Weight gain/bloating!! UGGHH!!
I completed Tx#2 of 4 (TAC) a week and a half ago. I seem to have gained 6 lbs. in the last 2 - 3 weeks and it all seems to be in my tummy. My pants fit fine everywhere else but the waist. Which is unusual because I usually gain weight in my behind! It is funny because my eating habits have not really changed much. I feel constantly full and bloated! YUCK!!! Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be the steroids, water weight, bloating due to who knows what...or related to chemopause? I did have about a 2 week long period after the first Tx. Help!

Sounds like the normal feelings of TAC. I had it 2 years ago and I seemed to blow up just a bit more with every treatment. I think it is a culmination of all you mentioned. By Tx#6 I was really bloated and had gained 25 pounds. I really hope this doesn't happen to you unless you need an extra 25 pounds. I did not. My onc told me not to worry about what I ate during TAC. She said to eat whatever I could and that I did. Chocolate milkshakes were my favorite.

CMF chemo patient here. I was given a steroid in the drip before all of my chemo treatments. I ended up with a chemo pooch that 2 years of exercise and diet never ever improved. I lost everywhere but the pooch area. I have seen myself in photos and also noted I have somehow gained an extra neck in those days. I was diagnosed hypothyroid, very long after I should have been, and also had that pooch removed with a P. Tram flap. Now I feel healthy and look healthy. I was immediately sent to menopause or chemopause after chemo. That probably had a lot to do with the symptoms too.

I get the chemo belly with each new kind of chemo's they have given in the past. This is because chemo get's into the lining of your stomach. This kills the natural enzymes in your stomach. This time I'm blending juices and drinking them to help with the enzymes...I'm doing much better this time. You can also take enzymes in a pill form.
Try this and see if it helps.

I finished chemo over one year ago and finished Herceptin this May. I gained 25 lbs and thought it would just fall off after treatments were done. NOT! I was a DD before and now a small C and it is the first time in my life that my tummy roll is bigger than my boobs. I am miserable but not dedicated to dieting yet. This whole thing just sucks!
