I had my last dress fitting yesterday. I was too distraught to take photos. My mother and sister were in tow, and you can imagine the family drama.
I can tell my sister doesn't like the top of the dress, and I seriously didn't have enough time to look at myself in the mirror as I wanted.
But, the dress will be pressed, and steamed this week, and I will still have three weeks to try it on and play with it at home.
Taking out the white, and making it just pink and black was a great move.
I'll get a picture on here as soon as I get it home this week- and I want serious honest opinions- b/c at this point if I really don't like it, I can still look for something off the rack.

Looking for information about how to dry nail polish faster, I came upon a website http://www.cafeglam.com/
that then sent me to look at this little video on shoes seen on the street in NYC. Good for a giggle. Raye, they have gladiators, too.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/07/27/fashion/street-multimedia-3/index.html
Have not read much on this blog/site yet but looks interesting. No one is under 40 forever!
-
Send a pic Beth.
Tina - I thought you had bought your new dishware, set it up at home all fancy like and took a pic. ha.
Some cute shoes in the video, but not the gladiators, which look to be straight out of the Old Testament.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Since this thread seems to double as my wedding spot, there was no other place I wanted to spill what happened tonight.
We attended the physicians of distinction 1st annual golf charity event, (the physicians being my two bosses) Anyway, there were a ton of silent auctions. One happened to be a 4 night 5 day trip to cotton bay village in St Lucia. Breakfast and dinner included, among other great things.... anyway, the trip was valued at $5500. The bidding opened at $1,000, and was quickly filling up. Matthew and I were DETERMINED. Finally, the auction was about to close and I was able to get a bid of $2300 in, and this guy was about to bid after me. I played the cancer card.
I said my four year anniversary is in 2 weeks, and I am getting married, and the guy and his wife looked at us, and said take it, and shook our hands.
WE GOT OUR HONEYMOON!!!!!!!! And, the best part is that it sends 2 kids to the camp adventure from the American Cancer Society (tax write off-- which is an added bonus).
I was positvely GLOWING! This is the most excited I've felt in so long. We had such a great team effort going between me and M., and I'm so glad that at the final second, my bosses friends gracefully bowed out to let us youngins have the prize.
I am so excited! I met the travel agent at the event, and she said she may be able to help us with deals for the airfare for my family to Jamiaca for the wedding too.
Tonight was magical. My dress was perfect and my hair and makeup kicked butt too... I will post pix as soon as I get my hands on them.
xoxoxo

Well, that is some of the best news I've heard in a long, long time. I am laughing at the mental sight of you and M. with that determined look in your eyes and bidding, bidding, determined to CRUSH the competition. LOL Way to go. Happy dance for you.
-
You know you're a mom when someone links to bracelets and you're drawn to the washer and dryer set on the ad over to the side!!!! Oh my, that front load set is my fashion statement!
-
OH BETH, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

Thanks girls, rocktober LMAO.... you're such a mom.
-
ALLLL -RIGHT BETH!!!
Way to go on scoring the wedding trip! Sorry I missed this when the news was still fresh, but the thrill must still be there. What anticipation! YAAAY! So where's the pic of the dress?!?
Oh, btw - can you just imaginelooking this good, vacationing on the Mediterranean, at 63?!?
Lisa<---who went back to dieting 3 days ago
-
Beth - I' missed that you're getting married
Congratulations!
-
C'mon Beth, can't you just see it "Sedona" or Cherry Red .... ?? Cherry Red is beautiful.
Oh but I guess you are thinking bikini, honeymoon, champagne, not laundry .... well prepare yourself, dude!!!!!
-
I have LG energy saver digital front loaders, and I love them.
But thinking of getting married in Jamaica, then darting over to St. Lucia is WAYYYYY better.
LOL
-
I just adore Helen Mirren. Her Prime Suspect was one of my fav of the PBS Mysteries. Her birth name is Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov; father Russian, mother Brit.
One of her boobs is about the size of my head.
One of these days I will buy a new washer/dryer. Thinking of a front-loader this time. But, waste not want not. I am waiting my my old ones s--t the bed. Well, this is fashion related. We DO have to wash what we wear.
Beth, thanks for the link. I am loving the short jackets and cardigans. OTOH, I have never given up my high waist (actual waist) pants for the dippity ones. So, I am back in style. LOVE some of those booties with high heels. Now, if only I had someplace to wear them.
Any fashion hints for around the farm? LOL
-
I'm sure there are some really cute hats that are perfect for farm life.
You could always get a bedazzler and glitz them up...lol I can see it now.
Washers and Dryers are great, but drycleaning is even better...
-
That's great Beth..I can't wait to see the pics of your dress...you'll have such a great time in St. Lucia!
-
I bought issues of W magazine and the Brit In Style yesterday and have just about decided that the bootie shoes, those high heeled ankle-ish shoes, are for me, with slacks, for this fall/winter. Now I just have to find a pair that I like as much as the Louboutins for about 1/10 the price.
-
and when you come across that shoe Tina, I want to be the first person you tell about them, and where I need to go purchase them.
-
Target panties are 5 for $15!!!
I got this adorable side stitched microfiber tank top which is so soft. I love it.
-
The first one is cute. Love it in chocolate color, however BROWN is totally out for this season.
The second pair I love. They look like my favorite boots from BCBG that I got at Lord and Taylor last year. They are the most comfy shoes I own.
3- just EH for me
4- super sexy. That toe box is very in style right now
5- can't get down with that heel height. eek. that's just in my world though...
-
So, if I spring for the sexy boot/shoes with the high heels, do I do a B&W tweed pant, wide leg high waist (I think these are in style this season???) with a short jacket to complete? I could do a black jacket or a color. I would love a jewel tone jacket but strong colors are not good on me. I'm a summer, if you remember the old system. Need medium tone, cool colors.
Also, where do I look for a perfect, perfect white blouse? I don't like a too big and pointy collar because I am petite. I like the look of a V-neck. I wear a 4 in a dept. store line. Forget spending $400 on a shirt. Anywhere from $50 to $125 is plenty, I think.
-
the perfect white blouse---
-
Wow, what cute clothes. I saw several things I like a lot.
BIG NOTICE!!!***###^^^!!! Louboutin is going to be on Oprah today. At least, they said the designer of the famous red soled shoes which, I guess, is him. Probably a repeat but I didn't see it the first time around.
-
It is a repeat but worth watching... Oprah own every single pair... JEALOUS!!!!
-
In the meantime, here are some examples of what I mean by the perfect white blouse. Imagine these with black pants and the red Louboutins.
http://www.gorsuch.com/product/womens/shirts/perfect+white+shirt/caron+ruffle+shirt.do almost $900!!!
http://www.gorsuch.com/product/womens/shirts/perfect+white+shirt/marilyn+shirt.do Great but collar too big.
http://www.gorsuch.com/product/womens/shirts/perfect+white+shirt/kayla+shirt.do The scale of this one looks right for me. Not the price. Maybe I should haul out the old sewing machine.
-
There are so many incredible white blouses for a fraction of that price.
Speigel catalogue always has great white blouses too, but I refuse to buy anything else from them after this ridiculous mishap with a bathingsuit I ordered.
-
A weekend diversion: Here's a link to a Gothic fashion magazine. I saw it on the stand at Borders last weekend.
It's not the only site, but just a mild one to look at. Some of them are truly strange. Kind of reminds me of the time DH and some friends wandered into a Vampire Club in Montreal.........They didn't stay too long. LOL
-
Well, Beth must be at her big party as I speak. I hope she is having a stupendous time, being the belle of the ball. I know she must look beautiful. Hopefully, we will hear all the details tomorrow (if she is still standing).
I did buy some booties on Friday. They are not the Louboutin's that I covet but they will look very nice with pants or skirts/black hose. Here's link. Click on the black pic. That's what I bought. Plus, I had a coupon for $15.00. I would normally have waited until they were on big sale, but the sales clerk said they were out of size 7's already (had brought in multiple runs) and, luckily, they are narrow enough that the 7 1/2 fit perfectly, anyway. They were the last pair. And they had just come in last week!!! So, I sprung.
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=322332&CategoryID=25122&LinkType=EverGreen Don't forget, mine are the black. I don't think I could walk in anything higher. I've not worn high heels in about 15 years. I kid you not!
DH thought they looked fab. My friend said they look kinda witchy. I think that's a good thing.
-
HEY!
I got to see the gorgeous dress and accessories on Beth today.
She looked positively radiant. Matthew was even cuter than ever.
The party was a blast and I thought I would share with all you fashionistas a picture!
This is me and Beth- please ignore my hair- it is growing out... very slowly!
