Hi Everybody

Don't know if you remember me but I was diagnosed on 5/15 with invasive lump in right breast.  Was scheduled for lumpectomy but surgery was cancelled because a second suspicious site was found in same breast by MRI.  Had MRI biopsy and found 2nd site was not a problem so lumpectomy was rescheduled.  Had it and no clear margins.  Decided to have bi lateral mastectomies with reconstruction at same time as surgery.  Thought it out and even though left breast was clear, think my decision was right for me.  First plastic surgeon did not go along with my decision and thought because of my age, 74, it would not be a good option.  I put this on the board and you all told me that age should not be a factor and to seek another plastic surgeon.  Thank you for your support because I did just that.  Found a wonderful Plastic surgeon who agreed with me and worked with my BC to go ahead with my wishes.

Jump to 9/30----Surgery performed, small silicone implants put in and I am thrilled.  I feel like I am 15 again and just blossoming.  Did not want larger boobs, just wanted something there when I woke up.  I was in hospital (Dana-Farber/Brigham & Women-Boston, MA) for 2 days.  Sent home with drains which were removed 6 days later.  7th day felt fine and walking the beach.  It is now 13 days and a brisk day in Revere, MA.Walked the beach, came in and had a nice lunch and am now getting ready to drive to a friend's home for a Columbus Day Dinner.  Am of Italian descent so it will be wonderful.

Just want to end this long note on a positive note.

Glad I took the initiative and went with my gut, along with all the help from this board, and did it MY WAY.

Wonderful-No bra and just waiting for the final bandages, under the breasts, to be removed on 10/22.

Life is good and I am doing wonderful.

Wow, congrats and ^5. Nice to see your doing so well and have an awesome attitude. I too am from the North Shore but had my treatments at Mass General. I also had a false MRI scare, to the point I was in the MRI scanner again ready to get a biopsy on the suspicious area,, But at that point the  mass they saw wasnt appearing and they let me out, THAT was a relief..But it was still very nerve racking and almost put me thru an unnecessary painful biopsy.

    Your story inspires me...
