What is my anniversary date??
I frequently talk to ladies who talk about reaching or celebrating their "anniversary". Most are talking about the anniversary of their dx. I am approaching the year mark of the beginning of this journey. Here is my question - Had my first mammo in August (which recommended I have a diagnositc mammo, see a surgeon and have a biopsy ASAP), I had the diagnostic mammo 2 days after I got the results of the first mammo. At the diagnostic mammo, the radiologist confirmed the diagnosis (told my husband "it's not good"). I had a biopsy 8 days later, which confirmed what the radiologist told us, and then an MRI a week after I got the results of the biopsy to look for signs of invasive cancer, and get a better look at the other breast. Then there was the mastectomy itself with the SNB. What do you think???????????????????

i actually asked my bs that question once cause i too was curious. she told me the date i got dx which was my biopsy. a frozen section was done during the surg. so we knew that day that it was bc although not all the path specifics.
-
Ok, following that thinking - the day of the biopsy or the day I got the results?
-
Another wrinkle, Is it the day the bx was first read as b9, or in wife's case over 4 months later when it was re read as ooops we mest up it is cancer?
-
Yikes! That sucks! What do you think?

I actually go by the date of my bilat mastectomy. That's the day that the cancer was removed.
Everyone uses different dates, but for me, I use the date of being cancer free as my anniversary.
-
well in my case, my biopsy and dx was the same day. i didn't get the specifics till the following week but we knew it was cancer and it was large. that was the response my surgeon gave me when i asked when my 1 year anniv etc would be. ibcspouse, now that's an entirely different scenerio.

Mayby all begin dates are right. Just like my wife and I celebrate two anniversities, our first date and our wedding. If you are looking at OS overall survival then the date of dx is used, If you are referring to NED or disease free then your anniversity will be the date of that bessed news.

Ok then, I think I am going to celebrate my NED date. 10/24!!! Maybe I will be put back together by then!!!! Thanks for all your input!
