I joined a dragon boat team which is almost all survivors. Any body else out there doing that, too? It is a lot of fun.

I attended my irst dragonboat race last year here in Phoenix.  There was a team of survivor's racing as well.  Looked like a lot of fun and I may look into joining the team for next year.

I am currently in the process of establishing a Team Survivor affiliate in North Carolina (NC Triangle Team Survivor) and we won't be having dragon boating. There are, however, several teams throughout the US for those interested. Why don't you check it out:

Many of the Team Survivor affiliates also have groups training for the Danskin Triathlon, so some of you might have an interest in that or in other types of fitness activities for female survivors.

I joined my BCS dragonboat team back in 2001 when I was just 3 months out of my last chemo, the other survivors on the team became my support group.  When I met women on the team that had been survivors for 10 or 15 years I realized that I could go on living a full and active life.  There are quite a few non BCS teams in my area and they are all very supportive of what we are doing. It's a great sport, I recommend it to all.

I'm a member of GoPink!DC, Washington DC's dragon boat team for breast cancer survivors.  If anyone's looking for info, you can find us at www.gopinkdc.com.  It's a lot of fun, and the team members provide great support and friendship!
