57 Blessings

When I was undergoing chemo with the "big guns" of adriamycin/cytoxan, I decided to journal my blessings from having had cancer.  I came up with 56.  When I told my youngest son Josh, who was 11 at the time, he told me he was starting a journal of his own blessings.  Sure enough, and to my surprise (I thought boys didn't journal, period!), he started listing his blessings in a little journal he got as a birthday party favor.  So I added that blessing to my list, reaching 57.  I am still counting them, one by one as the old hymn goes.  This anecdote is part of my cancer story chronicled in my recently published book, "Mourning Has Broken:  Reflections on Surviving Cancer" (Jan Hasak, Xulon Press 2008).  Jan
