ALL PRAYING FOR A CURE, OCT. 2008

Hello to all of my wonderful sisters on this forum.  A few of us are hoping to get as many people as possible to unite in prayer sometime in the month of October.  We believe strongly in the power of prayer.  We believe that we are getting closer and closer to a cure.  I believe God just needs a little nudge.  We need to resonate above the masses and ask for a cure for BC.  So, we are trying to designate a date in Oct., a time precisely for us all to pray for a cure, whereever you happen to be, whether in church, on the toilet, in the shower, yelling at your DD or perhaps in treatment.  is anyone else in?  Maryiz

    Hi Maryiz;

You can count me in. Just let me know the date, and I will be praying away. Anything is possible through God. I am pretty open. I am having a double mastectomy on Sept. 29th. So I will be in bed most of Oct. recooperating. So I have lots of time to pray. A time to draw  closer to the Lord.

    Blessings;Elizabeth

I am in. But what about making it Nov. 1, All Saints Day? It has a lot of meaning in the Christian faith, and gets us out of the commercial association with October as the BC awareness month. Plus, in a way, it can be a reminder that just because October is over, it does not mean we should forget about Breast Cancer. Besides, It is my son's birthday. A very special day for me anyway. LOL  Am I prejudice or what!!

LindaMemm, wow, what a wonderful idea?  That seems quite powerful to me.  Ebann, rest up for the month of Oct.  Anyone else want to chime in on date and time?  I love the idea of All Saints Day.Maryiz

I like the date Nov 1. As Linda said it will let us remember Breast Cancer is not confined to a single month.

Anybody have a time for us to pray simultaneously?  I realize we have to deal with time zones but we could manage.  Maryiz

I  think we are really on to something here. Imagine the Power of this prayer. We do not have to confine it's bounderies. Let's go international. If we all start spreading the word, by Nov. 1  we will have millions of prayers being said. If God does not hear this, he is certainly deaf! lol

Here is what I will send out. Any other suggestions?

    Pray for "Eve"

Please join the women of breastcancer.org in declaring November 1st, All Saint's Day, also  the International Day of Prayer for Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer awareness month will come and go, but the fight goes on for women all over the globe. Take some time this day to pray for all the women battling this horrible disease. Pray for our sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and dear friends who continue to fight on. Pray for those who no one even thinks about with this awful disease, the men who become victims too. Pray for all the lives that are touched and forever changed by having, or knowing someone who has breast cancer. Pray for a cure, and pray that it will come soon. Pray that we will soon understand why there is so much cancer in this world, and that we will figure out how to stop it. Pray with us, throughout this day, that all our our prayers will be answered!

Linda--that's beautifully written, count me in!  Just let me know what time on Nov. 1st.  ( I just came home from a clear mammo and US and feeling very blessed and very grateful for good health).

I'm in!! I think using All Saints Day is totally brilliant. It seems to be quite approriate and will be emotion-filled -- in memory of all those that we have already lost to this disease.

Linda..... one teeny suggestion to the 'release' above.... I know that women are by far and away the majority of those inflicted with this disease, but I have met some men in this forum who are diagnosed as well. Perhaps as you 'work' on getting the word out to be a bit more 'inclusive' -- so that we don't leave anyone out who is suffering at the hands of this. I suppose the mention of dear friends could include men, but I wouldn't want anyone to be offended, before we even begin.

Faith, great point,  I will work on getting the guys in our prayers. I added the line about cancer in general, because it seemed appropriate. Anymore suggestions???

Thank you. I think how you handled the male-issue is very creative and appropo. I also second your idea of including cancer in a more generic manner. Sad to say, we are not the only ones suffering. This feels like such a good idea.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling.

Maryiz, You really started something special here. I hope it catches on. I did a little more editing on the prayer. Do you think we should add some links? Maybe one of those funny graphics on the pink pepto bismol thread and/or the think before you pink campaign? I do not know how to do this. Anyone else want to?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.  Linda, awesome idea to include everyone in on this prayer.  You may even get more prayers from others who are suffering from another cancer.  We are all in this together.  Anyone care to suggest a time?  Also, I am not so savvy on computer spread.  Any geniuses out there? Thanks, love to you all, Maryiz

Let 's make a point to email the other big bc sites like...mast. bc and triple neg. I know there are other's but not sure of their website addresses.   Robin Roberts on Good Morning America is involved in one of them. I wonder if we could track her down and maybe we could get some coverage for our special day?

As far as setting a time, I think we should just keep it open. I know I will think about it all day, and say lots of prayers. If we spread the word well enough, it will be a whole day of prayers. Prayers are answered, wouldn't it be great if ours will be too.

So Maryliz, where do we go from here? Does someone want to step up and help us get the ball rolling who is more of a computer whiz? Should we add some pictures or links? Anyone want to take the ball from here and run with it?

LindaMemm, good idea once again.  You are always a step ahead of me.  Yes, all day prayer is great, not just one time.  FlaLady, I will try sending an email to GMA and see if that helps.  Another idea is to email your friends and relatives, include them in our prayer day.  With the stats of 1 in 3 will get cancer in their lifetime, I think everyone would like to see a cure.

SloneDeb, hang in there, sweetie, you are in our daily prayers.  Love to you all, Maryiz

I think all day prayer is a great idea but also would suggest that we pick a specific time for everyone to pray...this would be so powerful and comforting.

I looked at the world clock and tried to come up with the best time....here's what I came up with.

     East coast -noon

    Central - 11AM

    Mountain - 10AM

    Pacific - 9AM

    Alaska - 8 AM

    Hawaii - 7 AM

    South America - Noon

    England - 5 PM

    France - 6 PM

    Africa - 4, 6 or 7PM

    Moscow 8PM

    India 10PM

    China Midnight

    Syndey  2AM

    New Zealand 4AM

I'm not sure if I got all of this totally correct but at least it is an idea....the only problems I see with this is for our Australian and New Zealand sisters.

    God Bless,

    Nancy

eddited to add that we probably need to get this on all the threads to reach everyone.

GrammyNancy, thanks for the  list.  Speaking from a religious point of view, one designated time could be suggested for all to pray, say 12 noon eastern time and others join in if they can.  But it is still powerful to think anyone can pray at any time on Nov. 1, All Saints Day.  Love to you all, Maryiz

Hi to everyone, can anyone help to get this thread pumped a little bit. Kind of stagnant.  Also, the Nov. 1st All Saints Day Pray for BC cure is slowing down.  We need numbers, please help. Maryiz
