Hi ,

My mother has been diagnosed with BC of the following nature.

- Node Negative ( 0/18 Lymph Nodes)

- Histological Grade III Tumor - Tumor Size 1.7

- ER/PR -ve

- HER2 Positive - 3+

- Overall Stage is Stage I

We are in the initial stages of consulting an oncologist for further treatment options.

I would like to know other community members who have had a similar diagnosis, whether the oncologist recommended Chemo+Herceptin treatment for them.

My tumor was a little larger (2.2 cm) but I was also node negative and ER/PR- and Her2+. I did six treatments of Taxol/Carboplatin/Herceptin (finished July 22), and now am going for treatments of Herceptin every 3 weeks.

Best wishes to your mom as she finds out her options and makes decisions regarding treatment. There are several good threads for women with Her2+ that discuss various treatments.

Hi, My tumor was also a little larger, 2cm.  No nodes, er,pr- and her2+++. Diagnosed in '06. I had four treatments of adriamycin and cytoxin, follwed by four treatments of taxotere. 33 radiation treatments and finished with 1 year of herceptin. I finished all treatment in December of 07. Currently I am disease free (PRAISE GOD) and I am eternally grateful for Herceptin!

Best of luck to your mom, she should do well.

    Hugs

    Susan

Thanks a lot for your prompt responses. It is really encouraging to know the results and gives a  lot of confidence in the herceptin drug.

One other question I have is that we have also been asked by the oncologist to get a Genetic Test done called GeneAssay...

If anyone has had that test done, what was the prognosis of it..? Can you please share the results of those?

I will stay in touch with you folks over the duration of my mom's treatment..!

Best wishes and Continued good health to all of you.

    Best Regards,

    Abhijit

    Mitu-

early stage which is good news as far breast cancer is concerned Smile. My understanding for those who are node negative & her2+++ is if the tumor is 5-6mm or larger then chemo and herceptin are recommended by most oncologists and by most major cancer centers.  Otherwise if the tumor is her2 negative and estrogen+ then chemo is recommended for those whose tumor is 1cm or larger and tomoxifen for 5 years afterwards. Another good sopport site that is an excellent source of information for those who are her2+++ is www.her2support.org. Wishing you the very best with your treatments.

I had a pretty similar diagnosis:

    Node neg

    Stage 1 (1.1 cm)

    Grade 3

    ER+

    Her2+

I did AC and Taxol dose dense, 1 year of herceptin, radiation and now am on hormone therapy.  I argued against the chemo, but my onc insisted on it due to the poor grade, Her2+ and the results of my Oncotype (high).  Has she done the Oncotype?

    Best wishes to your  mom.
