Does size matter - 1mm of ICS

Hi-

I don't think anyone can tell you if you need chemo or not but they can share their stories with you. I know we fall in a gray area....  I'll start...I had DCIS and as my pathology report states "a focus of less than 1mm" of microinvasion "in it's greatest dimension".  I am hormonally negative but Her2+++.  I sought out the opinions of 10 different oncologists (I even e-mailed John Hopkins) and the concensus was no chemo or Herception because the risks outweighed the benefits for me but definitely radiation since I had a lumpectomy.   One of my oncologists who has a reputation of being very agressive with her treatments had my slide re-cut to be sure there were no missed microinvasions and then said only radiation as well.  My oncologists ranged from working in major cancers to those in private practice.  Their years of experience ranged as well.  This is my story.  You have to decide to do with what you feel comfortable with and not look back.  Wishing you the very best.
