Miz! I've not heard from the docs, but glad to hear it's B9!
I use the new road they put in a little ways from here for a light industrial park. Brand new and dh and I went through it and marked off 1/2 miles marks thinking I was going to walk it this spring after tx, then remembered dd's bike! I was up to 2 1/2 miles a day till this thing happened. Can't wait to be able to start riding again!
Tina? Are you going to share your creations with us! Would love to see them!
-
Just time for a quick check in! Got my new puter...an Apple Powerbook...what a Dream Machine! Can't wait to get back here to try it out!!! Goodbye Gates!!!
-
Just a quickie here too, to say dear miz, you are great fortuneteller! It was B9~ YEAH!
-
That's great...you know, everybody here is super healthy and stays out of trouble, and I guess I just assumed what's normal for us...
..we have a positive attitude and some fine folks that pray very hard here.
Now off to drawing...gonna go down to EMU to draw this morning.
Had a party last night with our camper, at the lake...and whoa...we all had such a nice time, but I'm sure glad I didn't drink as much as the others!!!! More later.

Just a quick hello.
Hubbie and I are still struggling and this is taking up a lot of my energy.
I just wanted to tell you ladies that I think you rock and thank you for your friendship.
-
Hi Casey,
We are here for you and I am sorry you have to go through this and hope you two can work things out if at all possible. In my opinion, matters of the heart are harder to deal with than anything and can take such a toll on us physically and emotionally. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk in private - before I met my wonderful husband, I had my share of not so great guys (to be fair - a couple were very good to me). I was previously married when I was way too young to be so and obviously that didn't go very well.
You take care - Raye
-
So nice to hear from you Casey...we've been worried about you. We just happen to think that we are one of the most privileged groups around here to have a member like you, and I think you're why we all come back. You've got three women here that want to talk to you, so don't be shy about talking, that's why we're here.Don't know what's wrong with me...couldn't seem to stay awake this morning and fell asleep again and am just now waking up!!!XXXOOOOO Miz

Good Morning Lovelies....what a beautiful day!! It's been hot and humid all week and the discomfort was supposed to intensify this weekend, but surprise!! We've got beautiful weather and low dewpoints. Open windows weather.....my favorite.
Here's Marissa, just a few seconds ago..checking it out. We have a swinging screen cat door installed in one of our windows so she can go in and out as she pleases...yesterday she brought me a "present" a LIVE FROG which she deposited between the sheets of our bed!!! Fortunately I was able to return it to the garden before further damage was done!
We've had our camper set up all week at a nearby lake...had a wonderful time last weekend. A few pix of my best friend (DH) enjoying the kayak..
Hope to get back today, and perhaps do a little canoeing and painting around sunset. Watercolors can be lots of fun in a canoe...you got all the water you need right there, and if you aren't too fussy about being representational, you can get some sensational effects!!
Watch ALL YALL up to?
Puppy isn't posting much, I guess she's just getting involved in her life a little more...she's very happy and improving daily, though it's still important to rest a lot. Her doctor says full recovery may take a year. And guess what. Puppy has a new Puppy...a little terrier named Patty!!! Hope she comes to tell us more about her soon!
Miz

Oh, I am so guilty of not posting much lately.
Miz Linora, those shots of your dh kayaking make me jealous. We have two kayaks but have not taken them out in ages. DH too busy with projects. Today he is continuing working on restoring the stone grotto around the St. J. statue at our parish. LOL He's gotten religion, somewhat, lately. Actually volunteered to do the job. HaHa.
Yesterday was so hot and humid, I could not function, which is unusual for me. I decided at suppertime to just give in to the funk and went and got myself some Mike's hard lemonade. Ahhhh, summertime. Slept like a baby.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
-
Tina....glad to see you!!! Yeah...shame on you for not posting!!! I was wondering if our thread was just going to "die." Horrors!!!
Those kayaks didn't belong to us...it was DH's first time in one on this particular lake...we have a canoe. I hate hot and humid...yesterday, I slept until 9:30 am when I got a wake up call from my husband, drank some tea, got sleepy, decided to shut my eyes and next thing I knew it was 1:30!! Had been barely up before he was back home again and I was ready to go back to sleep around 7 pm...slept straight through..and all this without a single sleepy drug! Feel good today though. Maybe it was a bug.
PS to last post...I am beating the battle of the bulge!!! Avoiding carbs & bread, eating lots of fruits and yogurt... haven't weighed for a few days but stomach feels small and tight.

Hey Carol, Raye, Casey, Puppy, TINA, Wishy, Mary, Cathy...ANYBODY out there?
I am in serious need of some sympathy and attention today
Last night, tired though I was from not sleeping at the campsite, I went for a bike ride with my dear hubby cause he really wanted to, and what the heck...had an accident right off the bat. Was riding next to a busy road and the wheels hit the side of the pavement and I fell sideways onto the pavement. Fortunately, there were no cars passing at the time, but I managed to injure every major joint on the left side of my body...hip, elbow, knee, shoulder. Nothing serious enough to send me to the ER though. Went and finished the ride anyway and when I got home I had some pretty swollen joints. The pain kicked in around bedtime. Fortunately I had One (1) Darvon left which I am thankful for. I spent the night lying on my back with ice packs. Today it's just going to be tylenols and sitz baths. Oh to have one year where I had no accidents or illnesses!!!
We packed up our camper yesterday....it was sad. As beautiful as it was by the lake I could not seem to get a good night's sleep out there...I can sleep just fine in bear country in the true wilderness but I get nervous when strangers are nearby.
On the positive side I have two wonderful trips to look forward to...in a month we head out to Monhegan, and in October, we're taking an entirely frivolous, fun trip to my favorite city in North America..Old Quebec!!! We have tickets to see Les Miserables, and we're gonna stay in a historic quaint hotel, shop, and dine...and fly...no more car trips for us...And I'll be parlaying fransay again. Can't wait for the croissants!!!
Miz
-
Hi Miz. You poor girl! Hopefully the Tylenol will take care of any pain associated with your accident - just take it easy today and get your rest - you don't want to overdo it. We camped this weekend as well. Had a great time. Took our dog to the lake yesterday and he swam and swam. Also met some nice people who also had dogs.
Miz, are you going to Quebec City? How fun. When I lived in upstate NY, I had a friend from QC, who was a doll.
OK, I gotta get - busy today.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Raye
-
{{Oh Miz}} Oh my, Oh my! That's my biggest fear about riding is hitting a large stone from the constructon trucks around here or in the park and take a fall! Dearest, I hope you are feeling better as the day goes on. Check, but I think they saying is, to ice for 24 hours, then heat? Not positive, b/c it's been a while since I've had a fall like that, but check. Ice for the first 24 on again, off again will keep the swelling down, then low heat helps to bring blood to it, for healing.
Geepers, last thing you need is more injury/illness...anyone really! Try to stay down today and let the world pass by....
-
Thank you Raye & Wishy...yesterday was not a good day, could hardly get up and down the stairs but by evening I was limbered up enough for a walk...Today is so much better!! I have some pretty big bruises but I feel like myself again....it must be all those nice positive vibes you sent me.
Now let's ALL OF US have an ENTIRE YEAR of no illnesses or accidents...Puppy, Casey, Raye, Tina, Wishy, Mary, Carol, Cathy, Dottie...let's have a year of perfect health...I am going to say a special prayer for all of us.
Talked to Puppy yesterday....OH does she sound great! The surgery has made such an enormous change in her life...no more headaches, no more percosets, she's never sounded better. She and DH went catfishing Sunday night; sounds like so much fun. You have to go right at dusk, and you make a campfire, the fish fight like mad. You catch 'em and throw 'em back...she says she gonna show me all her hillbillly fun if I ever get to WV!!! How about it Casey?!!!
Puppy has a new baby rat terrier named Patty. She found her at the pound weekend before last; she had never been out of the cage...this breed is very small, barely grows to eight pounds. She loves her new home and follows Puppy outside and never strays more than a few feet away from her....she gets along with Jake just great (the other dog)...Debby says that she and DH feel as though they just had a baby.
She's not loggin in much now...trying to focus on Life, but Casey, she asked about you and when I read her your latest post she cried Happy Tears...and she wanted me to tell you...YOU ROCK!! We miss you!!!
XXXXOOOOO

Oh, Miz, I'm sorry I missed your post about the accident. (((YOU))) BUT, I'm glad to hear you are on the mend. Those bicycles are so dangerous. This advice from someone who never graduated beyond a 17" bike. Such a sport I am. Graceful as a gazelle with two broken legs.
Thanks for the update on Puppy and her newest pup. Is a rat terrier like Wishbone? A Jack Russell? I am a big, goofy dog person so don't know much about the little guys but they sure are cute.
Am up to my earlobes in work. I have tons to do in the next week or so to catch up. Keeps me out of mischief.

MISS ALL OF YOU.......will be back soon.....
Yes sweety, they are alike.....will tell more soon....

Hi Puppy!! Soooo very nice to see your post and hope you are feeling well. How are you doing hun? Let us know. Miz keeps us up to date as well.

Hi ladies,
Thank you again.
Barry and I a continue to struggle, he likes who he is and his life in NC, I have found myself more attached to WV than ever and just don't want to leave. We are at an impasse....
Lenora, Mizsissy, Mizzy
,
I am sorry to read about your crash and burn. As I ride more and more I understand it is just a question of time before I crash. I think your Darvon proves it's always good to have a little stash for emergencies. I hope you are well on your way to feeling better. You know, I lived in Montreal for two semesters of college. I wish I had headed to Quebec City, I hear it is very beautiful.
I have been invited for a three week trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. I was initially reticent to accept, hoping that Barry and I would work things out. I have since decided to take advantage of an opportunity of a lifetime. Here I am having finally gotten my passport and I intend to float down the river in November.
Puppy,
I hope you are enjoying your puppy. It is amazing what breeds show up at shelters. I am glad to read that you are engaging in LIFE!
Tina,
How are the buttons?
My garden is doing well. The bean vines have taken over the corn and if I see one more crook necked squash I think I will choke it! I have taken to throwing them into my field. Gus has taken up retrieving them. I assume some will get into the bellies of mice. Happily I got to eat my first cantelope and the peaches were marvelous. I have'nt done too much grocery shopping lately.
It's funny, although my marriage is disintegrating I am not terribly unhappy. It is beautiful here and I am learning to take pleasure in other interests.
Life really does go on doesn't it?
-
Casey, sweetie, I'm go glad to see you are coping awap. It reallly stinks when a relationship goes off. Never mind a marriage. I wish I could be there to talk. Just know we all are with you in our thoughts. We are all sisters in many ways.
You got a passport for CO? Are you in Canada? I somehow missed that.
Buttons are cool. I actually took some to knitting class last week and gifted my mates with some "rejects." They loved them. Said they were not rejects, just handmade and unique! HaHa. Love those girls.
Miz, how are you feeling today? Bruised?
-
Casey,
Good Morning! Sounds like you are doing really well. Your attitude is so healthy and admirable. I am so glad you are not as you put it, terribly unhappy. Glad you are enjoying WV - my dad, uncles and grandpa were born in WV. We used to go down and visit when I was very young- beautiful country. And, of course, we drive through every year on our way to the OBX.
I never knew that you had gone to school in Montreal. Did you go to McGill? I once lived very close to Montreal in NY.
How have the workouts been going? Mine: nada. Ran once last week, that's it; although I've been doing squats every other day and pushups. My cardio endurance is going to go to pot if I don't get on the ball.
That Colorado trip sounds tremendous. I am with Tina and bit confused about the passport - are you starting in Canada and then down the Rockies? In any event, sounds fab and it is just what the doctor ordered.
Miz, yes, how are you feeling? Hopefully better so you can enjoy this beautiful weather. I can't believe fall is right around the corner.

Good Morning Lovelies...how nice to see you here!! It's a cool day in Michigan.Casey,So nice to get a newsy post from you. I am so glad you are making plans and doing things, that trip down the CO sounds terrific. You have so many interests and you are so strong, you have some wonderful experiences ahead of you. While some of what you are going through now can feel heartbreaking, in the end you're going to find out that your life will improve because of this experience, because there is one person you know you can always rely on that you will never lose, and that is YOU!!You are getting a passport...is the trip to Peru still on?Tina,Wish we could see some of those buttons!!! I bet their beautiful!! I have a blouse pattern I make over and over that calls for one large distinctive button at the top and the rest are hidden...you usually wear it with just the top button buttoned...I'll put in on the mannikin and take a photo so you can see. I found some wonderful antique buttons that I have used for this blouse.I am pretty well bruised up now...things are at their peak of color....vivid violets against a sea of pale green..some of 'em could make some interesting art. I was walking just fine until last night and something happened to my hip and today I am having a lot of trouble getting around. Hopefully this will all clear up in a few days.Puppy...so nice to hear from you. When are you gonna learn how to use that camera I sent you last January and take a picture of your darling little Patty so we can ALL love her?!!!Wishy...how is the exercise plan going? Raye, Carol, Mary, Cathy....ALL YALL...how's the shape up program going?Miz

Quick Friday checkin to see how you are!!! Just the same!!!
I got a problem...how do I get my cats to stop hurting little animals? Birds, frogs, and OMG Baby Rabbits!!! Yes, sweet little itty bitty baby rabbits.
I have a baby rabbit who lives in a hole under the sidewalk to our front door. And I have found Miranda...my largest senior kitty..."playing" with the rabbit several times. The rabbit appears not to be hurt and not to be too afraid. This has been going on for several days. Makes me nervous.
But I have been praising Miranda lavishly each time I find her playing with the bunny and not hurting it. I think it may actually be her "friend." A few years ago she cornered a baby bunny under our deck, behind the lattice work, and I crouched outside helpless as I watched what I thought would be hopeless carnage. I begged Miranda to leave "Sissy" alone, trying to get her to understand that I considered the bunny the equivalent of our small, weak other cat. And she did!!! She backed off, came out from the under the deck and came inside. Praised her!!
I'm a very proud Momma today!!!!

Unfortunately, cats are like any other animal and consider it their job to remove other animals from 'their' territory. I'm surprised the bunnys are there, altough we've had them for many years even with 2 dogs who roamed freely in our fenced acreage. Our cats are indoor, but I know the times they do get out, the first place they go is the bird feeders. Easy prey as it as for the resident hawk who comes by weekly
Part of the cycle. We also have ferrel cats in the area, 3 that come through time and again. They stalk the birds at night in the trees and ground. We also have resident opposum, ground chuck (2), deer and what not that live on the property. It not uncommon to find injured animals that have had it out with something else. Again, part of life. WIhout out, imagine the population we'd have? Goodness, you've heard the 'breeds like a rabbit' saying?
It is cute when they get along though as your kitty and the bunny. Just be sure you've protected your kitty from the elements found outside like his shots/fleas and such, b/c rabbits are notorious for that! One of our two cockers should have been a herder. SHe once herded 3 small raccoons to the back door to show me what she round! I about died, between laughing and fear, as their teeth were nasty, even at their small size!
Enjoy your pretty kitty!

Hi everyone. I had lumpecomy and recision in April and finished chemo 2 weeks ago. I expect to start rads in a few weeks followed by Taxomifen. I've maintained my weight but am extremely weak from Chemo. I've lost muscle tone through the process and really want to start an exercise routine to get my energy back to "normal". I plan to start slow -- walk 5 days a week and light weight training 2 days a week. I have 4 kids to take care of and work full time so I need all the energy I can get!
Hope you don't mind if I join you. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Rose
-
Hi Rose, you are in the right place!!Whew...you've just been through your ordeal!! I think you've go the right idea...take it slow. Chemo can be very weakening but you'll recover quickly. But beware, radiation can be very fatiguing as well. I kept up exercise until I was about 5 weeks into chemo and then I had to give up for a while. I got some of my stamina back between chemo and rads, but about the 3rd week of rads I started to feel very fatigued. This is normal. The fatique was even worse than chemo, but it began to get better almost immediately. My suggestion to you is to start with walking...maybe a half a day and don't even bother on your tired days. I am a runner, and when I was done with chemo, I could only run about a half mile, but I kept it up (every OTHER day...the off days are needed to give your body rest to recover) and in about two weeks I was back up to my usual run.Rose...you've got a lot to deal with...kids, job, exercise...more power to you!!! I hope someone can help with cooking & cleaning!!!To Wishy and other Bunny lovers....Baby Bunny has a new home. We caught her and took her to a nature center last night. The techs there looked her over and couldn't find a scratch, and she'll probably be re-released in a few days. I am so proud of Miranda for being so gentle!! I think Miranda probably found her over near the wetlands somewhere and brought her home to be a playmate...Did some research on cats and rabbits and found all kinds of interestings stories. Cats adopting baby rabbits (click for link to video) and raising them, cats and rabbits as companion pets, but the strangest of all, a cat and a rabbit that...OMG....I think I'll just quote it directly!!! From the AskaPet website:
I have a cat that has been spayed and declawed and of course she stays inside. here is the problem. I recently acquired a male rabbit.the cat and rabbit are in love,I'm serious! the rabbit mounts the cat and try's to mate the cat.the cat does not seem to mind, even licking the rabbits head and body.when I seperate them, the cat cries out until she is allowed near the rabbit. I keep the rabbit in a cage and the cat will lay next to the cage as long as I let her.is this normal? will the rabbit hurt the cat? should I get a female rabbit? I know this sounds strange but you should be in my shoes when my family comes over to see the two lovebirds!!
Answer is even wierder!!!!
It is not unusual for two different species to love, to mate and to enjoy each other's company. Sometimes the animals are truely in love with their friend, and sometimes they mount as a demonstration of dominence. Dogs may jump on a human leg as if to mate, or a bird may rub on a toy in the cage. In captivity, especially when the same species in unavailable, sexual feelings are often displayed in a distorted manner. In the wild, it is extremely unlikely to find felines and rabbits mounting one another.
Rabbits are notoriously sexually active. When another rabbit is unavailable, they turn to a toy or another animal for sexual tension release. Intact male rabbits are much more likely to do this than females. The genetics of cats and rabbits are too different to result in any fertility, so you don't have to worry about any unwanted pregnancies here. Also, the rabbit is unlikely to hurt the cat in their fun. You might be best off just letting them continue as is.
Neither one can spell!!!Miz -
Hi girls,
I haven’t been here for weeks and I am trying to catch up on all your posts. So glad to see Puppy! I hope you are feeling great and making progress each day.
Casey, I am so sorry you are going through this heartbreak with your husband. I guess people’s hearts are unpredictable but it makes you lose faith when things like this happen. Your trip sounds like the best medicine right now.
Abba / Tina– I can’t wait to see the buttons – it sounds like it is a relaxing hobby. Wishi, congrats on the B9. You’ll be back on the bike soon. Linora, I have a Mac and I love it – would never go back to Microsoft. Love the pictures – you sound like life is so full for you. You will love Quebec city! We have stayed at the Chateau Frontenac and it is just beautiful. That’s the hotel in the picture you posted. The food is wonderful – have dinner in their dining room when the sun sets on the St. Lawerence river. Beautiful.
Raye, you sound busy – good. Where is your avatar? We need a little beautification on here – your pic always does the trick!
Rose, welcome to the group. We do a lot more than exercise though. I think once the summer is over we may be able to focus more on those goals. I hope treatment is not too difficult for you – rads are easier than chemo, at least.
I have been away a lot this summer so I haven’t been posting much. I do try to catch up whenever I can. Have a great rest of the weekend, Carol
-
Oh, boy, on the cat loving the rabbit, etc. all I can say is that some dogs will mount throw pillows or visitors' legs? Does that count as love? LOL
Rose, welcome to our little group. We all know what you've been through and how hard it is to get physically back to normal. Or better. We are here to help any way we can.
Carol, so nice to see you again. Yes, the buttons are relaxing, although there is certainly a learning curve.
Girls, I have found that when I ignore what I'm supposed to be eating and just eat as I wish, I drop pounds. Maybe I eat the "good things" then go on to eat the stuff I like. Perhaps I should drop the goodyfoody ideas and eat normal for me and take a vitamin pill every day.
-
Miz - I agree with Wishi - cats will be cats, the lovely hunters/huntresses they are. Glad that baby bunny is safe. Growing up, we had outdoor cats and they would catch chipmunks, mice, etc. I would try to save them, but my mom told me to let it go, it's part of the cycle.
Rose - Hello and welcome! I was able to maintain my weight as well through chemo, but also lost muscle tone and was so weak. As you mention, I took it easy, walking on the treadmill -you've got the right idea. One day at a time. It will get easier.
Carol - Good to hear from you. You've been to so many places!! I've been busy, but not busy enough! ha.
Tina - You know, I've met a lot of ladies who say when they don't worry about what they eat, they lose weight! Sounds like it works for you - go for it girl. Now me, if I don't worry, I'm into the ice cream (low fat, of course, but does it matter when you eat the whole 1/2 gallon??), the entire bag of Baked Lays is gone in one sitting - you get the idea. No control.
Casey and Puppy - hope you are both doing well.
Night ladies, Monday Monday will be here before we know it.
-
Raye, just something I do with the ice cream treats, is that IF I haven't ridden my bike or been in the gardens working for an hour that day, I don't get my ice cream. REally gives me incentive to get out there every evening. The other thing, dh is one who would eat 1/2 gall in a setting, but he started having me scoop his, so he had one portion as opposed to 3, it worked great. He still enjoys it, but doens't overdo this time of year with it. Just a couple hints to help?
Good luck ladies!
-
Good Morning ladies....Carol..it's so nice to see you!! You must have had quite a reading chore...all those long winded posts...!!! It's so nice to see your cheerful face again and to know you're doing fine especially after last Christmas! And like you I just luv my Mac...instant ON, instant web, no viruses, no problems. No more PC for me!Raye, you're right about those bunnies. No sooner had we *saved* the first one then she was back with a second one, this time much younger. We decided not to intervene. Again, she didn't hurt it, and wanted to bring it inside!!! We made her drop him...he was fine. Then the temperatures plummeted, and poor baby bunny spent a very cold night by himself. Late yesterday I rescued him, put him in an old wool hat. He loved it. He lapped milk from my fingers and seemed to be doing fine...and then a few hours later just inexplicably died. I guess you just can't tamper with nature.I am soooo depressed. Just jumped on the scale and I weigh 133.5! Help! I was doing just fine. Around August 1st started a daily food diary. Was getting exercise...then fell off the bike!!! Then my birthday came along and we went out to dinner. I had a TOSSED SALAD for my entree (but several portions of bread and lobster bisque for an appetizer...and um and some berries for dessert that came with some sort of rich cream cheese topping...) Oh well, I tried. I have 3 1/2 weeks left until vacation. Can I lose ten pounds? HELP!I think it's those daily cocktails!!!!!Last week I turned 60. Can you believe it? I can't. I've never really felt old until my waitress told me her name was Corinna...Oh, like the song I said. She nodded YES....Who was that who sang it, that fabulous musician?...couldn't remember...Did she?NO...she didn't know and didn't care. (Figured out later it was Taj Mahal, heard him sing at a private club in San Francisco back in the 70s sometime...back in the Dark Ages!!!!)Now I'm having trouble walking with my hip injury...a real OLD LADY
Maybe I should call the doctor and get it checked out. If it's not one thing, it's another
.....
We've got an anniversary coming up this week and I think we need to find a less *fattening* way to celebrate!!!Miz
