Hi Ladies,
Thanks for thinking of me - we've been traveling hither and yon trying to get a daughter married off (in Portland - last month) and this month it's our anniversary. And for a CHANGE we thought we'd go up-coast to Huntington Beach this year (SD has always been our first choice). There's a nice Hyatt up there and we thought we'd check it out. So, we've been a little busy and ..... now we're broke! Just in time for Christmas!!! (planned well, don't you think?)
Anyhow, I'll be paying more attention from now on, and hopefully I'll be able to steal away to come down there for a lunch in the next month or so.
Have a good time!
-
Hi Kaye..good to see you..glad you seem to be having a good time
Happy Anniversary
Hope you can join us again one of these times..
-
Okay, Liz, but I can drive over and you can just park there. It's my turn, truly.
Hugs, Shirl

You all are such caring friends.
It is wonderful to have our group of women who "get it" to meet with every month. We seemed to really have a lot to laugh about today.
Thanks, SoCal for your photographic skills and for how quickly you get to it.

Hello SD Sista's!
Been awhile since I've posted. Have been really busy here in Michigan. Fall is arriving, but we still have warm days. Colors are beginning to show.
We are thinking of coming to SD for Christmas this year and staying awhile. At least a month; maybe more. Hoping I can finally get together with all of you.
I've been doing a lot of work with Komen. Now on public policy, continuing ed for healthcare, and helping with Pink Saturdays, etc. We will be providing 1,400 free mammograms on Saturdays in October this year throughout SW Michigan. Double last year. I'm chairing a committee for ed event for healthcare providers on management of BC survivors when they return to GP. Scary, but there just aren't enough onc's out there as we survive longer and longer. Guess it is good news!
Have had 3 recent deaths - 2 in husband's family and 1 of my BC friends. I spent time with her during her last few weeks. What a privilege. I guess we learn a lot about comfort care with massage and imagery with all of this. We get the tools and God provides us with a way to use them. Guess it goes with the territory.
Hope to see some of you in Dec or Jan. Love to all, Linda
-
Oh my Linda, let us know as soon as you know the days you will have free, and to see you would be wonderful.
Looking forward to this! Hugs, Shirlann
-
Hi,
Wonderful lunch get-together and I just wanted to let you know Shirlann---my daughter Gretchen thinks you are a HOOT!!!
So good to see you all...I sometimes think --oh--I really need to "clean" instead of showering, getting dressed, makeup and making the time to do lunch --with being out of the house all week....and then I'm always glad I did make the time---that other STUFF is always there!!
Sylvia
-
Well, we are sure glad you take the time Sylvia..always great to see you..
Linda, it would be fun to see you

Hi Sylvia, tell Gretchen thank you, that was sweet! She is gorgeous, I thought, what is this lovely young thing doing with us? But she adds such a spark of youth, it is wonderful.
Hugs, Shirlann
-
hi,
I'll tell Gretchen what you said---and I wish with ALL of my heart that she wasn't ONE of us...but it was in the cards as they say..eh? Is that your black itty on your avatar pic--I have a big grey hair/blue-eyed boy named "Sinatra"...he is my baby!!

Hello girls--Thanks to those who have donated to my oldest daughter's walk with the cancer society here in San Diego--she is almost to goal...WOHOO!!
Sylvia

OOOh Sylvia, I love the name! Brilliant!
Yes, that is Cleo, she is a rescue, they told me no one will take the black kittens, so she came home with me. That is so silly.
Anyway, she is an indoor cat and has us laughing constantly. She and Dusty are good friends, she thinks she is a dog, comes when she is called and carries things in her mouth! She sleeps just above my head on a tall cushion and 3 times, I was awake in the morning, but had my eyes closed, and gentle as a butterfly, she reached down with her paw and tried to open one of my eyes. It was so sweet. I did not know what was going on the first time, but when I realized it, well, she is our treasure.
She flirts with Dusty (our Whippet) all the time. She walks under his chin, rubs her chin against his, then lets her tail run along his whole face, back and forth, it is so cute.
Ahhh, what would we do without our fur babies. Hugs, Shirlann

OK folks..it is October already...has anyone had any contact with Melia??
-
Melia, Melia. Come out, come out wherever you are.
-
Hello Friends,
I do miss you all but am so delighted that the group is going strong. I always love the photos!
Don't work around me in October; I have decided to have a prophylactic mastectomy on the healthy breast, so will be laid up most of the month. This is a decision I have been grappling with for over a year, and two factors made me decide to have it done. First, it took 23 days to get the clear results from my last mammogram, and I am simply not willing to spend a month a year anxiously awaiting the test, and then the results. Plus I don't trust mammograms. Too much depends on the skill of the technician, radiologist, etc. I had a clear mammogram 8 months before they found a 4 cm tumor. Secondly, our older daughter is expecting a baby in April. No way do I want to waste time dealing with another breast cancer if it can be avoided. Both my oncologist and my surgeon feel this is a rational decision, and my family is on board as well. I feel very much at peace and am looking forward to having it behind me.
Hugs to all of you.
Melia
-
Good to hear from you Melia...I know you have given this decision alot of thought and know it will be a good one for you..please let us know when the time comes for the surgery..you know we all be holding your hand..congrats on your daughter's pregnancy..sounds like gramma time for you...
Well, gals...let's throw some dates and places out...
how about the 19th or the 26th...
-
Hi,
Liz, the best weekend for me would be the 25th-26th as the 19th is the cancer walk in SD so that would be my vote--
Melia--my thoughts are with you...I know it will all go well --I know that Gretchen made her bilat mast decision way too quickly for some people's liking but it was so right for her because she knew that it would worry her so...... I'm struggling with the constant "somethings " that keep getting found and am waiting for the ins approval for an MRI. Just had a mammo and ultrasound last week for a leakage issue on the non-cancer breast and will start lymphedma pt this week for the breast (not my arm) on the rads side. It will be 3 yrs in Feb since this all started and I just can't seem to get even a few good months where it isn't something.
Bdrider---you out there--and how are you doing?
Sylvia
