I just came back from a week at the beach.  Since I don't have grandchildren, I can't think of anything more positive than that.  My mom and I go every year together.  After the last year, me with treatments and my dad died in May, we really needed this down time.  The sound of the surf, walks on the beach and lots of books to read.  My idea of heaven (again, until I have grandkids!!!)

And what a nice surprise when I came home.  My hubby had painted our bedroom and put in new carpet.  I love those kind of renos, I go away and when I come back they are all done!

I may be a couple of weeks before I report again.  I am having surgery on Wed and may not have a lot of positives to say for a few days!

    Take care

I want to join the PGCKiss It really does make things easier when the attitude is good. Like so many other posts, it could be alot worse! And....I have met some of the nicest people throughout this whole ordeal....including those on this forum.

Prettyinpink----it sounds like you had a vacation from Heaven. I'll be thinking about you on Wednesday and say a special prayer for you. What type surgery----if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks Ic.  I am having an oomph and hysterectomy.  Then I will be able to go on to an AI in the fall.  Hopefully it will be the last surgery!  I don't have much else to remove.

Nice getaway with your Mom, PIP! That is so special. My mom is in late stage Alzheimer's, so most of our 'shared' moments are over. So sweet of your hubby to have such a great surprise waiting for you.

I'll be thinking of you and praying for you as you go through more surgeries this week.

Welcome Lisa to the PGC! We can always use another positive face!

My positive is: I got a new computer! I'm enjoying it so far, but still have to finish setting it up!

Well PIP, this is the week. My prayers are with you!!

Thanks Miss S for the "welcome note"Smile I'm sorry to hear that your mom has Alzheimer's. That's an ugly disease. You have my prayers. They say the caregivers are usually the ones hit hard with this one.

My positive today is: I was able to take a whole basket of caps/hats/scarves to our local office of the American Cancer Society. I met the nicest lady that works there. She's a BC survivor---has been for 8 years!! Was really nice talking with her.

Hope everyone here has a great day!!!

PIP my prayers are with you as well.

Mis Shapen, sorry to hear about your mom.

Lisa, welcome to the Club. I also donate hand made hats to our local 'wig bank'. It is a non-profit organization that helps the whole community with wigs, hats, scarves and support groups. My mom, who is a 7 yr survivor, volunteers there one day a week. I would volunteer as well but I work 5 days a week.

I had a lovely meal last night with another member on bc.org who lives in another town close by. We have met previously and discussed our experience with bc.

    Sheila,

It's good to talk to others who know what you're going through. I've talked to so many ladies and they're so encouraging when they say things like.........."I'm a 20 year survivor"! or "I had BC way back in....." I think it would be so neat to volunteer and help people in need. I wish I had the time. Have a great day!!!

    Hi Gals,

Time for us to share some positive stuff... I've had somewhat of a rough week, but I will say that the weather is absolutely gorgeous and I'm going to a little birthday party for a very sweet one year old this afternoon.

I just want to thank God for all the many blessings we sometimes overlook everyday.

I also am late with the positives, please forgive me. I have gotten so busy I forget to look for the positives. Maybe being busy is a positive in itself.

My son will be home in about 2 months for good from the Navy. He has injured his knee and will be getting an honorable discharge.

Brenda (Naniam) and I had a lovely Grilled chicken salads at a new pizza restraunt last Monday and I gave her some yarn I had left at the house for the afghan project. I have gone to crocheting more with the cotton thread making lacey items. When I crochet with worsted weight yarn, my wrist hurts so I don't do much big projects anymore. I am also meeting AnneW from Colorado in 2 weeks, she is originally from the area I live and is coming to visit other friends and we are planning a trip to Asheville to see Earleen (makeupchicknc) for lunch.

Hope all have positives to post this week.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes.  The surgery was more complicated than planned but I am well on the road to recovery. I had peritonitis when I was 11 and the surg said it looked like a bomb had gone off on the right side.  He had trouble even finding the ovary.  So I now have a 10 inch incision and lots of bruising.  My hgb is low from blood loss as I was put on blood thinners for the surg due to a previous clot.

So, my positive for this week has to be that the last surgery is over and went rather well.  As I recover from this, I am hoping that the next stage of my life will be getting back on my feet and taking back my life.  And I do get to take the rest of the summer off.  Better than last summer when I was on chemo!

PIP, I spent last summer recouperating from bilat mast and recon, fortunately I had no invasion so I didn't need chemo. Rest and recover this summer.

Positive Girls - guess what - IT'S FRIDAY!!!!

My positive for today is my hubby is home before midnight! That is good because I have to drive 1 hour to pick him up, his car window broke again (twice in 3 weeks) and was in the shop when he had to go on his trip Sunday night.

    Hope all have positive weekends.

    Hello Ladies,

Sorry I've taken such a long time in between posts here. I had a wonderful time meeting 12 ladies from my Chemo thread last weekend. We all had a great time in Las Vegas. A couple of them even won some money at the slots and the Blackjack tables. I put my $1 in a Penny machine and played until I got down to zero credits. We had lots of wonderful food. My favorite place was Batista's Hole in the Wall just off the strip. Great Italian food and a strolling Accordionist, to boot.

I actually found a leather purse I liked, but since it was at the SAS store I waited to get it here at home. Doesn't it figure that you go 1500 miles to find something you can buy close to home. I guess I should do more shopping here instead of waiting for vacations to do it.

I cropped me out of one of the shots we took last weekend, and thought I'd use it for my new Avatar.

A belated welcome to Lisa and wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery to PIP.

    Until next time.

Thanks dkmaustx---I assume you're talking to meWink I like this club! It sounds like you ladies had a great time in Vegas. You sound like me about shopping. I don't even notice some things in my own town, but when I go out of town, I see everything I want. I guess it relieves the guilt of spending money if you're on vacation or somethingTongue out

PIP-I hope you're feeling well this weekend. Praying everyday brings you closer to "no pain"! I'm fixing to go on vacation Thursday and plan to get the book we talked about on another thread to read on the plane and on the beach!!! I can't wait.

My positive today is - we got rain last night!!! It's been really hot and dry and we needed rain so bad. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend! hugs and prayers

Thanks all for your concern.  I am 11/2 weeks out and am bouncing back.  At one week out, my hgb fell through the floor and I was in bad shape.  Lots of iron and fluids and I am much better.  Although it is tender and achy, the pain is no problem at all.  I am surprised that I have not had an increase in hot flashes.  I would have thought that I would by now.  And of course, thankful to have NO DRAINS!

Debbie, your get together sounds wonderful. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just blink ourselves to a single place and meet the people who we have met through this cite?

PIP I'm glad you on the bounce. Just don't start feeling better and over-do things too quickly. Having the drains gone is a blessing!

I tried clicking on the links on the book about Cassie, but I couldn't get anything to come up. I'm going to Books-A-Million tomorrow to find it. Flying to California in a few days, and I want something positive and inspiritational to read.

Jpann-how was the visit with the new man in your life? I hope you have a great time

Sheila glad your hubby made it home before midnight. and maybe no more broken windows huh,Yell

Sending out positive vibes and wishes to everyone this week. If you have doctor's visits, tests, treatment, just remember all the sisters here that care about you and saying prayers for you!!

The unit that rolled the window up is what broke, not the actual window itself. His car is a 1993 Crown Victoria with a cable driven electric window operation. The first time the cable shredded with the window in the down position. It costs 100 to replace that part. We had in a 2 week period we had both front electric components break, and 2 weeks after the 2nd one was replaced it broke again, but fortunately the part was under warranty so we didn't have to pay another 100 to fix it again.

It sure is quiet here. It is another Friday, and they are calling for showers tonight. my county is still in an exceptional drought so any rain is welcomed.

I had a great week.  My hubby and I went to a friends cottage for a couple of days.  Their place is quaint but comfy and they are up on a big rock that overlooks the water.  I kept napping when I sat outside, the hum of the boats and the waves are like a sleeping pill for me.  The weather could not have been better.  I feel spiritually recharged.

I am still quite tired from the surgery/hgb thing but having more good days than bad. Hopefully I will get over that in a couple of weeks and can start back to work.  After 1 1/2 years, I am ready to get back to living again!

Hope  all is well with the rest of you and that you will have lots of positives to report.

HI, I'm doing well this week. I finally made back to my Water Aerobics class 3 times. I've been a bit off schedule since I returned from my trip to Vegas. The first week I had a little mishap in the car where I bumped side mirrors with a small pick-up. Then the second week it was in the shop for 2½ days because there was a problem with the part and reaching the insurance adjuster. Now we have the car back and it looks as good as new.

Our weather forecasters have been predicting rain here, So far we haven't had much that was measurable. My neighborhood lucked out yesterday by being under one of the little pop up showers, but the grass was dry enough this morning for my hubby to mow the lawn. We'll see if we actually get some of the rain they are predicting for the next 2 or 3 days. That hurricane 2 weeks ago dropped rain all around us, but Austin didn't get any at all.

It's fun to hear that some of you had little trips, and that you are starting to heal up PIP.

Take care of yourselves, and I'll see you next week.

Hi all Postive Girls. I went back to Earleen (makeupchicknc) last week for a final look/see at the work she did on my areolas the first of August and she said that they are perfect! She took the after picts and said if I am back in the Asheville area to stop by for lunch.

Hi everyone.  I have had a great week.  Feeling stronger after my oomph/hyst.  Still a long way to go but I am getting there.

My positive this week is my wonderful friends.  I was able to go to one of their homes for dinner and we had a wonderful time.  They all wanted to see my hyst and mast scars and I was quite happy to show them.  They thought they were a work of art!   It felt good to able to share that with them.
