Do you walk away or run from toxic?

Words are VERY powerful.

That which we see and experience has an impact on us.

Do you walk away or run from people or things that are not healthy for you because the message or actions they deliver are not healthy or are toxic for you?

(i.e., relationships, media)

When we don't back away from such things, what do you think keeps us there?

I run.  Who knows how much time we have left.  I don't want to spend it that way.  Some people are used to the pain and don't think they deserve better.  Some people are too polite.  I've gotten a lot less polite since my diagnosis.

    Personally,

I think that is one of the positives of being DX.  You realize life IS short.

I am much healthier and stronger now.  I have a better gauge of that which I will not tolerate.

I am respectful, kind and caring and feel I want the same.

Stress is something I do not need.  Nor do I need others who do not respect other's feelings.

I use to post on another internet forum daily until things got ugly.  It saddens me to see how hurtful some people can be with each other.

Some television shows I watch are beyond disgusting.  I am learning to turn the nonsense off.  Sometimes even the news is stressful and not worth watching.

People/relationships, learning to let go of some of those too.

I think all of this is good stuff.

    Yah me!!!!! :)

    p.s. Long journey getting here.

    Run,

I watch Animal Planet it's even really scary sometimes but so worth it when you see all the people fighting to save and help animals, thats all I can stand.

I can't believe you posted this question today!  I just mentioned on another thread that I have lost all patience for "stupid" things.  I was thinking of some of the daily hassles of life, like burning the pancakes for breakfast, or losing my car keys.  But, my lack of patience also involves walking away from people who like to start and/or perpetuate arguments, and those who seem to enjoy being nasty.  For me, that includes "virtual" (on-line) arguments and nastiness, as well as real ones.

I used to love to engage in a healthy "debate".  Now, I have no energy I care to waste on such things.  Once I sense a storm brewing, I'm likely to turn and walk away very quickly.

I think my change of attitude occurred when I realized I needed to dedicate most of my energy toward rebuilding myself after my BC dx and treatments.
