BRCA2+ and Triple Negative
Hi! I was just wondering if there are other TNs who are also BRCA2+, as my understanding is that if BRCA is a component, it is most likely 1. I inherited this gene from my asymptomatic dad who was born in the Philipines. Thanks!

Hi, I am not a BRCA2, but I wanted to welcome you to this board and tell you to come often and post any questions.
I am a TriNeg and I am just about 10 years post treatment, so things often go well.
Other women will be on board soon.
Again, welcome! Gentle hugs, Shirlann

Hi Alex,
I am a sister here- triple negative and BRCA2+. My maternal aunt dies of BC, so I assume that was the line I got it from. My sister tested negative for BRCA
FYI I had double mastectomy with expanders and an oopherectomy
I am 3 years NED!
Welcome and feel free to ask any questions

Susan,
So nice to hear that you are 3 years NED now!
I just finished my treatment so all the positive goals are welcome.
All the best to everyone,

Dear Susan,
It seems there are not a lot of us around, but I find great encouragement seeing you have passed the 3 year mark. I have 3of 4 sisters who are also BRCA2+, with 2 of them having had breast cancer. All three of us had different types of breast cancer. My oldest sister was diagnosed 15 years ago at 40. She was stage 1 mucinous/adenoid cystic carcinoma, ER+. My youngest sister was just diagnosed at 42 in January 2008 with stage 2b ER+, PR+ 5cm of DCIS with 2 invasive foci 5mm and 1.3mm. My other BRCA+ sister had a PBM. Smart girl. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 52, but I wind up with the triple negative. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Alex,
I'm triple negative, BRCA2+, and 3 years out as of May and going strong!

It is so nice to have found this commmunity here at BC.org. I was reading on the FORCE board about finding your exact mutation among others and although I knew me and my sisters got the gene mutation from my dad, it was amazing to see that the exact mutation was found in others of Filipino descent. Thanks cmb35 for more uplifting news, that despite our genetics, you remain cancer-free three years out. I'm having PBM in December and I think being pro-active is giving me great optimism.

What is PBM?
-
PBM = prophylactic bilateral mastectomies
