Does your bras ever give you rib pain?
I had bilateral masts almost 4 years ago. It took me a year after the surgery to get prothesis. Then this past year I got refitted and I had gained 30 pounds, so I needed the next size prothesis. Since I have these new ones, I get terrible rib pain under my scar of what had been the cancer side. Once I take the bras off, it only hurts when I push on my ribs down below the scar, but close to the end of my ribs.
Does anyone else have anything like this??
Thanks-Heidi

Yes, I get this. I rarely wear prostheses because they're so uncomfortable but if I press on the cancer side (which was also irradiated), it's still very sore almost three years out.

Count me in...after 2-3 hours of wearing a bra, my ribs ache. I'm 3 years out. It's frustrating to say the least, but I hate the flat look, so I grin and bear it. I can't help but wonder if it's rib mets, but my Onc doesn't seem to think so.

A resounding yes! from Vision - I am struggling with discomrfort and pain from wearing Bra/Breast Prostethis. Can't wait to take off after work!
-
Also, the end or bottom of ribs are sore and I too worry about mets - my surgeon said it would take at least a year to subside - but from LauraGTO and Nagem's reply - maybe not.

I can't stand to wear a bra any more. I am finally getting the courage to go without anything, in public. I spent 4 days in Reno without my prosthesis and I didn't have any pain at all. When I wear a bra my ribs ache and the bra rides up on my scars. At 49 I want comfort!

My Onc reluctantly told me the pain may never subside. Disappointing to say the very least. I had SEVERE post Mastectomy and post Ax Dissection pain. It lasted for 8 months...I was miserable the whole time...taking Vicadin and Gabapentin only gave me minimal relief. Finally, when I confessed to my Onc that I was at a point where I simply could not go on any longer (it really was THAT bad). He sent me to a Pain Management Specialist. He injected me with 3 pain blockers (not cortisone). It worked. So just last week when I told my Onc about the bra-wearing rib pain and aches he suggested I go back to the Specialist. I am considering it...although it pales in comparison to the post surgical pain I described above. But...it's great to know that if I get to a point where I no longer want to deal with it...there is a solution. (Of course simply burning your bras IS an non-invasive option - for those who are comfortable without one.)
So girls...just thought I'd share this with you...best wishes!
