An update and happy ending
Hi Ladies
I had written a thread July 7th called "Dx new health problem unrelated to cancer anyone?"
I have been a basket case this summer as in late Spring, they had found a "mass" growing from my stomach, found unexpectedly on a CT scan. This WAS completely unrelated to breast cancer but was a new problem. I consulted with 2 surgeons who both suspected a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). - A very rare sarcoma. - Yes another cancer, and a rare one at that- Lucky me!!!
Well, I had the surgery and PRAISE GOD, it was not a GIST at all!! Instead it was a hemiangioma (just a tangle of blood vessels) growing from the liver and pushing on the stomach. -
A completely beneign condition. I was told they can form and grow during pregnancy or while using birth control pills. Makes me wonder if the tamox, I took for 1.5yrs made this grow bigger, but thank God it was beneign, for whatever reason it was there.
I think those first few years after breast cancer are sooo precarious. (I am 2 yrs out). We are all wondering, "Is this cancer, is that cancer, why am I having this symptom, why did this test show "something"?? It is good we are followed closely and yet it can cause so much unneeded worry!!
I think many of us will have "happy endings" to all these health scares, SEs from treatment and uncertainty. Hopefully 5, 10, 20 yr++ out we can look at these difficulties as a bump (a BIG BUMP) in the road, of life.
Wishing blessings and happy endings to all my breast cancer sisters.
Julie
