Menopause and UTI symptons

Hi Ladies;  I'm sure where to post this, but I need some help.

Chemotherapy caused me to go into menopause last year.  For the last month I have had a slight burning sensation in my bladder, all the time, not just when urinating.  I have been checked for a UTI (bladder infection) but there is no sign of infection.  Finally I went to a Urologist who told me that in some ladies dryness of the vaginal area bothers the urethra, and this is what I am experiencing.  He said this is common, however, I have never heard of this.  He was sure that is all I have, but I don't know.  Bladder cancer runs in my family and I would have liked him to check me a little more thoroughly!

Thank you!

Hm, I now have this as well, and I am in chemopause, got the irritation right after lupron shot to put me firmly into menopause.

I have heard of the dryness causing this, I'd drink lots of water and cranberry juice and if it bothers you in a while, go back and ask for a bladder test, it'll put your mind at ease anyway.

    Good luck!

Oh they also told me to cut down on the coffee (ha ha)

Wow, this is so funny! I just posted on my blog about this very thing. Apparently UTIs are a symptom of menopause, along with vaginal dryness, at least that's what the PR folks at Replens (Vaginal Moisturizer) shared with me (I'm giving away a bunch of samples on my site but if you'd like some, just PM me your address and I'll send some your way to see if it helps!

I went into natural menopause at the age of 45 and yes... the dryness, bladder tingling, itching... all are part of it... the last 4 - 5 years (am 57 now) the worst part for me has been dryness and itching.

Thanks ladies!  While I feel better knowing that my problem isn't at all related to bladder cancer : ), its disappointing to find that there are more menopause symptoms in my future, not just the hot flashes and night sweats!   I thought menopause was going to be easy, because at first my symptoms were minor, but now I have this burning, I have bad reflux, and apparently I can look forward to more wrinkles!  ARGHH!
