    Hey Felecia

I have been growing my locs for 6 years.the picture shown is where I had just had them cut above my shoulders on 9/20. But since then my hair has been cut very short no more locs. But I do plan on getting them back. I like sister locs because they are very versatile in styling and can be as small as micro braids. Also no gel is used on ends to seal. Take care.

I am finished with A/C and going to my 2nd of 4 Taxol tomorrow.  I have begun to notice some stubble growing back on my scalp so I guess my hair is growing back now despite the Taxol. My eyebrows are now getting thin though.Never realized how much difference that would make in my appearance!  Hoping to have enough hair to go wigless/ scarfless by spring.

I will not have to have chemo but my hair has been a mess since my surgery on September 23rd.  Last night I broke down and put a perm in it.  It has been extremely dry and breaking since the surgery.  I am convenienced that the meds break it off.

Felicia:  I know you suggested braids, but I can't find anyone to come over and braid it for me.  I have never worn braid, but I'm willing to try them.

It is amazing that I am walking around with drains and tubes and concerned about how my hair looks to my boyfriend.  I think my issue is that I want to look sexy and attractive so he won't forget what I can look like while I undergo this transformation.

I never realized that I was one of those women with hair issues, but being sick has proven that I have issues with hair.

    Pinky,

Try wrapping your hair at night with a silk (or satin) scarf. It will help curb the breakage. If you can't do the scarf thing (I have a neice who cannot sleep with anything on her head at all), try a satin pillow case as it does the same thing. Also, keep it moist with leave-in conditioners and the like, which will also help curb the breakage...

     Hope this helps...

I am trying the scarf.  It is hard, but I hope it will work.

I am going to the hair cuttery tomorrow to get something done to it.  My friend ask me tonight how much it would cost to get my nails, my feet and my hair done.  He ask me if that would make me feel better and than said he would take me in the morning.

In spite of his drinking and telling me to stop feeling sorry for myself, he is trying to be support and is basically a good man.  I am looking forward to tomorrow for the first time in weeks.  Maybe I will feel better or more like myself once my hair is done.  I may get it cut really short so all I have to done is moisturize it.  I don't know, I just am glad he suggested it because I didn't want to ask him.  I am so broke since I have been sick that I hate to ask for things that are not necessary.  This trip to the salon may really help my spites if nothing else.

Enjoy yourself at the salon, Pinky. There's something about having a pedicure that makes me feel like a pampered princess Kiss...

Your guy sounds like a basically good man. He's got his "stuff" but what guy doesn't lol?!? Blame it on the "y" chromosome...

You are right.  He paid the lady at the hair salon, gave me money to go next door to the nail place where I got my feet, nail and a waxing for eyebrows and lip.  It is amazing how much hair you can grow in a couple of months.  Now if he would just go get my damn juice I would be happy.

I just finished chemo and I start rad next week.  How long did it take before your hair grew back.  I would be happy with a little peach fuzz, but nothing!  I live in chicago and the weather is getting cold, but the wigs are no help.  The wind blows right thru them.  Headwraps seem to be better.

I copied and pasted this article about 'Gel Headbands' which are to be worn underneath our wigs.  Gel Headbands are recommended for chemo patients and are great for such issues as itching, tenderness of the scalp, etc.  Just go online and look up 'Gel Headband' and lot of info and resources will come up. Hi Roya,

This is interesting!!!  Thanks for sharing!!

Twice I have had to wear a wig because of the Chemo and I spoke to the ladiies about the lil bumps that was on my head ,and those bumps hurt til all my hair was gone, then they left.

It is nice to know these things are out there.

Hi ladies, i have also noticed my  hair has been extremely dry a few weeks before the start of my rads, i relaxed my hair  and  i also wear weaves never had a problem with my hair, since rads my own hair has been dry the part that is not in the weave, the back and edges  has completly came out, every time i  mostrized it at night put my silk hair wrap on and by the time I wake up its like I never even mostrized it, it will be dry as chip, i'm so frustrated, i thought only chemo took your hair out? i'm so afraid that when i take  my weave out which will be next week what will the rest of my hair look like.  i have one day of rads left after 7 weeks, is it from the rads? or the pain meds i was  taking or  a combination any suggestions or input ladies?

I didn't have chemo either and my hair has broken and become extremely dry after bi-lateral.  I think it is the reaction to the meds.  I have started giving myself hot-oil treatments and using luster moisturizer on it.  My daughter took me to the hair dresser and the next day it was as dry as the day before I got it done.

I can say that it did the same thing in 2004 when I had radiation, so my conclusion is that all meds cause my hair to dry out.

Before my surgery I use to get perms.  Now I am afraid that it will come out if I use chemicals.  I have been getting it wrapped and flat ironed but the dryness is a problem.

If anyone has a cure, I am willing to try it.l
