I hope that you are all either out safely or hunkered down in a safe area.   I've been monitoring the www.khou.com live feed and it looks like it's getting really bad in the low-lying areas already with flooding and waves over the seawall.

My prayers are with you and your families.  If you've starting heading for, or already arrived at, an evacuation area in texas and need a friendly face, pm me.  If I'm close enough,  I'll bring ya some cookies or something.  Y'all take care.

I was in Houston this week and fortunately had a flight scheduled last night to Dallas and made it home okay, but it was really scary to watch the news, press conferences, constant coverage in general, along with boarded windows on a hotel in downtown - it was my first experience being in an affected area, albeit well before the danger arrived - but it freaked me out a bit!   Hoping everyone stays safe and as dry as possible - (I am supposed to go back next week, so I guess I'll find out!)

I used to spend quite a bit of time in Houston - it's a beautiful city.  My thoughts are with everyone there and in the hurricane's path.  Stay safe.

Looks likes Galveston is getting hit pretty hard right now.

Yup.  This is an infrared satellite photo from 7:30 p.m. CDT (courtesy of www.intellicast.com).  Check out that intense pink band that's just about to go onshore.

It's looking pretty bad right now.  Houston seems to be getting the worst of it instead of Galveston and Galveston had alot of early flooding.  That tight eye isn't helping any.  For those of you who just hunkered down, I hope you are o.k.  Check in when you can.  Sending up prayers for you all.

It is amazing how animals can sense when a storm (hurricane) is coming.   Thursday and Friday my dogs would go outside, stop and sniff the air.   They could tell the barometric pressure was dropping.

The dogs are doing the same thing this morning because we are still experiencing winds from Ike.

They acted the same way when Gustav hit us.  Their behavior amazes me.

I hope all who were in that storm came through safely.  I didn't sleep well last night and was listening to a live radio show from houston and people were calling in from different areas on their cell phones saying what was going on.  Didn't sound like a very pretty site but luckily these peole that had stayed to ride it our were doing ok.  I hope everybody fares as well as those.
