About a year ago my mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer! My mom tried her hardest to fight it and even had her bladder removed and a full hysterectomy. The doctors said she would be fine, that the cancer did not even go through the wall of her bladder! We were so happy, yet with in a month she was so sick! We took her back to the doctors and the cancer had spread! It jumped... well thats what the doctors said! We lost my mom in December of 07 at the age of 49! I am so heartbroken! So with it almost being a year since her diagnosis I find a small lump on my breast 2-3 weeks ago! With in days my breast was so red and swollen! I went straight to the ER! They gave me a antibiotic, said it was a infection and sent me on my way! But a week later it got worse, not better! So I called my doctor and they got my in immediatly! They told me they thought it was Imflammatory Breast Cancer and I had to go up to Roswell! They also put me on another antibiotic with my request, in hopes that its still just mastistic(infection)...better than the doctors telling me I have Cancer! I had a mammogram and ultrasound that they say is just irregular! So then came the Ctscan! The results...thickening skin and swollen lympnodes under my armpits! I went to Roswell for a consultation and they examined me! The doctors did to biopsy, which I will have the results for next week!!! Now Im going to have a anxiety attack! The only good news I heard is that it doesnt have all the same physical charactaristics of Imflammatory Breast Cancer! Iam so scared yet I want to be prepared! Maybe Iam just being crazy because of the loss of my mommy, But Iam so scared! Any advise out there............

Of course you're scared.  Who wouldn't be given your experience with your mom and these symptoms?  It's terribly difficult to wait for results. IBC presents differently for many woman.  Just breathe deeply, try to distract yourself with TV, a movie, etc.  Talk to your friends and gather your support systems.  Get plenty of hugs and allow yourself to cry.  Please let us know what happens, I took tranquilizers while waiting but let's hope for the best.

    Sending hugs from Pennsylvania

Swollen lympnodes, skin thickening and a red and swollen breast are enough signs to be real concerned.   You said Roswell, if you are from New Mexico, then the University of New Mexico has a new state of art  Inflammatory Breast Clinic.  One of only three in the country.  The one in NM was set up with MD Anderson and will have the best dianostic and treatment around.  What type of bx did you have.

My wife had swollen axillary lympnodes, skin thickening and a swollen breast...Her biopsy was mis read and she was delayed another four months till she went to an Inflammatory Breast Clinic.  So stay on top of it.  The news may be good, but question all.

Also just curious, bladder cancer is associated with smoking, did you Mother smoke.  The reason I ask, is My wife's father had bladder cancer and was a heavy smoker.

Question if anyone out there can help...

Can symptons of IBC come and go? Well not totally, but The redness seems as if it goes down a bit then gets red again! Same with the swelling! As I am waiting for the news on my biopsy I requested another antibiotic with hope that it still could just be a infection and for a second I think maybe its working and then It goes right back to how it looked! I am hoping and praying and holding on to any hope but I also want to know if this is normal and could still be IBC. I just want to prepare myself so that I dont just brake down from shock!
