, to die back then. I was just moved through the whole movie , that a MOVIE was made like this.. about our cancer... and the miracle..
I pray this opens the doors for SO MANY more saving drugs for all cancers..
