My aunt had breast cancer 6 years ago -- we think triple positive.  A few weeks ago she was diagnosed with triple neg mets to bone.  She has a great doctor in Chicago but from what I've read triple neg mets is rarer than other forms and wanted to know if there was a doctor who specialized in it.  If so, who?

If there isn't anyone who specializes in it, from whom shoudl we get second and third opinions?  And can we get them over the phone because my aunt is not up to traveling right now.

She is on Xeloda and she starts Zometa this week.  Is this the standard treatment?  Anyone on something else??  I've started researching clinical trials but her diagnosis does not look like it places her in one.  Does anyone know of one?

We would love someone with the same diagnosis to chime in and offer some advice.  It would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to post of the "recurrence & mets" section.  A lot of ladies there have bone mets.  I think you normally have another chemo along with Xeloda.  They have found Xeloda does not work with all TN.  I would get a 2nd opinion, that always a good thing.  Since your aunt has been so long from her last treatment, there are a lot of new chemo for her to try. Abraxtane, Ixempra, Avastin and Carboplatin have show to work for triple negs.  You pretty much have to run through the standards before you can get involved with anything more cutting edge.  You can do trials....but my doctor said hold off...there is know new proof any of this is working yet.  You can also treat bone mets with radiation if it is in a accessible spot.

I hope you can get another opinion soon. Your aunts age and orverall health will also decide on treatment options.
