Cheap mastectomy bras?
I am looking for a site or store with cheaper bras. Since I am pregnant, I am changing sizes like crazy and really don't want to spend tons of $ on bras I will never use again.
thanks,
Ellen

The TLC website has mastectomy bras that are pretty inexpensive - usually in the $25-$30 range. Playtex makes a mastectomy bra that's only about $20 - try an on-line search. Metromedical online has Amoena closeouts for a good price, too.
One thing you might try is to find a regular bra that could work with a prosthesis. I just bought a Hanes bra at Target for $9 that fits really well, and my form fits in it perfectly. If you don't mind doing a little bit of sewing, you can buy 4 pockets from TLC for about $13 and sew them into the bra, or just try putting your form in the bra cup and see if it stays put.
Sometimes you can find a good deal on a Classique bra online - do a search on Classique and see if anything comes up.
I don't think there's any such thing as an inexpensive mastectomy bra!

I don't know if this would work or not.
I was browsing through the bra section yesterday in Penney's to see if I could find a bra that had a lining that was open so I could slip prostheses into it.
I ended up in the nursing bra section and found two models that had a partition which is intended to hold the breast in place when the bra is opened for nursing. All the nursing bras had that interior construction but in the two styles I found, the partition gave more coverage to the top and bottom of the breast. They definitely looked like they would hold a prosthesis in place.
I was going to go in and try one on with my prostheses, but my husband came up at that point and we needed to leave.

hi ellen. The american cancer society sent me 6 bras and a breast form for free. Two of the bras were new. The others were used, but were cleaned. I am living on a very limited income, and could never afford masectomy bras. Anyhow, if you don't mind slighty used, you can call them at 1-800-221-2141, and tell them your predicament.

After spending money on expensive mast. camesoles, wearing hosp mast bra' (adjustable) because I have had mast. then expanders in , one out, back in - so I have been all sized never matching - trying to figure out what to wear - I out grew my old sports bra's from walmart but found a great buy at target - Hanes sports (light dury) 2 for $8.00, so if or when I need a bigger size it will not be a problem - I really like them it is great for me to sleep in and do chores (bending over etc) as I am larger one side and the saline seems to be so heavy - they had some other brand name sports bra's too. Good luck

How about ebay? I just got 3 'new with tags' Amoena bras for $30 including shipping. Two were styles I already wear and another for me to try in T-shirt style. I've bought several times on ebay.

Check with your local American Cancer Socitey. They have plenty of bras that have been donated. You can always donate them back when your done
