Menopause and UTI symptons

Hi Ladies;  I'm sure where to post this, but I need some help and thought someone on this board may have experienced what I am going through.

Chemotherapy caused me to go into menopause last year.  For the last month I have had a slight burning sensation in my bladder, all the time, not just when urinating.  I have been checked for a UTI (bladder infection) but there is no sign of infection.  Finally I went to a Urologist who told me that in some ladies dryness of the vaginal area bothers the urethra, and this is what I am experiencing.  He said this is common, however, I have never heard of this.  He was sure that is all I have, but I don't know.  Bladder cancer runs in my family and I would have liked him to check me a little more thoroughly!

Thank you!

I agree with your doc.  I thought I had recurring vag. infections and self medicated for them twice before I figured out I had terrible dryness.

I spoke with my onc and he ordered Estring and I used it 6 mos and after that had no problems.

I also agree.  I had a history of UTI's so I thought I knew what was going on.  I didn't.  My doc said I had "marked vaginal atrophy" or dryness.  I use vagifem (ok'd by onc).

Thank you, ladies.  I am triple negative, so probably using vagifem or the estring.  I just don't think I'm terribly dry, but what do I know?  I guess I will talk to be gyn.

If you'd like total peace of mind, you could consider asking your Urologist to do a Cytoscopy.  That way you can be sure.
