    Hi all!!!

    back this morning from Istanbul. What a GREAT city, I love that place... every time I go it steals my heart. I have to upload the pics I took, and I'll post the link in the yahoo bit... :) I was out late yesterday night, going from little restaurant to alcove bar - it appears that Ramadan be d.....d, it's party time all the same!!! delicious food, great wine, and I even sampled some Raki (local aniseed drink). Well, I also did work some.

    Kato, I am looking at Disney US - in CA - Glendale. They are looking for filling a quite senior position in my specialty, I wonder if I have a shot (but of course, without a green card, they'll need to be motivated). True that I have a quite strong CV. I'll keep you in the loop.

    Nash, what you say makes good sense. I am definitely not a budget expert, but I feel you should have a budget that cover everything as if you were to pay for stuff... the problem with budgets is not when one over-budget, but when one under-budget.     I am going for a nap... was up at 4 in the morning to catch a plane...

    Lilith--my DH is from Glendale, we were married there, and I lived there for a couple years. Thanks so much for the advice on the budget--will check out the link. Looking forward to pictures!

    OK, there I go again, "Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul, not Constantinope" dum, dum, dum...

    Anyhow, was logging on to say that I just wrote a rough draft of a letter to the skating director of the rink where I want to hold Pink at the Rink. I posted the letter over on our Yahoo group, and was wondering if you girls could read it and tell me what you thought of it. Thank you!!!!

    Hey All,

    Just a quick response to Nash's appeal that we critique her letter.  In MHO it was great!  Concise, to the point perfectly, outlined exactly what you're asking her for, told her briefly what you have accomplished thus far, and probably most important to 'all great salesmen', you ASKED for the business before you closed the letter.  Great job Miss Nash!

    Lillith - GREAT pix of Istanbul. My geography is nearly as bad as my history, but is "Galata" the same as "Galatia" in the Bible? DH will know....Terry????

    Hiya good lookin'! To answer your question, Galata is in the far northwest corner of the ancient land of Bithynia, which itself was in the far northwest corner of Galatia. The nation of Turkey now encompasses all of ancient Galatia. Now....back to work!!

    Hi Mato's DH! So nice to hear directly from our unofficial member!  None of us would have done quite so well with the whole courage, good humor thing were it not for the family backing us up, so a few blessings right back at you.

    Nash, the letter sounded perfect. To the point. Even flattered a bit, but not heavy handed with the whole "more show friendly" remark.  Nice!

    Lilith! Wow! Turkey had not previously been on my destination list, but it surely is now! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

    Kaye, well spotted with the history. I didn't think of that, but :) your DH is absolutely right. and, please give him our hugs for the nice things he says on us... my theory is, we are all just as brave as we need to be. Heck, I'd much prefer if my life had allowed me to remain a wuss, but noooooo.

    Lilith....love, love, love the pictures.  What an interesting place.  I dream of going the places you have been!!!  Kaye, thank you and DH for the history lesson.  I had no clue!!!  By the way Kaye's DH...thanx for the compliments.  Your input has gotten us through many trying situations.  Thanks back to youWink.

    In case anyone is interested, my magazine article for the hospital where I had my surgery came out.  I'm not as savvy as you ladies to post links and all that and my hubby is not home so if you would like to see it go to:

    I don't like the picture of me by the pool  because my eyes were tearing from the sun, but the photographer used it anyway.  oh well.  I just hope I can inspire some women to go get their mammograms annually.  Even though "following the rules" did nothing to prevent me from having it spread, maybe knowing about MRI's and so forth will help others.

    How funny - we all have similar haircuts... Tongue out

     On my side, I have to report that I had this morning my colonoscopy - yuk. They gave me enough sedative to get to sleep, that was brilliant!!! I hate those when I'm awake. When I came to, all was finished, and the doc said that all looked normal. Of course, the results of biopsies are not in for another week, but I am happy all looked good (I am at double risk, because of the BC, and because I have ulcerative colitis since 10 years...). Really, what a relief! hoping not to speak too soon...

    Yup. Colonoscopy is on the calendar over here, too. I know it's about an hour and a half, total, but how will I feel for the rest of the day if I have it in the morning? Will I be able to go back to work that day? (Will I want to?) Do you feel sore or bruised or weak or ... anything?

    You look beautiful!!!!! I was up and energetic and hungry (what else is new?) right after my colonoscopy.  I think you can go back to work, but  sometimes just the little trauma of the ordeal makes us just want to stay home on our little dent in the couch and relax.  Know what I mean? Or...maybe that's just the way I am these days.  You don't feel sore or bruised.  The worst part is the evening before.  The yukky (for lack of a better word) stuff you drink and the whole bathroom ordeal.  Try not to invite any guests over that night (LOL).  I threatened both my kids not to bring their friends over!!!!  After that it's smooth sailing.  Good luck.

    Ladies,

    I'm leaving tomm. to go down to Wildwood, NJ for a long weekend.  It's the annual firefighter's convention for the State of NJ.  It's usually a fun weekend and our last chance to get to the beach before fall weather sets in.  I hope you are all well and have a great weekend.

    Lilith, glad the Rotorootering is over. Keep us posted on the biopsy results. My onc wants me to get a baseline colonscopy this year, so I have an appointment with a new internist next week for a physical, and I'll ask her to order one then. Can't wait. Undecided When do you go for your's, Kaye?

    Kaye! I love the new avatar, you are very beautiful and classy there!

    This was my - ahem - 5th or 6th colo - what a joy. As Jackie says - the day before is unpleasant (get anti-chafing cream for - you know where...), but the most unpleasant part of the whole process is the needle in the vein. Make sure they give you enough calmant/sleeping/anesthaesia, it is not painful (I had also some fully awake without any), but it can be very unpleasant, plus you really don't want to be "there". So - tell your nurse that you are very sensitive to pain, and that you are going to scream if you feel anything - no kidding.

    This time, they gave me enough stuff to fall completely asleep. A real blessing, When the nurse told me they were planning to get me asleep, I almost hugged the girl.

    After, I walked home... :)) and grabbed a sandwich on the way (I walked through town). and I confess I DIDN'T go back to work, but slept most of the afternoon.

    Yes, we do have the same haircut!!!!! I'm glad they put you to sleep to do the colonoscopy.  I can't imagine being awake....scary.  I pray all is okay.

    Holy cow, gals!!  So much cool stuff going on!  Jackie-- you are a cover girl, just like Lilith said.  Last year bald, this year cover girl  Watch out world.  Kaye-- your new avatar is absolutely lovely.  Lilith the pics from Istanbul were amazing.  i had no idea.  And I also had the Istanbul-Constantinople ditty going thru my head the whole time.  I know I am chiming in late, but I also liked the letter, Nash.  Well done.  And hi June, DeAnn, and Harley (we know you're out there!!) :)  Have I missed anyone?  probably.  Sorry if i am.  I can't remember who is on which thread sometimes. 

    Anyhoo....  I just wanted to pop in.  It seems like it is eternally bath night here. night all...

    Just a little line...

    as I laid awake yesterday nite - I guess I've slept too long yesterday afternoon ;) - I was thinking of all of you gals. I have to say that seeing us one year later - all of us, Jackie, Kaye, DeAnn, Angie, June, Harley, and Nash, and any I may have momentarily forgotten... with the horrid year we all went through (and no-one had a worse one than you, Nash....), we all look great, maybe better than before, strong, upbeat, and looking forward to life; seeing our children grow, travelling, enjoying life with our mates, planning work and life events....

    I can only say that I feel immensily proud of all of us, silly as it may sound. And if I have to fly all the way over to LA to meet with all of you, heck. I will.

    When I was at the rink today, I was babbling about the proposed show to yet another of my skating buddies whom I hadn't cornered about it yet Smile, and when I was telling her about bc.org and our little group in particular, I really, really felt passionate about it. The nice thing was, she understood.

    Hi Ladies,

    Sometime ago I accidentally signed onto this thread instead of the August 08 one and I have found  it to be so interesting and enlightening  that I have been lurking ever since.  I have learned a lot and have been able to see thru your uplifting posts that we can and do get to the other side of this and can do it positively!  This thread has given me a lot of the reassurance that I need. Now I am almost half way thru chemo, getting my last AC next Friday.  After that I start Taxol for 4 weeks.   Reading your post has helped make this journey a lot easier.

    Lillith, Turkey is on my list of 'Dream come True' things to do.  I live in Paris and someday I would like to travel to Istanbull from here on the Orient Express.  I couldn't figure out how to get to see your travel photos though.  Could you let me know how to do that?

    Roya, Congratulations on getting to your last round of AC! If your experience is anything like mine, I found Taxol to be sooo much easier, and I really hope you will find the same to be true for you. My hair even started to grow back during Taxol.

    Lilith, came across your posts about Istanbul when I was looking for colonoscopy info (I have to have one next week because of some symptoms, blockage suspected) but anyway I'd love to see your pics if I could.  We visited there in May on a Mediterranean cruise, and then had our camera stolen in Barcelona just before we came home so we have no pictures :(  I'm having trouble remembering what we saw without pictures.  Wonderful trip but disappointing end. If you don't mind, could you let me know how to see them?  thanks!

    Roya, you are in Paris? are you french-speaking, or an expat there? I am in Switzerland, Lausanne, 3 hours by train... my sister lives in Paris too, and I do travel in that direction occasionally.... The Orient-Express is like a fairy tale, alas I am not sure how much of it is still as it used to be... it must be an adventure anyway. Bet you'll make it!

    Brenda, if you want to "steal" some pictures from my site, feel free... I hope that they will remind you of some of the beautiful sights of that incredible city. IMHO, it is second to none, and compares only to Rome....
