Something different

Hi all,

I had my 5th dose of Taxol and Herceptin today. They lowered my Benadryl and dex. I am still very tired, but feel a little more "alert" today. I had something odd happen today, however. I thought I started feeling a little short of breath with very mild chest (or was it just my midback) discomfort. It was after the Herceptin, Benadryl and dex and during the Taxol. I was just lying on the couch and thinking that I still had a little shortness of breath. Could this just be back pain and tiredness? Anyone else feel this way during or after treatment? Oh, something else strange that started last night and is there again today. My scalp hurts. I have only peach fuzz having lost my hair a long time ago during the AC. There is really not much else to lose, but it hurts like it did before my hair fell out. I have heard of people having hair grow back in during Taxol, not fall out completely all of a sudden after several treatments.

I did not have chemo, so I am not a lot of help with some of the problems you are having, but I do remember very specifically chemo gals complaining mightily of scalp's hurting.  So this is normal.

Other women will be along to help with your other issue.

    Gentle hugs, Shirlann

Cathy - anytime you experience a shortness of breath, bring it to your onc's attention.  I did not have Herceptin, but I did have Taxol.  Probably starting about the 9th treatment, I began experiencing shortness of breath, but waited until the 11th treatment to mention anything.  Due to damage to the heart, I did not have my 12th treatment, and now have to wait for the heart to regenerate before the onc will consider more chemo.  It's a precaution - and the heart has regenerated quite a bit - but do mention this shortness of breath.  I had pain when both losing and regaining my hair.  LOL

Did you have shortness of breath during the treatment and did it go away? Mine is now not noticable, but I did notice the strange sensation during my treatment. This was my 5th dose of Taxol.
