funny books for mom.. David Sedaris?
I need some humorous books for my mom. I would be very grateful for any suggestions. Any favorites? What about David Sedaris? Thanks!

I liked the early Sedaris, like "Me Talk Pretty One Day" better than his new ones. And anything by Bill Bryson.
These are really good on tape, too, as the authors do the reading.

I like Sedaris. I also love Lauri Natario (sp?) She wrote The Idiot Girls Action Adventure Club. She makes me laugh out lout. Also the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evonavitch.

LOVE him! Especially stories about his brother 'the rooster'. I've seen him live, and he is hysterical! If your mom is a southern belle, an oldie but a goodie is Lewis Grizzard, (a good ol' boy from the south). He passed away several years ago, but he has numerous books published.

Thanks so much! I ordered 3 books from everyone suggestions here.
Which books specifically from the Stephanie Plum Series? I'd like to order some of those too, but there were a lot to choose from. You girls are the best! Thanks again!
Also can you suggest the ones you liked by Bill Bryson and Lewis Grizzard?

Bryson's "A WALK IN THE WOODS" about the Appalachian Trail had me in stitches. As did his "IN A SUNBURNED COUNTRY" about travels in Australia.
I read Lew Grizzard many years ago when he was a columnist in N.C. but I don't know about any of his books, specifcally.

Now ......I just ordered them!!!

The Stephanie Pluum series runs in number order....One For The Money is the first one. If you use a library at all they will have them all.....they are very popular.

I listened to A Walk In the Woods while driving to Alaska. I was pulling a trailer and actually had to pull off the road because I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to drive off the road and kill myself. Instead I sat there laughing like a loon on the shoulder of the road. It was that part where he thought he had a snickers bar in the tent and there was a bear outside........what a great book!

Dave Barry makes me laugh til I cry and has the same effect on sister (33) and Mom (65). You can't lose, they are all great.

Thanks again everyone. So far we received from amazon A Walk in the Woods and In a Sunburned Country. I can't wait to get the other books. Now I know where to start with the Stephanie Plum Series. YAY!!! Thanks again!
