as long as it's not the upcoming weekend, it's all ok for me.
-
How about the 26th??
-
Melia-Congratulations grandma and making your decision. I made that decision right after my dx and I am so glad I did. One less thing to worry about. We will miss you again this month but you will be with us in our hearts.
Either date works for me. Where are we going this time? Can anyone think of some place new and exciting but easy on the wallet?
-
guitar Girl...how about something close to you this time...you know the good spots I hope...
I can't do it the 25th, but I can the 26th...
-
BJs is near me, but I've never been there. I like the Rock Bottom Brewery, or if you wanted to splurge, there is Jai (pronounced "jay") - Wolfgang Puck's new place on campus (parking is free on weekends)

YAY,Grandma! I am so thrilled for you! Babies are a durn good reason to take the best care of yourself - and their mammas need their mom, too. I know you have made a well-considered decision and I know that you'll feel so relieved to get the tension of waiting for tests out of your life. We will miss your presence again in October, but I'll bet you bounce back from this right quick - no chemo to deal with, huh?
Susan - Jai sounds deeelicious! But, I must unfortunately ask: how pricey is it? If it is at all accessible, I'd love to try it!
Adams Ave. (my 'hood) is very busy for brunch on weekends - at least all the good spots are. Even with the economy in the dumpster, folks still want their weekend treats. But then, these are all wallet-friendly eateries.

I only went once, but I think Jai is in the $25 range - give or take $5? I think. It'll also depend on what you drink ...
-
I have to vote for BJs just because there is something there for everyone and they have
been very accomodating with our group...I am thinking the brew place will probably be
very full of football fans on a Sunday afternoon...
-
I always liked BJ's. That is fine with me. $25 for lunch is pretty steep.
-
Brenda, when you have a chance, do you mind calling Jodi and see how she's doing? I checked her Myspace page, and someone had posted a message to her saying "glad you're home now", which sounded like she'd been in the hospital. She hasn't been on the boards here since August, and it sounded at the time like she was having progession. Anyhow, I am concerned about her.
-
I just left Jodi a message. Hopefully we will hear from her soon.
-
So are we on for the 26th at B.J.'s?
-
I'll be there...at 1pm?
-
Oh Melia, I think you are doing the right thing. I wouldn't want such a protracted wait, either, how stupid and insensitive.
At Sharp, they have me wait, and the radiologist comes in ON THE SPOT and tells me (so far), I am fine. What a difference. I am constantly amazed, doesn't anyone in the medical profession ever talk to anyone else? You know, for good ideas? Idiots.
We will miss you, a lot. You are such a wonderful person to talk to, I truly, truly miss you.
BJ's is good for me, on the 26th, just what time?
Hugs, Shirlann
-
Shirl...want me to pick you up again?? My turn
-
1:00 works for me. Sylvia who is driving this time?
-
The 26th at BJ's, 1pm. Gotcha!
Lisa
-
Is anyone around here ready for winter? I just want a nice cloudy, rainy day for fun.
-
Hi Ladies,
Melia - I so know what you mean. I went for a mammogram on my "good" boob in July and the radiologist said they'd like to see me again in 6 months as they see something, but it could just be the difference in the images since they are now digital. So I ask myself - do I really want to go through this every time I have a mammogram or should I have a prophylactic mastectomy when I have reconstruction???
I'm afraid I'll have to miss this months luncheon as I'll be up at UCSB visiting my son for Parents Weekend! I hope to see you all next month.

Bite your tongue, Brenda!
Come Hallowe'en week, we're likely to have plenty of rain. It seems to historically come that week - and go on and on... I'm such a wuss, as soon as we go back on Standard Time I'm in a funk. At least I got half a cord of firewood delivered already to make my drafty old house toasty-warm.
Sorry we'll be missing you, Lisa#3 - I'm sure you'll have a fun time being the proud momma!
Lisa
-
Hi guys--sorry to bag out on you but looks like the 26th is out for me-- having a B-day dinner for my husband Steve on Sunday instead of Sat cause my son-in law works--
Also--have a MRI scheduled for 10/21 and checking dates for a biopsy on"good" breast where mammo/ultra have found fluid around the nipple and two somethings----will be seriously discussing my options as this is 4th time since 2/26...
Take Care,
Sylvia
-
Sylvia-Sending you some big hugs. Sorry you are having to go through more tests. Are you still having pain too. I am going to miss riding together on the 26th. I love chatting with you.
LisaSDCA-Sorry girl but I have had it with this hot weather. My poor trees look like they are going to fall over any second. They want rain as much as I do.
Lisa #3-You can't come either. Bummer. I am sure you would rather be hugging that boy of yours anyway. Have fun.
Nash-Are you joining us on the 26th. I have never heard back from Jodi by the way. I hope she is okay.
-
Hi, Brenda--I won't be making it to lunch. We've got a busy day on Saturday, and I'm just going to stay home and take it easy on Sunday.
Shoot--I was hoping Jodi would call you back. I'm really concerned about her.
-
Nash-Aw I was looking forward to seeing you again.
So do we have 5? Susan are you coming?
-
yes. I am coming. I'm in town & it's closer to my condo than where I ate lunch today (by about 3 stores), so how could I say no???
You guys scare me. I have my first post-treatment mammo mid November and am freaking out about it.
-
Hi
I am in Encinitas also! We could meet if you would like! Patti
-
Patti..why don't you join us on Sunday...
-
Hi Patti -
I'm the one who wrote you a PM about our group. The next gathering is in La Jolla (UTC area) on Sunday. We're meeting at BJ's Restaurant at 1pm.
Melia wrote the original post back in Jan. '07 and we've been meeting monthly ever since. This thread has dozens and dozens of pages. You can go back and get to 'know' us through these posts - if you have a spare evening!
Hope to see you on Sunday - or if not, maybe at our next gathering. . .
Lisa
-
Hi Patti-We have a great time just chatting up a storm. We would love for you to join us. Go back a few pages and you will see what we look like.
-
I just invited someone else from Encinitas who also might join us on Sunday. Do we need reservations? I can make them if someone gives me a number.
